Kamiq review - short and sweet
You state: 'I dont see anything that he said which is pointless or misleading, he simply has a different opinion of the vehicle he drove than you do. Had you read my previous posts you would have seen I already acknowledged it is okay for Xman to have a different opinion from me. That's a no brainer. What is not okay is for that opinion to be factually incorrect. Two questions to you, J.R. Have you read all of Xman's posts? Have you been in a Kamiq? If you answer yes to both then you shouldn't need me to explain what is 'pointless/misleading'. But just in case you need an explanation: Quote from Xman '...................Cheap and nasty interior was my impression, hard plastics all round, some badly fitting, including the top of the dash and doors where I would have expected some squidgy material on a SEL.' Fact: The top of the dashboard and door cappings are soft (squidgy) not hard plastic. Precisely what Xman would have expected!! Note: This might be important for some prospective buyers. Certainly is for Xman; why mention it otherwise. Could Xman's erroneous comments dissuaded them? Perhaps? Observation: In my Kamiq and the other three I test drove the cabin fit is/was exemplary. 2. Quote from Xman: '...................Rear seat area looked very cramp(ed) indeed with lots of exposed hard cheap plastic trims at the sides.' In a later post he stated: 'I will admit my assessment of rear seat space was by looking from the front passenger seat.' Comment: Xman didn't actually visit the rear. My opinion and that of every motor mag reviewer out there is opposite to that of Xman. The rear area is not cramped. On the contrary it is spacious. Note: The faces of the door cards are trimmed in fabric. Again, as above, rear area might be important to prospective buyers. Xman does it no favours in that regard. In closing. I already have a Kamiq so Xman's comments are of no consequence to me. But, if other members/visitors contemplating a purchase have squidgy plastics and generous rear area as priorities they might just be persuaded to ignore the Kamiq. And that would be wrong, don't you agree?

Kamiq review - short and sweet
I didn't miss it. You didn't qualify your test drive with a duration. Just a test drive. True, it's okay to have an opinion but when that opinion is not based on fact it is pointless at best and misleading at worst. I started this thread in the hope that owners/users would add their experiences of their Kamiq and these would be of value to members/visitors who might be contemplating a purchase/hire. Some of what you've posted has not been helpful in that regard. But, hey ho, there you go.

'No thank you.' Pity. You don't know what you're missing.

Can I respectfully suggest you go and have another look and you'll see the squishy surfaces and spacious rear area. While you're at it have a test drive in an SE with the 17" alloys. The ride is simply superb.

Kamiq review - short and sweet
Are you absolutely sure you inspected and test drove a Kamiq? I ask because no one could possibly miss the squidgy plastic on the top of dash board and front door cappings. Further evidence it wasn't a Kamiq is provided by your comment on the rear area looking 'very cramp(ed)'. Reviewers nationwide don't agree on all aspects of the Kamiq but, without exception, they are unanimous in their agreement reference the rear area - it is more in keeping with the next size up SUV. In case prospective buyers visit this forum I want them to know that the plastics aren't hard all round and the rear isn't cramp(ed). Neither does it 'bounce around'. There are lots of online reviews. Read them. By and large they are very favourable. Polar opposite to xman comments.

Titan boot liners
Off topic. Kopacek, originally Superskoda. I recall buying some items for my Fabia vRS from Superskoda back in 2007/8. Wonder if rebranding had anything to do with Jan Kopecky - Skoda Rally driver. He was well known back then. I still have a Jan Kopecky Skoda Rally Team baseball cap.

Titan boot liners
The one on Kierol's car looks identical to the 'Glossy Black' 658061195 (E49.99) from Kopacek. I quite fancy the Alu version which I think would compliment the Kamiq rear splitter. And is definitely wider.

Like Nahkri I'm interested in the boot edge protector. Could you let us know the dealer and a contact number, please. I've searched extensively but can only find stainless or chrome, none of which appeals.

Sorry to hear about your infotainment. Perhaps Skoda are more concerned with the dynamics.

Kamiq review - short and sweet
To my fellow Kamiq owners - in my opinion, you/we are indeed very fortunate to have the privilege of experiencing this extraordinary example of engineering design and manufacture. The absence of any discernible vibration and the clever use of sound dampening make the Kamiq one of the most refined cars I've ever come across. And I've had 30+ at this point. The last being a 2018 Audi A3 S-line, 1.0 DSG, Saloon. That car couldn't hold a candle to the Kamiq in terms of refinement. But the refinement doesn't come at the detriment of the dynamics. Oh no. It is well able to hold its own on the motorway and on winding country roads. All together a brilliant package. So, if you are visiting this forum looking for input from Kamiq owners then I hope this contribution will be of assistance. One journalist said of the Kamiq: "This small SUV has no right to be so refined". That sums it up perfectly. Edit. 20/4/21 One small but I think notable observation: Be aware that on S and SE specs the passenger seat is not height adjustable. It has to be selected from the options list.

Engine covers Kamiq SE 1.0 TSI 110 DSG
Thank you for excellent post. All is clear, now. Even without a torch Thanks to everyone who contributed.

Indicator bulbs
While inspecting under bonnet re-previous thread on engine cover I noticed the orange reflection of the indicator bulb. This prompted me to have a look at where the bulb is located and access should replacement be necessary. I've since revisited and must say, if the occasion arises, it doesn't look like its a straight forward task. Has anyone had to replace?

