  1. The whole idea is completely different, as the car should be independent from your phone. For the data. This was initial idea before Skoda decided to proceed the with cubic telecom and very high data rates. There were separate sim slots for sim cards. Assuming that you use the Kodiaq in your homeland 90% of the time, cubic telecom rates are unacceptable. Most of the time I use built-in Internet radio (they have agreement with radio.net) and I find more convenient to use separate router than playing with the smartphone. The connection is always there, and always connected, Especially with short trips it is much easier.
  2. I am using HUAWEI Mobile Wifi E5676 which is connected 24/7 in the car. You can use the adapter for dashcam, and connect it directly in the fusebox at recomended fuse for constant curent for dash cam. The router drains very little current so there is no problem to be connected 24/7. Battery size ( here 1500mAh ) is not important.
  3. I am from Macedonia, and my Kodiaq is delivered January 2021. On the first service there was a huge update regarding the infotainment. I was allowed to be present during the process. It took about 30 minutes. Then, the updates begun. Day by day. As a country we are not listed for Cubic telecom data plans to be used, but all the updates and services (Myskoda etc) go without it and free of charge of any data plan (if you purchase the services). Esim works for everything except data plans. As I read form members here, and some other members from Germany, they all complain about price level of data plans, and this is why more people are using 3/4G battery routers in their Kodiaqs. The Internet radio works good, and you are not stuck with the high price of Cubic data plans. For example I get 20GB/monthly free of charge in my regular contract with separate sim card.
  4. I am using my own 4G battery router connected in the car all the time, which act as a hotspot. This is much cheaper than using the cubic telecom data plans.
  5. The official system unlock for the navigation update is probably done after the first annual service. At least this happened to me after 15.000 km service. Then the update of the NAV went OTA in 2-3 days time. Please note that I am using my own 4G battery router connected in the car all the time, which act as a hotspot. This is much cheaper than using the cubic telecom data plans.
  6. Hi from Macedonia. I read the discussion and I had same problems. My Kodiaq is manufactured 01/21 and it ended up with change of a module under the steering wheel ( left side ) The most important thing is both icons ( globe and privacy ) which are at the top middle of the screen are both working and present. I also solved the problem with the missing sim slot in newer models by adding 4G battery router which always have 12V. This router gives the net to the car, via Wifi. (of course with much cheaper plan ) The built in Internet radio works perfectly, and also all the items which need internet.
  7. I would use the same installation for powering WiFi battery router as I have 50GB data/per month to spend and the kodiaqs with prod.date 2021 come without sim slot. As I learned that the power outlets disconnect 10 minutes after switching off, maybe a fuse number. 40 is OK ? ( 12-volt power outlets ) Now I use the standard cigarette power outlet but it is a mess with the cable. What is your opinion ?
