  1. The iV is a PHEV and ours heats and cools when on electric power alone, as I said. My question was whether there was additional heat input when the IC is running.
  2. A friend is looking at buying an Octavia iV and asked me whether the heater works when on e-power, as some vehicles he is considering need the IC engine to be running. Our aircon heats and cools when on e-power alone, but does anyone know whether there is a water/air heat exchanger when the IC engine is running to boost the heat?
  3. Thank you Sneal. If I do get Skoda Connect to work, I'll ask for a licence extension, then not renew it. £36 is a lot since I can do what I need (charging on/off time, pre-heat the car) on the infotainment unit and I have a remote temperature sensor so I can check whether I need my big coat.
  4. How much is Skoda Connect, please? If I do eventually manage to login I'll ask for goodwill gesture towards a renewal subscription.
  5. I fitted the rear and tunnel mats from our Karoq and they fit perfectly. The mats have edges, so dirt and gravel are collected well.
  6. My wife likes more heat than I do and our unsync temperatures have always remained as set before and after the control unit (MIB) was replaced. If you would like me to test it I could set sync and see what happens.
  7. Hi Erik99. I've reported the problems in another thread but in brief the main issue was not being able to save favourites in the SatNav. Other problems included the alarm going off regularly, virtual instrument display changing itself, e-power not selectable, and a few other little glitches. The 'new' control module fixed all these issues, but now I cannot link to Skoda Connect. I was able to use MySkoda before the fix, but now it's not available. I can put up with this as I can programme the aircon and charging times in the car, but it's useful to be able to do this from inside the house. I have a Skoda contact who is their UK Connect person, although he's not technically-competent - he forwards queries to HQ. The dealer swapped the control unit with another one which was working correctly in a newly-delivered car. I don't know whether that left someone with my problems!
  8. I've tried everything to link with Skoda Connect, as has the dealer. I now have a contact at Skoda UK who deals with it, but he's non-technical and can only take advice from HQ. When I try to set it up, I go through all the procedures and end with a message 'please be patient' followed either by the message for ages or'Connection not available at this time'. The little white globe is showing and the SOS button is green. Apparently, HQ insists on photos, rather than accepting a written submission. Before the new MIB unit was fitted, it worked perfectly. Do I just wait for a software update? This is now the only fault, so I can live with it, but it would be useful to be able to connect to the MySkoda app. Does anyone else have just this problem and if it was fixed, how was it done?
  9. More good news! Skoda Finance has offered £170 in recognition of the inconvenience. Right at the start of my complaint, I stated that I'd owned five Skodas previously for 18 years and the sixth was the only one with problems. So Skoda does take customer relations seriously. I'm a happy Skoda user and hope to be for many more years.
  10. I've been able to calculate more accurately how much electricity is being used to charge the iV. This is based on our electricity use being fairly constant but does not include for the fact that the electricity was cheaper last year. At the last refuel the car had done 2630 miles and cost £162.34 for petrol and £96.88 for electricity or 9.9p/mile. When the cost goes down from 16.66p/kW hr to 5p/kW hr with Octopus Go off-peak electricity, this will reduce to £29.07, or assuming a 50/50 split between IC and e-power, 2630 miles for £191.41 or 7.3p/mile compared with £335.20 on petrol alone or 14p/mile. Our Karoq cost 17.8p/mile for fuel.
  11. Good news today. We've had a few problems with the Octavia iV, all software-related, as I've written in previous threads. We were always able to drive the car, so the problems were more of an irritation. Anyway, it's now all been fixed bar one minor glitch. It's taken nearly five months, but although I was firm in my attitude to Skoda, I was always polite and indicated that I'd much prefer to keep the car rather than reject it. Today as a goodwill gesture, I've been sent an e-mail giving the car a free service. All credit to Skoda UK: I have had a Customer Relations Manager keeping in regular contact with me and the dealer and Derek Slack Motors couldn't have been more helpful. It's the best and most economical car I've ever driven, 101 mpg at the last fill after 600 miles and the acceleration is stunning. I've now been given another reference number as the remaining issue has been handed over to the Skoda Connect technical team for their attention.
