  1. Hello PoloPaul Sound advice, however, we are in lockdown in the UK and mechanics are not allowed in the car with me so that I can point out the problem. Once this changes I shall insist on demonstrating the issue. But I agree that the car is a joy to drive although computer/electrical issues show up regularly. Are you in lockdown in Finland? Paul
  2. Interesting. I am happy-ish to know that the noises I hear are the same as with all 2020 Octavias although I am have never experienced this before in any car. A courtesy car Scoda Fabia was also noisy. I get a lot of differential whine below 25 mph and I hear noises as though something is loose when I let the clutch out or push it in and ‘coast’ for a few seconds. Two main dealers have shown zero interest and are dismissive.
  3. Please do - it’s spoiling my enjoyment of an otherwise lovely car. If it is typical of the Octavia (Golf!!) drivetrain then I’ll forget about it. Cheers
  4. Hello Ajdude I did the opposite to you in that I went from 20+ years 2.0 litre Passat TDIs to a 1.5 petrol Octavia SEL. I found the TDIs a joy to drive - so much flexibility and pulling away in any/every gear - thought I’d miss that when I changed I have to say the Octavia petrol 150 bop has a whole load of oomph - enough to pull away in low reeves in higher gears. My issue is the transmission noise which I mention and have posted.
  5. I experienced the SOS coming on once. An internal beeper sounded loudly like an internal house alarm. I couldn’t turn it off and pushed the SOS button - no one had told me that this connected you to the emergency services - which it did! I explained and the operator was great. So clearly the SIM worked! I heard the sound as I pulled up for my jab on Friday - couldn’t stop as I had to go in - sound had stopped when I returned. Glitches?
  6. I found my 2020 - 21 1.5 SEL bewildering also. ‘Laura’ is pretty unhelpful unless you pose a question exactly as she is programmed to hear. The infotainment centre often takes a while to open-up and respond. I persevered with various setting and have now trumped them but my concern is about ‘kangaroo-ing’ and transmission noise below 25 mph. Any experience of that? It’s a lovely car when bundling along the open road and the emergency detect system saved me from reversing into trouble in the first few days.
  7. Hello Everyone My 2020 Octavia has what I believe to be transmission noise below 25 mph. I’ve had it seen by two different Skoda garages but as I can’t share a car during lockdown I can’t demonstrate while driving and a salesperson tested it last! There is a distinct whine below 25 mph (worse going uphill) which disappears when I push the clutch in. There is also a disconcerting rattling sound after changing gear below 25 mph which stops as the car picks up. If I push the clutch in this sound vanishes also. I am worried that this points to a transmission problem which may take years till actual breakdown... at my expense! I have never heard anything similar in a car before and have had several Golfs and Passat... but a brand new Octavia! Has anyone else any similar experience?
