Graphite Grey or Brilliant Silver
I regularly see a VRs in the Phoenix Orange on my commute, looks fantastic! To the OP I'd go with the grey, silver never really 'sparkles' however much you polish it, a dark grey when polished and waxed looks very cool IMO

Laura's voice getting deeper overnight
Larry transitioned to Laura when my car went in to have the 1941 update applied. Bet that was a shock for him.

Climate control Sync, work around.
Good tip! This all relates back to the software not being properly designed for the UK market and RHD cars. In a LHD car the passenger controls would be the drivers controls and therefore the 'master'. See also: the sat nav only working in km.

Feb 2023 VRS - Umbrella or not?
When I bought my used 21 plate MkIV the dealer provided a 'goody bag' in the boot which included the umbrella (actually quite good) and the ice scraper that lives the petrol flap (completely useless). I had no idea there was also a space for an umbrella in the passenger door (this would make sense given the cars are available as LHD and RHD come to think of it) Anyway, long story short I may now have to source an umbrella for the passenger door for Mrs Woodhouse to use 🙂

Anyone towed with the MK4
There are other threads on here which suggest that unless towbar prep was specified from the factory that the vehicles are 0 rated for towing, which seems a somewhat dubious practice from Skoda. It's also been mentioned that the same applies to the Kodiaq, an SUV favoured by people who... like to tow caravans, I think it may also have been suggested that this was an administrative error by Skoda rather than intentional. I'd be interested to know if more recent cars are coming out of the factory as 0 rated? I have a 21 plate which is 0 rated, I have no intention of towing a caravan or a trailer but do have a towbar mounted bike carrier that I might want to fit someday, again, other threads on here provide different opinions regarding whether one can attach a towbar mounted bike carrier to a 0 rated vehicle. We had an aftermarket towbar fitted (for the bike carrier) on our 63 plate MkIII Octavia and it was faultless. Well done Skoda 👍

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
Yes, funnily enough I've just returned from the dealer about 30 minutes ago. I was booked in for a service and when I dropped it off I said there were a few 'bugs' I'd like them to look at, note that I intentionally didn't start by saying I wanted a software update. This then lead to a conversation about the infotainment system restarting and the ACC issue which the receptionist seemed to be well aware of and said she thought a software update might be required!. I then produced a printed copy of the TPI document listed on page 12 of this thread with my particular issues highlighted. Long story short they have applied the software update and no issues experienced on the (admittedly very short) 8 mile drive home. They have also sorted the Primary User issue and setup the online services for me. Very happy with the overall service received tbh.

TSi fuel economy
That's seriously impressive 🤯 What does that equate to out of a tank? I thought I drove economically but clearly not! My 56mpg was mainly but not exclusively motorway / A roads. Might start experimenting with some different fuels...

Maintenance Questions +
The car will tell you when it needs a service. Get the air con done when it's no longer cold. £139 for something that doesn't need doing is typical dealer behaviour. Pretty sure my MkIII Octavia never had an aircon service in 10 years.

Can't establish 'Primary User'
There's a suggestion that the 1941 SW resolves this issue. Do you know if this is the update they did?
-
TSi fuel economy
I was wondering the same thing, I leave mine in Normal mode as I assume the difference at motorway speeds is negligible / nothing. Always assumed Eco mode was to try and be more economical around town.

The infotainment system may be crap but I can't fault the engine! Disappointed my mpg dropped below 56 due to rubbish commute home this evening.

Adaptive cruise control woes.
ACC is the best thing about the car (except for the overtaking undertaking glitch). All you need is a good understanding of what is a safe distance to the car in front or better anticipation of the road ahead so you can drive in the appropriate lane. All things a good driver should be able to do ACC or no ACC.

Service schedule 1.5tsi
I bought my 21 plate1.5tsi in Sept 2022 with only 7000 miles on the clock. Car told me it needed a service in December 22 with 11000 miles on the clock. I'm approaching 20000 miles now and the car is telling me it needs a service in 1100 miles. This seems a bit excessive! I'm doing quite a few miles (maybe 16000 a year based on current rate, mainly A roads and motorways). I'm thinking I need to switch to variable servicing as at the current rate I'll be having 2 services a year. Thoughts? I checked the oil this morning and it was halfway down the hatched area on the dipstick so I've put in 0.5 a litre. Thinking I'll get this service at 20,000 miles and ask about being put onto variable.

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
Interesting to see the 'can't set master user' fault listed as I have this also. Service due in 1100 miles and 6 months left on the warranty so definitely time to get it sorted!