Engine covers Kamiq SE 1.0 TSI 110 DSG
Thanks, FrankNicklin. Didn't spot your post whilst I was typing my previous post. You've saved me a journey. Unrelated to thread. Dealer is sending me a torch and a USB-C adapter FOC. The latter I can understand and appreciate, the former? There's no mounting.

Engine covers Kamiq SE 1.0 TSI 110 DSG
Can someone confirm the pic in the first post with the airbox and cover in place is of a Kamiq engine bay? As for the other pic. I found it on Google and it might well be of an Octavia. However, for the purposes of the subject, engine covers, it makes the point. - there are no covers over the engine. Latest. Took these pics of our Kamiq this morning. As you can see has no engine covers. The coil packs and what I assume at the front of the pic is the MAF are totally exposed. A few years ago I had an engine fire in a 2007 Audi A4 2.0 TFSI which I was informed was as a result of water ingress to the coil pack cores during engine bay valeting - numpties used a power washer. Okay, that's not likely to happen with our new Kamiq but accidents happen and in the absence of a cover there's noting to stop a repeat of ingress to the cores. Of course, modern design may have remedied this. Here's hoping. Re Nahkri's post. Isn't it typical of the bean counters? Noise? Our previous car was a 2018 Audi A3, S-line Saloon with the 1.0L 115 engine, DSG. Can't say there's any discernible difference in noise inside the car between that and the Kamiq. I can't comment on Kamiq with or without engine covers fitted. To repeat the question I asked at the top: Can someone confirm the pic in the first post with the airbox and cover in place is of a Kamiq engine bay?

Previous as per Google pic on another Kamiq. Here's a pic of the configuration on our Kamiq.

Engine covers Kamiq SE 1.0 TSI 110 DSG
On closer examination of the Goolge'd pics I can see that one of the 'covers' is in fact the air box. The other is a cover over the coil pack. I've just popped out and had a look under the bonnet of our Kamiq and the airbox on our engine is to the rhs of the engine, not on the top, as in the Google pics. So, that's a design change. But there is nothing covering the top of the engine, The coil packs would have no protection should there be an ingress of water. Anyway, hopefully, I'll get to the bottom of it tomorrow.

Engine covers Kamiq SE 1.0 TSI 110 DSG
Our Kamiq SE 1.0 TSI 110PS DSG was delivered on Friday 12th March. I did the usual checks for damage and compliance with the spec we ordered. Other than the torch, which I later discovered in here Skoda had discontinued, all seemed in order. Today, I gave a guided tour to a couple of my golfing buddies. When it came to viewing under the bonnet one of them commented right away on something I had overlooked - an engine cover. There is a good reason why I overlooked; there's no engine cover on our Kamiq. On arriving home I looked at lots of images of the 110 engine; not only in the Kamiq but in other VW group models, all of which showed not just one but two engine covers on that engine. Tomorrow, I'll go to our local Skoda dealership and see if it has a newly arrived Kamiq with 110 engine. Hopefully that'll clarify the situation. In the meantime can anyone here shed some light on the matter?

New Car today
My contact with the dealer has only been with the staffer in finance. In saying she’d send one was more a gesture than acknowledging it had been omitted. Anyway, I’ve been back in touch and requested that in lieu of a foc torch I’d be happy to accept a USB-C adapter.

Kamiq SE Ownership
Only driven a few miles but even so I I have no hesitation in agreeing with Kierol. The Kamiq SE on 17" Volans is a very fine car indeed.

New Car today
I've just removed the cover from where the torch would be located and there's no housing or charging cables behind it. So, a torch is no longer supplied as standard on the SE. Well, on mine it isn't. Obviously the dealer wasn't aware of this or wouldn't have agreed to post one to me. I'm still wondering; if not the torch what was in the discarded small bubble wrap bag in the boot. Anyway, moving on. Previous car was 2018 Audi A3 1.0 DSG S line. I liked it very much. That's the main reason I chose the Kamiq with the 1.0 engine and the DSG. And I have to say I am very impressed with the Kamiq. So much so I reckon I like it even more than the A3. Okay, early days but initial impressions are very favourable.

New Car today
As I said in first post the dealer has agreed to supply a torch. That implies it should have been included. However, dealers have been known to make mistakes!!!!!!!!!!!!! You raise a good point. I might be in for a surprise when I remove the blanking plate only to find there's no interface connection to power/charge the torch. Or, is the torch battery powered with for instance AA batteries? I'll remove the plate and report back. Like you I'm not too bothered. But it might come in handy.

New Car today
Took delivery of Kamiq SE yesterday, 12th March. Looked in boot and lying in the lhs storage compartment was a small bubble wrap bag - empty. I was aware a torch was included in the UK spec and surmised the empty bag must at some point have contained said torch. I informed the dealer. Shortly thereafter I received an email informing me that a torch would be posted out in the next few days. From reading this thread it is clear this is not a first. As such I'm inclined to conclude they are being nicked. So much for the PDI.

rejoining after 11 years away
Way back in 2007/10 while the owner of a brilliant wee Mk1 Fabia vRS I was a very active member, registered as Ming. Unfortunately I've had to change user name to Fabill as Ming was linked to an email that is now redundant. I'd very much like to get back to being registered with user name Ming. If anyone knows how I can do that please advise. I've just taken delivery of a Kamiq SE 1.0 110 DSG hence my return to Briskoda. Looking forward to the banter.
