Higher mileage 1.5 TSi
With the MkIV now being 5 or 6 years old I'm wondering how people are getting on with higher mileage vehicles? I've got a 21 plate with 50,000 on the clock but a change in circumstances means I'm going to be doing 15-20k a year from now on. Who's running a high mileage 1.5 TSi and how are they getting on with it? I had a 1.4TSi MkIII previously which did 106,000 in 9 years, I changed it when it needed a new clutch.

Radio Question
It's a terrible user interface for something as simple as a volume control. The 'slider' under the screen isn't illuminated so can't be seen in the dark. The scroll wheel on the steering wheel is not obvious. Terrible design, all to save a few quid on a knob.

Long life servicing
I wouldn't trust them to wash it properly to be honest (which is why I tell them not to wash it!). Who knows? I'm guessing if it says 9,400 miles to next service then they haven't done it?

Skoda OCTavia Ambient Light
I'd say that's a fault. I'd ask the dealer to look at it if still under warranty. I bet they'll be delighted.

Long life servicing
I relocated last year which means I now do a 400 mile round trip for work most weeks. Unsurprisingly I've racked up 10,000 miles in 7 months and the next service has come round quicker than I would like. After a bit of back and forth with the service department they have put me on long life servicing. Apparently this is just a software update, they use the same oil regardless of the service schedule. Who knew? Anyway, the car is now saying next service due in 9,400 after the 20 mile return journey from the dealers 🤣 The service schedule mystery continues. I will report back! In other news, considering a low mileage MkIII diesel.... or an Elroq

What year did the software issues stop ?
It is more to do with the software version than the age of the car. The majority of issues were fixed in software version 1941 and later. The software can be updated so if buying a 2022 car just ask the dealer to check the software version and update it before you purchase. And then check they've actually done it.

New software available version 1989
All fine this morning 🤷♂️ Checked SW and it's still on 1941. The other half said it asked her to update but she cancelled it. Will keep an eye out for updates and only apply when I have some time. Can anyone confirm whether the ACC issue is back as this is a key feature for me and I can't be doing with it being broken again. Does it fix itself after doing the factory reset after applying 1989?

New software available version 1989
I vaguely remember accepting an update a few days ago, don't think I've driven the car since, my other half has been out in it this evening and come back saying words to the effect of 'your stupid car is playing up again, the screen keeps going on and off!'. Expect I'm experiencing all the issues listed here, not been out to look at the car yet but will try to do the factory reset (if it allows me to). Not looking forward to trying the setup again, I have no idea what my S-PIN is (I shouldn't need a PIN to use my car). I've got to do a 190 mile journey for work on Monday night, won't be back until Wednesday night and won't be able to get to a dealer to try and fix it if it goes pear shaped. This is very poor from Skoda. I also suffered from many of the pre 1941 version issues so this is the second time the infotainment system has played up. This will be my last VAG car, the software is terrible. I work in IT, in financial services, so know the importance of proper testing. At best this is an inconvenience, at worst it is dangerous (the ACC issue). Wish me luck!

annoying message on startup
Yes, I'm getting this too. Another well tested software update from VAG.

Removing rear wheel?
Happy to confirm that Skoda Roadside assistance is worth the money and yes, he did just hit it with a hammer :-) Managed to get booked in for a replacement tyre on Monday lunchtime as I have to drive from Cumbria to Stratford upon Avon on Monday night. Was hoping to do it on the full-size spare but this is still limited to 50mph annoyingly 😠 Rear tyres are 5 years old and starting to crack on the sidewalls anyway.

Removing rear wheel?
Came down to a flat tyre this morning (thank you Cumbrian farmers for recent hedge cutting). Managed to get the bolts undone and the car jacked up but can't for the life of me get the wheel off. Is there a trick to this or could it be something to do with the electronic handbrake / auto hold? I've not started the car or even had the ignition on, I don't need to do that do I? Embarrassingly have now got Skoda assist on the way, so we'll see if that's worth the money then shall we. Nice way to spend a Sunday, got to do a 400 mile round trip for work this week.

