Turning auto door lock off
I have a Volvo 940 which is 25 years old and 200k miles and the door locks still work perfectly (it has central locking) with no signs of wear. I think auto locks are nothing to worry about.

Turning auto door lock off
Really? I don’t think that’ll be a problem for a decade or more.

OCTAVIA NX front grill
I am sure I watched a video on how to do this a couple of months ago but I can’t find it now at all, sorry. If you figure out how to do it please share!

Owner/member ideas
My thinking is that the front end looks a bit “wide mouthed” with the chrome grille surround. I’m getting black wheels (ish) so it should be more balanced. I’d agree with seeing it in person, it might look better than expected when I get it.

I see a lot of the mods are to VRS models but anyone done anything to a SEL model? Mine will be in petrol green. I like the chrome round the windows and roof rails but I think the chrome grille surround doesn’t look great. Anyone have any suggestions or comments on that? I was considering a black grille surround and black badges.

Pirelli P7 no sidewall protection
They only corrode when you don’t look after them properly. Kerbing can accelerate issues for sure as you’ve broken the lacquer seal in some way so moisture can get in. Biggest issue is drive through car washes - just don’t use them and clean your car properly at home with the right equipment and products.

2.0TDI Octy mk3 Winter Wheels on 1.5 TSI Octy mk4?
Just ring your insurance company and ask, can’t hurt! Also have a look here: https://www.abi.org.uk/products-and-issues/choosing-the-right-insurance/motor-insurance/winter-tyres/ You can check your owners manual to see what tyres are listed. Often there will be a couple of different sizes listed which should all be ok and “tested” with the car, even at the same wheel size.

2.0TDI Octy mk3 Winter Wheels on 1.5 TSI Octy mk4?
Put all the info into https://www.willtheyfit.com/ and it'll give you all in the results you need to see if its acceptable to you. Seems a shame to sell and buy almost identical wheels! And costly!

Delivery times?
I’ve had a chat with a friend who is a fairly senior regional Audi guy and he says Audi are running at 10 months wait for their new cars.

Love at first sight.
Just buy an old car then, cos if you don’t want that stuff no new car comes without them.

Am I being a bit thick or……
Just go to your local parts specialist who supply to the trade, that’ll be your best price. There’s one in every decent sized town. in Huddersfield it’s Andrew Page. Always helpful and prices are normal all the time (eg no discount nonsense).

Vibrations in curves
Maybe something stuck in the tyre tread which has now dropped out?

Reverse camera: night vision
I have to add that I had a Toyota Auris for 2 years with a rear camera and it was amazing, I’ve never been in another car with as good a picture in all light conditions. I’ve not been in any luxury brand cars though.

Octavia Brakes.
Just get some different EBC pads to change the brake feel, pretty simple and cheap upgrade.

Delivery times?
I reckon Skoda will be getting the parts they need sparodically, so there probably won’t be any way of second guessing what cars will be finished and the timescales. If they get a load of electronics in which enable them to finish, let’s say, cars with options A, C, D and F and your car has them it might come on time or maybe even a bit quicker than cars which need options B and E too, even though you ordered after those people. It might be that the parts for option G might not arrive for 6 months so all those cars will be at the back of the queue for a while. Even saying all that, it probably isn’t that simple in real life anyway. You’ve probably just got to assess your decision to wait or not on its own merits - just don’t get your hopes up that just because someone who ordered a car same time as you get theirs that yours is on the way!!

Magsafe holder for octavia?
Sorry to agree with others but I’ve had Quadlock phone holders for years and I’ve just been using an apple car play car for a while and I have no need to see the phone either now. I have used ProClip attachments in the past and bolted a Quadlock mount to one, maybe if you got a MagSafe attacviemnt you could attach it to a ProClip? Just an idea. ProClip make a lot of mounts for police etc for attaching all sorts of stuff to the inside of your car, their mounts are ace as they are tailored to your car and mount in the trim gaps so there’s no screws or suckers or anything. https://www.brodit.co.uk/brodit/vehicles/Skoda/Octavia IV/2021.htm?steer=rhd

Delivery times?
Indeed - go to a website similar to Briskoda but for whatever make you are looking at and see what the wait times are like. There’s a reason why dealers are buying back nearly new cars for big markups to sell to customers! Friend of mine as telling me the Vw mini SUV his wife has - their local dealer wanted to buy it from them at the end of their lease for £7k more than the balloon payment they are able to pay to keep the car!!

Rear suspension fitting
i would very much doubt changing the suspension setup would be possible. Well at least with a cost which would be sane anyway. If you can find someone to change it (and able to get the parts, do the fabrication etc) I would guess it would be waaay more expensive than just trading in your car for a VRS instead.

Mine is through Zenith as well.

Delivery times?
It’s a bit hard to say for sure, I ordered it 20th July 21 but that was through my work portal - I have no idea what the route is after that as there may be steps my order has to go through before it is officially ordered like normal customer orders are. I was a bit sceptical at the start as they gave me a December date very quickly - they have stuck to that date until today. I have just read the update email again and it says “the dealership are still awaiting a confirmed build slot for your order and have therefore moved the expected delivery”. They also mentioned this date may change again and said the fleet orders and experiencing big delays.

Delivery times?
Looks like my car has been put back to Feb 2022. Was originally planned for Dec 2021. Not a massive problem as I have a hire car provided through my work until the new car arrives but I’d rather have the Skoda than a knackered 2 year old Insignia hire car. 😂 FWIW I have ordered an SEL iV estate, only options are LED light pack and the black wheels.
