  1. Going through the threads on this forum it seems that no one does any research before they spend tens of thousands of (insert currency here) of their money. Complaining and wanting to change so much stuff, suspension, in car ICE, charging points, how the safety stuff is set up, fitting options after receiving the car, removing options after receiving the car. Blimey it’s crazy!! I spent a while going through the options of all the cars I was considering and did appropriate test drives to decide what I wanted. And now I have a car which I am happy with. Do some people just throw some dice to decide what to order? Or were you forced at gunpoint to get an Octavia? I know I’ll get flamed for this as some people wont notice a (hopefully well intended) joke or are the perpetually offended. 😂😂😂
  2. Does it really matter if you’re only in the car for 15mins as you have said? It’s barely 4 songs, or maybe one if it’s Pink Floyd. 😂😂
  3. You would change the tracks using the car controls anyway.
  4. Or go to your local paint specialist who will be able to mix you a can of paint a lot cheaper!!
  5. What car do you have? I have an SEL with 17” wheels and I surprised at how good the ride is, it’s the best car I’ve had for our terrible roads where I live in the UK. I don’t have sports suspension or DCC. The suspension isn’t great for spirited driving though, bumps in corners knock it off line when driving fast but I didn’t buy it as a sports car.
  6. I think I’d rather just leave it on my pocket or put it in another place than take my dash apart to disconnect it. You might want to use it on longer journeys anyway, or a passenger can use it to reduce the cables trailing around.
  7. Just interested - why would you want to disconnect it?
  8. I think it’s wise with the mk4 to spend some time reading the manual while inside the car to make sure you know how to get the best out of everything - also there is always things which you might never know about until is revealed in the owners manual. That has been the case in the last 3 new cars I’ve had which were much more basic electronically.
  9. That would be good but I use my phone in different cars so as long as I could log into my Google account in the car it would be good but annoying otherwise.
  10. They are fine in my RHD car!
  11. I have the inbuilt nav on my SEL and it’s rubbish compared to Google maps - I’ll never use it unless I lose my phone or something But that’s the same for most cars nowadays hence why CarPlay/Android auto is so popular as a car can just be specced with that rather than develop or buy in a native sat nav.
  12. I forgot to say, I really like how you’ve made yours, really neatly made. One question though- does it matter which side the USB-C sockets are on? Mine are on the left but mine is a RHD.
  13. I don’t think I’ve ever felt any need to boost my phone signal! I don’t know about lower models but my SEL integrates the phone very well into the infotainment already wirelessly.
  14. Let me know and I’ll be buying one!
  15. I’ve just ordered a Brodit vent mount - it’s available. In a previous car I combined it with a Quadlock mount - I’ll post up how I did it when it all arrives and I redo it for the Octy.
  16. You need to use this. https://www.willtheyfit.com According to that the wheel with a 35 offset will 6.7mm further away from the strut and 19.4mm further out from the original wheel. Fitment on the arches will then depend on your tyre choice and suspension setup, might be ok with some stretch? ET 40 will be almost the same on the inside and 15mm further out into the arches so that might be a better bet and you can always play around with a 5mm or less spacer afterwards to get it just right. Put the numbers in and have a play around and see what you think.
  17. I had the option of going for 18” wheels and stuck with the optional 17” choice as I wanted a bigger tyre for the potholed and speed bump roads here in West Yorkshire. I’m really glad I got the 17” as the ride is fantastic, comfy, takes the edges of the bumps but not wallowy. Miles better than the Golf I swapped it for.
  18. Might have been someone reversing into your car and never leaving a note. If it’s just been nudged a little with another cars bumper it could easily crack without leaving any other marks.
  19. If you go to a quality tinting place they will be able to measure your current tint and advise if you can go any darker. My SEL has a pretty dark tint on the back, not sure I’d want it any darker as it would look a bit odd compared to the front windows.
  20. I suppose if it’s a brand new car there won’t be much correction needed - the longer it’s left the more expensive it will be! FWIW I just got my new Skoda and it came from a dealer in Cambridge and it’s had an excellent wax job done on it - impressive water beading!!
  21. If you’re getting a ceramic coat done it’s going to be £400 easy due to the time it takes to get to the point where it can be applied. It’s worth it though. The good thing about using a pro retailer is that they can help you choose which products to use in the future and the processes you need to use to keep the car looking great.
  22. The new update to the iPhone software fixes some CarPlay glitches, including non responsiveness. Not sure if it includes the colour issue as I didn’t read through all the release notes.
  23. Just tried the inflator supplied with the car, it reaches all 4 wheels easily without even having to go through the cabin. No problem as far as I can see. Its not hard to get to the inflator either, just fold the rear seat and lift up the flap behind the seat base.
  24. It will have wireless CarPlay even if you didn’t spec the wireless charging.