Service record and next service due
Cheers. The app tells me this is a paid service and when I select Activate it takes me to another page where the option is available under Care Connect. I'm not paying £36 a year to see my service record!

Service record and next service due
Does anyone know if it's possible to see the full service history for your car? Gone are the days of a stamp in the logbook, but I can't for the life of me find the service record in the app. It only tells me I might have booked the car in last August, no mention of mileage or anything. Reason for asking... Skoda have emailed me saying I'm due a service, however I asked to be put on intermittent servicing and the car hasn't yet told me it needs another service. According to the app my next service is due in 1400 miles. Due to the lack of service record I've no idea when, or at what mileage the last service was carried out. Maybe I'll start writing it down on a piece of paper I keep in the glove box....

Cigarette Lighter Location
I think this is what Skoda call 'simply clever' I've got an ancient tyre inflator from Halfords that has plenty of cable but I still need to run it through the cabin to reach the NSF tyre 😕

Screenwash and rear wiper fuse?
Both the screenwash and rear wiper started working again the following day after turning the car off and on again. So a weird software issue (for a change) it would appear.
-
Screenwash and rear wiper fuse?
My screenwash has stopped working! It has fluid because I filled it up quite recently and it hasn't warned me that it is low. I don't think the tank, filter or jets are blocked as I can't hear the motor running (I had the filter blocked before and the motor still ran). It isn't frozen because it's been about +7 degrees for a few days npw. Also, the rear wiper (and screenwash) has stopped working so I'm pretty sure it's something electrical. As it's currently cold and dark outside can someone advise the following please 1) where are the fuses?! 2) what fuse do I need to replace? Thanks all!

Retro fit Android auto ?
21 plate SE-L running SW 1941. Yes it should have adaptive cruise control and Smartlink will support wireless Android Auto (which is fantastic btw) provided you have a reasonably up to date phone (not sure what Android version is required, my old Huawei P20 didn't work wirelessly but my Samsung S24 does)

Octavia iV SE L - Thoughts after 1 month
Using your indicators momentarily disables lane assist 😉

Key Battery
Temperatures have dropped and therefore my keyfob has stopped working. Exactly the same thing happened last winter. What a fantastically engineered system 😒

Updating Maps - Which USB-C Port?
My station logos were updated with the 1941 update, albeit some of them aren't the right logos 🙄

New Octavia - Central Armrest Ratcheting Issue
Mine doesn't 'click' but there is definitely a knack to making it work. I've added it to the (long) list of things that are slightly worse in the MkIV than the MkIII 🙄

Well bye bye Octavia
Personally I prefer an estate to an SUV but each to their own. On an unrelated point, where was the photo taken? Looks like the lake district somewhere but I can't place it. Ullswater?

Sunroof malfunction
They should fix it under warranty. But as an owner of a Skoda with a sunroof I have to say that the touch controls are naff and difficult to use. Bring back proper switches

Navigation system does not load.
So you wanted a CD player but didn't check it came with one before purchasing? 😉 CDs HAVE gone the way of cassettes and 8 tracks unfortunately. I remember when I bought my 2003 plate MkIV Golf from new that came with a 6 CD changer in the glovebox, it was like all my Christmases had come at once. Seriously though, the solution to your problem is to rip your CDs to a high-resolution mp3 format and then load onto a USB stick that you pop behind the gear lever (as you've done). BINGO, your entire music collection available in your car. NB: CD is not a high-fidelity medium, it's a compressed format like all digital audio.

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
My dealership almost knew I was going to mention the dodgy infotainment system and software update before I did. They did the upgrade (under warranty) while it was in for a service. I'd suggest either pushing them or finding a better dealer. With so much software built into cars now, saying things like 'our wifi is secure' is bordering on incompetence.
