New car ordered!
I’ve just been told early December for delivery, but that’s come through the lease company so no idea if it’s accurate or not.

Trip counter
Read the manual! I would assume not though, most of that sort of thing is in the trip computer and the last few new cars I’ve had didn’t have a physical reset button. My 97 Volvo does but that’s all mechanical!!

Reject or fix?
I got a V5 for a change of car in 4 days last week, that was done online initially and I got the actual printed form 4 working days later.

Dissapointed from Skoda and their customer support
I think if you aren't patient and don't understand the difficulties the world is having right now with supplies of many things you may be best cancelling your order and buying that VW.....

Dissapointed from Skoda and their customer support
Its probably because they don't know themselves. No point in giving you a made up date which is wrong. Have some patience!

I have no idea why you don't beleive the semiconductor issue, its well know its a huge problem right now. Have you not heard of something called Covid19? Its affecting loads of things, computers/cars, everything which is in higher demand right now has extra problems becuase of the shortage.

Maximum item length that can be carried in estate
I would have thought the best way would be to put the front passenger seat all the way forward, remove the headrest and recline the seat all the way back, and fold the rear near side seat down too obviously. Should be enough room. That’s how I’ve carried long things in cars before. Take blankets and cardboard to brace it and stop it rubbing/banging on upholstery or plastic bits.

headrests with wings /sleep package/ part number request
I know my wife would love a set for the front seat for long journeys, don’t care what they look like as long as they work properly.

headrests with wings /sleep package/ part number request
Would they fit on the front passenger seat? Anyone know?

New to Skoda - where to buy parts/accessories UK?
How small do they have to be?

New to Skoda - where to buy parts/accessories UK?
Problem is that I’m ordering a car via my work via an unknown dealer. So I haven’t got that purchase relationship unfortunately.

New to Skoda - where to buy parts/accessories UK?
Ordered my Octavia and thinking about some extras for it when it (eventually) arrives. Where’s the best place in the UK to order from? Probably going to get mudflaps and would like the rubber mats too, maybe a VRS grill surround who knows?

Don't hit pigeons.
I used to live in the countryside as a kid and hitting pheasants was a common thing. Sometimes there would be zero damage, sometimes things would break. My dad always had plastic headlight protectors fitted on his cars just in case as they were cheap to replace but the light units weren’t.

Reject or fix?
To be honest I reckon it’s had a crash and not fixed properly, the mismatched panels are a big hint there. The smaller software glitches might be what other people are experiencing but if it’s been pranged that could explain the engine problems and body damage quite easily - it’s clearly not been fixed properly and the sort of person who wouldn’t care if it had been fixed properly is the sort of person who wouldn’t get the software updates needed to get rid of the glitches. Probably a fleet owner who in my experience treat their cars like crap. There’s no way I’d keep a car that’s had body damage and not sorted properly - mismatched panels on the outside - what’s been bodged underneath where you can’t see it?

Free Mk4 Boot Cover - TOFTT
That looks really good - appreciate the side pockets still being available, can’t do without them.

New car ordered!
Yeah it is a shame but it’s the best option for me so I’ll happily wait.

Keeping the selected preferences
Probably a duff battery rather than the stop/start function. I did 155000 miles, 3/4 of which were in and around towns for my job, the stop start working all the time, and had no battery issues, that was between 2 different cars. All my colleagues did the same and no issues reported, they all used modern stop/start cars of various brands.

New car ordered!
So I’ve placed my order with my works lease company - 1.4 iV estate in petrol blue with led pack and 17” Pulsar aero wheels. Chuff knows how long it’ll take to arrive!! Looking forward to my first ever VAG car, I’ve been impressed with the Skoda at each visit to the dealers, especially after going to see the other options I could have gone for. So glad to be back in a decent estate again! Well, eventually anyway.

Keeping the selected preferences
Frightened? Really? Are you also frightened that the battery will electrocute you or the AC will give you frostbite? I think you need to work on yourself a little bit, if you’re frightened of stop/start that’s a bit weird. I’ve done tens of thousands, probably hundreds of thousands of miles in stop start cars and after the novelty of the first car I had with it wore off (a few weeks) I don’t really notice it now - and I notice everything in cars that isn’t right (like my dad I can’t stand any rattles or things that don’t work as they should). I don’t know a single person who has had an issues with a S/S car or even heard an anecdote of it not working. However I have seen the real tests that show it saves you 10% in fuel at least and it stops you contributing so much to horrific air quality in towns which affects kids most of all. You’d probably have a panic attack if you drove my last car, a Toyota Auris hybrid, which turned the engine off at any available opportunity - but yet it was the fastest car at pulling out of junctions swiftly that I’ve owned. Stop being ridiculously paranoid and selfish and leave it turned on. I don’t think you need to adapt your driving style, it just works fine anyway.

Keeping the selected preferences
I’ve never driven a car where the stop start could be disabled automatically. It should not be anyway as it circumnavigates the emissions controls. More to the point I’ve never driven a car where the stop/start was even a slight issue. In fact its something I don’t even really notice working any more, it just happens in the background. Why would you want to turn it off all the time? Makes no sense.

What is “towbar preparation” and what can I do with it?
Yeah I understand that but can you actually fit one?

What is “towbar preparation” and what can I do with it?
Considering ordering a new PHEV Octavia Estate and you can’t spec a full towbar. However you can spec a towbar preparation. I know exactly what the towbar prep is but why offer it and not the full towbar? Can I fit a proper towbar later on or not? It’s a bit odd!!

Potential new Octavia SEL iV owner but concerned
Thanks. FWIW we went to look at a Kuga as its another option and even as big Ford fans we really disliked it. We love big estate cars! Wagons FTW. Mind you even the Octavia isn’t as good at being an estate car compared to our 2nd car - see attached picture!!

Potential new Octavia SEL iV owner but concerned
Yes I understand that but I can’t see that it won’t be fixed 4-6months from now when I get mine! I don’t really have many other options of a plug in estate, and I’d rather walk than have an SUV.

Potential new Octavia SEL iV owner but concerned
I have had a look and have to say the problems people are left with seem fairly minor now. I will probably use my phone for sat nav anyway. Looks like I need to get the car ordered ASAP!! Wonder if a car though a big lease company might come a bit quicker??
