  1. As I said, to be honest, it doesn't bother me as I have never noticed it before. I normally use postcodes and have never had a problem with finding my destination, either with the postcode or name of the place i want to go to.
  2. Never noticed it before, but no I don't have all the village names showing, I am using the full Europe map, think the card is 32gb as the download is 16.1gb which wouldn't fit on a 16gb card. To be honest, it has never caused a problem as I normally use postcodes to find my destination.
  3. For the speed cams you need to add them through POI's in the Sat Nav menu, adding them as "my POI's". TBH though they tend to be a little bit out of date and due to the nature of the way POI's work it will ping when there is a camera on the opposite side of the road and cameras on a road very close to the one you are driving on.
  4. This is not a firmware update. It is adding Camera sites as POI's to the Navigation database, so you need to have the Navigation SD card in one slot, otherwise the Sat Nav doesn't work and then put the downloaded POI database on another SD card and load it via the other SD card slot. I had tried switching the Navigation SD to slot 2 and the database for the Camera POI's in slot 1 that didn't work either.
  5. I tried quite a few different ways but non seemed to work. So I went back to copying the full extracted file onto the card, put it in the slot and the software update message came up, clicked the update button and it started searching, took the card out of the slot and put it back in whilst it was still showing searching and it seemed to find the update and load it. I had tried this before and it didn't load so I am not sure why it did this time! Sorry, I don't have a definite reason why it did or didn't load, all I can suggest is keep trying and hope like mine it will find the update.
  6. Hi, I am having a problem updating when I put the card in the SD slot it seems to read it OK as it says Software update is available. But when I try to update it searches, then gives me following Error : no data available. Please insert a source with software update or check the source I have extracted the files and copied the PersonalPOI folder, I note that there are subfolders MIB2HIGH and MIB2STD and both of these have personalpoi folders, so I tried copying the contents of these in to a personal poi folder and still get the same messages. What I am I doing wrong? Could it be because I am using the latest VW map update 2010? I deleted the previous my personal poi on the system, these were the previous updates you posted.
  7. Just checked mine and it is back up and running as well
  8. Looks like mine is not working, I have TP showing but the TMC has a diagonal red line through it.
  9. Have you got the Dynamic route switched on? From the manual ›In the main menu of the navigation mode, press  → Route options → Dynamic route . When the Dynamic route » page 34 function is switched on, the traffic reports influence the dynamic route guidance by means of TMC messages. Dynamic route switched on Information on traffic problems received via TMC which affect the route are displayed in the map by means of a coloured symbol (e.g., , , , etc.). Traffic problems, which do not affect the route, are displayed in the map by means of a grey symbol. The direction in which a traffic problem is found, is displayed by means of an arrow in the symbol. Dynamic route switched off You are not alerted to received traffic disruptions along your route and are guided through the traffic disruption by the radio navigation system. The traffic reports are updated automatically in the unit and displayed by pressing the button TRAFFIC . If one of the announced traffic disruptions lies along your route, you can also switch on the dynamic route guidance during the current route guidance or block the route manually » page 46. Note Making a diversion from a traffic jam based on TMC traffic reports may not always offer a time advantage, e.g. if the diversion route is also congested.
  10. is your car a brand new car (MKIV) or a MK111?
  11. Hi Tico Apologies, I meant if it was a Columbus or Amundsen model. If it is Columbus just download the pdf in the link. I have the Amundsen infotainment unit and needed the manual as nothing came with the car so if you have the Amundsen unit just google Octavia Amundsen manual.
  12. try here A7_Octavia_Columbus_InfotainmentNavigation.pdf (skoda-auto.com) if not this one just google the model yoou have,
