  1. You can try eBay if somebody is selling a used copy Otherwise you can use the new Haynes Online Manuals, which wouldn’t be my choice but sadly that is the way Haynes have gone
  2. There was an Emergency Services package for the Octavia, not sure what year they introduced it, the was to tell if the fat had it was the suspension components, springs and anti roll bar were all Blue, the upgrades where made by Eibach I think
  3. I had Bridgestone tyres (RF)on my 745Le XDrive from purchase, was from a BMW Dealer and the tyres where new, I had the geometry checked a few weeks after purchase and it was spot on 20k miles later (6 months) and the fronts where wearing on the outside edge and the rears in the inside edge. Replaced with Goodyear Eagle F1 (RF) and no more even wear Since changed to Pirelli’s PX4 (Non RF in MO/* spec) still no uneven wear. The OE Bridgestones on our Smart ForFour (bought new in 2017) also wore unevenly. Our eTron 55 Sportback is also on Bridgestone tyres but so far they are wearing ok, but they were brand new when purchased (car is on a 71 plate) and after a year it has only done 8000 easy miles, no sign of uneven wear yet though.
  4. My car has one of those fitted by a previous owner, it’s ok but looks rubbish. Would prefer a properly done leather wheel. Will likely just have a look at eBay and find a VRs wheel, perhaps even a VRs interior as they are pretty cheap for mk2 Octavia’s
  5. Was your original ones leather? We have a low spec 1.6 FSI that has a plastic wheel and I was thinking to buy a Vrs wheel But the link looks pretty good and it would be nice to keep the original wheel but improve it a little
  6. I would start by spraying WD40 down the rear of the pulleys one by one. I had a Pug 405 GLX TD back in the 90’s that had a similar noise, a quick spray of WD40 once a day cured it, did 100k miles like that as a Courier/Minicab driver. Traded it in like that. Not saying you should keep driving it if it gets rid of the noise but it is a good way to diagnose the issue The only noise our little 1.6 FSi Auto makes is a slight Camchain rattle if you leave it parked for a couple of weeks without running the engine, but start it up weekly and it’s a quiet as a mouse
  7. London ULEZ plan will be copied by every City in England. That is something you need to consider when buying a Euro 5 diesel. As long as the price reflects the fact you might have to pay £12:50 a day to go anywhere near a City you are all good. Not everybody goes anywhere near a City. I am about to sell our 2013 (facelift) Octavia Diesel Estate, it’s a good car and has been 100% reliable and has only done 120k odd Had a hard life as an NHS RRV and has the updated rear suspension, which was a rare option, you can spot it because it’s painted blue. It will be a bargain for somebody, will be putting it up on here and eBay with a fresh MOT, might need some brakes for the MOT as it has hardly been used for last couple of years as work is inside the initial ULEZ expansion, so it was replaced with an Astra Estate 1.4T Auto.
  8. My daughter has the 1.5 in her Audi Q2, its a DSG. Not had any problems so far and she has had the car for 6 months and covered nearly 6000 miles.
  9. I would definitely try and at least clean the EGR. I can see why you would think now is the time to get rid, we thought the same for out Scout as even though it’s only done 112k it has had a hard previous life in the NHS. Our 2012 MK2 Scout is certainly more desirable than our 2014 MK3 Estate if we were to try and sell it, making it more expensive to replace.
  10. Apart from making your far more sellable to a private buyer I don’t think the Dealer will give you any extra so you may as well take off anything that has value. I would probably try and sell it privately as a well maintained Octavia 4x4 would surely be fairly sought after?
  11. I would have edited my post but can’t seem to find an option to do that.
  12. Thanks for the Hint, Tip or Advice ????
  13. Just thought I would ask the question to see what the consensus was. We have a couple of Skoda Octavias, one is a MK3 2014 and the other a MK2 2012 Scout. There was a noise from the Aux Belt and having had that problem before on a different vehicle with the same engine we knew it was the Aux Belt Tensioner. I changed it myself and job went as usual, though after a day or so the noise returned, I bought the parts from Euro Car Parts which have usually been spot on. But I am now thinking it might just be the cheap pattern parts that are the issue and to source the parts from Skoda themselves and do the job again. I would like to add that I would like to have a serious conversation with the individual that designed the way the tensioner mounts to this engine, they were defo having a bad day! Thanks for any hints, tips or info!