  12. Since the MIB unit was changed and coded, all the previous 'glitches' have now gone. The only remaining issue is the inability to connect to Skoda Connect. The car was at the dealer yesterday and was in the workshop for 3 1/2 hours. Two software updates were applied, but there is still no connection with Skoda Connect. The car is wonderful otherwise, so now rejection is not going ahead. The dealer has been very helpful and I cannot fault their assistance. As soon as there is another software update, I'll be informed. Meanwhile I'll carry on enjoying the best car I have ever owned!
  13. Lane assist is quite subtle in our Octy iV. A gentle twitch when overtaking or drifting offline and an occasional 'bong' as a reminder. ACC is very effective too - today I followed a bus at 50mph on ACC and as the bus slowed it kept me at a safe distance as the speed dropped.
  14. On our Octavia iV the total mileage is shown in the same place as cruise control settings, so if CC is off, then you'll get the value. Trip mileage is on the bottom right. The LH virtual instrument display can be set to show several values - oil and water temp etc - but I have the remaining battery % on display. If you select Vehicle - Data the it shows current journey, since refill and long-term values for mpg, remaining range etc. data,
  15. Extremely happy! 101mpg over the last 600 miles, almost everything works properly, no recent glitches. The only remaining problem is the inability to connect the car to MySkoda or Skoda Connect. The dealer is having another attempt tomorrow to connect the car, but if not then it's such a great car that I would not reject it.
  16. The first screen wash sprayed the headlights today, even when the lever was blipped. In the great scale of things, this is a trivial problem for me.
  17. Before the new control unit was fitted, I had no problem in connecting MySkoda to an iPad and an Android 'phone. Since the new control unit was fitted and coded, which enabled me to save favourites in the SatNav, I've been unable to connect the app. I've tried a number of times, as has the service manager here at home, without success. I have entered the VIN number into the Skoda Connect site, then when prompted to register I then go to the car and follow all the instructions, including e-mail, password and the other required details. It then says 'loading settings' then 'be patient' followed by a long wait for nothing to happen. What is strange is that I'm shown in silhouettte as a user, with my first name and first letter of the surname, but there is a padlock icon alongside. I've been asked to take the car in to the dealer as they have a strong wi-fi signal, but I'm puzzled as it worked before and there must be communication to be part-way there. The SOS button has a green light and the white globe is there. The app is very useful as I can set the charging times from inside the house and switch on the aicon if needed. The car is now so nearly perfect, so can anyone suggest a solution? Thanks, Jim.
  18. I've only just read this thread and appreciate the technical help from Briskoda members. Yesterday, when I drew the car out of the (dark) garage, the headlights were on. I washed the windscreen, which was dirty, and the headlight washers covered the clean bonnet with spray too. Now I know how to clean the screen only. Thanks!
  19. Hi GiantKiwi. I looked up PPF and it is a very expensive product normally used for wrapping vehicles. Do you have a contact who would provide a small amount for applying to sills and the boot lip? If so I'd be grateful for your help. Thanks Jim.
  20. I sent an e-mail to Rod McLeod, the MD of Skoda UK expressing my disappointment after 18 happy years of Skoda ownership. He claims to read all his e-mails and certainly I was allocated a contact at the Executive Office immediately. She has been extremely helpful, replies to e-mails and regularly telephones to check on progress with my complaint. The dealer has also been very helpful, as I've related in another thread. Our only remaining issue is the inability to link with Skoda Connect and the MySkoda app, which was easily done before the control (MIB) unit was replaced. So rejection is unlikely and the car is now almost perfect and the best car I've ever owned. It's just a shame it's taken four months to get to this position.
  21. Thanks john999boy. A new battery has fixed the issue. Four months doesn't seem long as our two previous Kessy car keys lasted for at least two years.
  22. Hi Andy. Our clock also went wrong regularly, but once I set it to internet time it has always shown the correct time.
  23. Thanks for the advice. I also get the same message with my wife's key, but I'll change my battery anyway.
  24. There is another minor glitch. I keep getting the message 'change battery key'. It's only 4 months old - should I change it or ignore the message? Thanks in advance.
