  1. I wouldn't have thought so, as it's their cars he'd be polishing..LOL (crazy world eh!!)
  2. Just take machine polisher to scrappers and polish away any car you want, (the scrappers won't mind I'm sure).. LOL
  3. You must have a receipt of some kind issued by the garage that carried-out the work on your car. This receipt should state what you are paying for, and what was carried-out..
  4. I would say google it first, then find-out the correct part replacement price from Skoda.. (make sure your sat down)..LOL
  5. Mr Ree, If Windows XP works fine for you, I ask why change to another system?? I understand about the updates point, but do you really want to change? If you come across programs that are not compatible with your Windows XP then, that's the time to seriously think to upgrade to a younger Windows OS system.. I run an iMac with a partition in the hard-drive for my Windows XP Home edition. It would be simple for me to add/ change any Windows OS system in the partition. Running Windows on an iMac (Apple) gives me the best of both worlds, this might be a consideration for you in the future. Rather than keep buying computers to stay up-to-date, just buy the new Windows or iMac OS system?
  6. Usually white indicates water vapour, whereas black smoke unburnt fuel. Most cars produce white vapour on cold start-up but soon stops when engine warm. Other lurking causes could be head gasket, but, usually accompanied with a misfire of engine. Can be also causes previously stated by my learned fellow members.
  7. If the age don't get you, the mileage will..LOL
  8. I did notice the disc is well scored, have you had a problem with the pads/discs or the pads stainless steel shims in the past ?
  9. Use a breaker bar with a 1/2" drive, that's what I used to loosen my MK1 Fabia VRS ones off..
  10. How did you check the brake lights?? they have gone out by the time you get-out and reach the back of the car..LOL Suggest give all bulbs and contact points a good clean..
  11. I put a touch of copper based grease on most nuts and bolts that have been removed over the years with all cars. On the old VRS I greased the bolts holding the rear caliper carriage in place, not before 3 years old, then had the devil's own job to remove these bolts initially, not a problem now.. If/when renewing rear discs/pads, I remove these bolts (one at-a-time) apply a smear of grease and retighten after screwing in first part of bolt end by hand..
  12. I am assuming you mean the strap that goes around the constant velocity joint rubber boot, keeping the rubber boot in position?? Try a simple plastic tie, use two if you can't get one long enough, (strapped together).
  13. If when you first switch on, your dash panel should light an ABS panel light ?? no light = no ABS Well perhaps a horse of a different colour, but, here goes. I bought a one new new bearing hub assembly off E-Bay around the £34.00 mark, could have got it cheaper, but I got cold feet with one sellers reply.. Getting garage labour to fit assembly into housing ( as you need a very heavy press tool ) for about £80.00. Make sure if you have ABS, that you get the bearing hub assembly with the magnetic ring fitted type.. Worth mentioning one Skoda bearing hub assembly £92.00 mark..
  14. Hello norris8322, If you had the car since new I assume you still have all the booklets available ? Look for the book marked as 'SkodaAuto' which lists on the front cover... AUTORADIO SYMPHONY S CD....AUTORADIO SYMPHONY MIT CD....CAR RADIO SYMPHONY WITH CD. Open the front cover and you will see a sticker with 3 lots of numbers. The lower 4 digit number is your radio code.. (or should be) mine is... Good luck..
  15. OMG !!! so sorry to hear your bad news, hope you got the necessary spondulex to get it mended soon..
  16. Hello polecat1982, Well you have got one very sick sump pan. Do a good job get a new sump pan with new sump plug, and gasket. Ensure old gasket completely removed with surfaces all nice and shiny. Use a good sealant with gasket, (pan to engine block) with fresh oil, new oil filter. Sit back and say that was a job well done, with loads of job satisfaction, give yourself a pat on-the-back..LOL
  17. My old TomTom25 registers speed zones with pings, and, can be set for maximum speed too, ie 60 - 70mph.
  18. Check spark leads and plugs and where the spark initially comes from, not up on modern electrical systems, in my day it would have been something could a coil, which produced the spark..
  19. To cut a long story very short, my local 'Four lanes' TV transmitter has changed a frequency to COM5 which renders my recorder obsolete. TV Channels 11-12-17-29-32-36-37-41-42-43-46-57-82 are on COM5 frequency on which the sound has lip-sync, garbled distorted speech, but the picture received is perfect. There is no error message like U81 or such, displayed on recorder. Having contacted Panasonic EU division they confirmed that my EX85 has firmware DVB Version 1.16 is unable to cope with the changed frequency, because of it's age first produced 2006 it therefore cannot be updated to receive the new broadcast. I will quickly add my EX83 works fine both with picture and sound, which was first produced 2010. Further to add, I contacted 3 local TV and recorder repairers who all have stated since January 2014 (this year) they are seeing a steady flow of customers reporting above fault not only EX85 recorders but also on other makes/brands of recorders and televisions. So beware potential E-Bay buyers of Panasonic DMR-EX85 recorders, you have been warned.. wanna buy my cheap Panasonic EX85 anyone?? LOL
  20. In any dry period (weather wise) I get squeaks all over, the favourite is the drivers window when travelling up/down. Front suspension n/s and rear end somewhere, is another area. Get one little shower/ wet period of rain the car again is quiet as morgue..LOL
  21. The red FR looks very much (to me) like a Honda TypeR, just it's slower than one, but the Ibiza does have four doors, which is very much a plus (for me)..
  22. Hope my wipers don't pack-up, just looking at the charges gives me the E-BEE G-BEE'S.. LOL