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
Reading this thread with interest. Having bought my 21 plate SE L in September last year I was initially very smug that the car didn't appear to suffer from the usual niggles. However, in the last few months I've experienced the frequent (daily) reboots of the system, including FOUR reboots in 5 minutes last night. I've also noticed that the reboot seems to result in the ACC undertaking/overtaking bug which I hadn't experienced in the previous 9 months of owning the car. I'm going to pursue the 1941 update under warranty (anyone experience of the Coventry dealership?) but has anyone else experienced the ACC issue and know if the 1941 update resolves it? I do a LOT of motorway driving and the ACC is a really important feature for me. Thanks

Volume buttons backlit?
Are the volume + / - buttons supposed to be backlit? Mine aren't but the power button for the infotainment system is?

Rear bumper trim replacement
Drove over something (big chunk of metal) the other day and it has smashed and ripped off the rear bumper trim and has cracked the bumper at the same time 🙄. Any thoughts on ball park quote to get this fixed? I'm assuming the trim is fairly cheap and the crack in the bumper can be repaired, plus the labour. Thought I'd got away with when I saw other cars with punctures but not when I got home and saw this!

Washer jets slow to respond
Has it just started happening (since the cold weather) or has it always been like this? I think there has always been a delay on mine, I've just added it to the list of things that don't work as well on the MkIV as they did on my MkIII. I have a similar problem with my screenwash, since the cold weather the water just dribbles out of both the front and rear washers. It's been over 10 degrees for more than 24 hours now so I'm assuming it's not frozen and I can hear the pump working. I suspect the cold weather has damaged the pump or caused a leak somewhere. This never happened in the 8 years I owned my MkIII. The headlight washers, which aren't really necessary, make a mess of the car and use loads of screenwash are working fine, obviously.

Replace key battery warning
Just had the pleasure of this ridiculous problem in my car. I was getting the 'replace key battery' message a few weeks ago so swapped it out for a new Duracell. All fine until we drove to a Christmas event this afternoon (temperature of 1 degree), after parking up the car wouldn't lock and the dash was saying 'no key detected', I hadn't received any warnings prior to this so the new battery has lasted a few weeks. Cue much faffing with accessing the barrel lock and figuring out how to start the car with a dead key battery (the answer is to put the key in the cup holder(!), how does this work? presumably the key has some sort of backup that can be detected at very close range?!). Upon returning home found we had no spare batteries so I have removed the battery and done the trick of warming it between my hands and blowing on it(!), hey presto the battery has come back to life (for now). So it looks like as well as being fussy about the type of battery (I understand Panasonic is preferred) they also don't like the cold. What a ridiculous situation, I replaced the battery maybe 3 times in 8 years in our MkIII. All this for keyless entry (that I don' want) and keyless ignition (that I also don't want). Why do car manufacturers insist on fixing problems that don't exist with badly implemented solutions?

Rear wiper settings weirdness
It's not that intelligent, basically if the front wipers are on at a certain speed it will automatically turn on the intermittent rear wipe. It's reasonably useful (although I'm quite capable of turning it on myself!). It's also useful to be able to disable it if you have a bumper mounted bike carrier which usually interact with the rear screen too.
-
Rear wiper settings weirdness
Yeah, I understand having the option available, the fix I was referring to was having one setting that doesn't appear to do anything and two options (wipe in reverse and auto wipe) controlled by the one setting.
-
Rear wiper settings weirdness
Rear wiper is making a right scrawping noise (should probably replace it tbf) but decided to disable the auto rear wiper in the meantime. Be aware, the 'wipe automatically in the rain' setting doesn't appear to do anything (although it's unclear whether this refers to the front or rear wiper'). To disable the auto rear wipe I had to disable the 'Rear window wiping in reverse gear' option, which appears to have disabled both auto rear wiping and wiping in reverse gear. Personally I never found turning the rear wiper on manually a particular chore so no idea why this is an option. I'm sure it will be fixed in an update. TSi Manual Estate, SW version 1896.

Auto Hold stopped working
Received one message saying 'Auto Hold not available' or similar and now it doesn't work. No warning lights or further messages in the menu. TSi manual. Anyone had this before? Best get it booked into the dealer I suppose 😕

Can't 'become primary user' in Skoda Connect
Finally getting around to setting up Skoda Connect.... I have created an account linked to the car by the VIN. I've logged into my account in the car so it recognises me, however when I try to 'become primary user' I just get a 'Please Wait' message. I've given it about 10 minutes but nothing. At this point you're supposed to be able to register the keys so you can set personal options. Any ideas? A further question... My wife and I share the car, will she have to create her own Skoda Connect account, how / where do we set who's key is who's? At the moment the car recognises me regardless of which key I use. Worried I am now officially too old and stupid to use my car, I might need to delegate to one of my teenagers!
