  • Generally the VW are better links... Skoda often messes up the zip process, whilst Seat have a siesta.

  • I expect @MartiniB will post the complete list of links when he's got some spare time but meanwhile here's the link for the new full Europe map: https://navigation-maps.volkswagen.com/vw-maps/Discove

Hello!

I have problem with the archive STD2_2310_EU-DL4_202448.zip from Skoda portal.

It says  "Unexpected end of archive". Does anyone have the same problem?

And can I use files from another source as these from Skoda portal?

Screenshot 2024-11-30 082949.png

I've downloaded the AS version, unzipped it and put it onto a genuine 32GB SD card - worked with no problem.

Are there really not any newer update to the NAVs maps? These files, although published very recently, seems to be last touched in October 2023. Is there any more recent update around the corner, or can i do anything else to update the NAV with more recent maps?

I ask specifically because there is roads it simply can't currently find because they are too new.

I'm afraid not - the inbuilt nav can only use releases from VAG. They are currently updated every ~6 months but as you can see, the actual map data is normally ~1 year older.

I believe there is an online portal to request updates to the maps but it'll probably have an 18 month lead time between your request and finally making it to a release.

I would suggest connecting your phone and using Android Auto or Apple CarPlay as 'connected' nav apps such as Waze or Google maps tend to be much more up to date :)

The last time I submitted an error report for the maps it took 3 years for the corrections to appear in them 🤯

Agreed. Plus there is live traffic info, which Skoda et al no longer provide.

Waze is useful in that users regularly report stationary vehicles in Lane 1 of so-called smart motorways which have no hard hard shoulder.

@Tell and @BionicJohn

is there any way to get waze or google maps or similar to show up in the drivers info screen? That is what i like about the buildin NAV, i.e. it is not only shown on the infotainment.

Not on this generation 😞

That's the problem people have with turning their back on inbuilt systems. Head up display is now coming to the next generation least on Cupra but ofcourse using the built in system. Regeneration is aided by the inbuilt maps where you have regeneration. Vag needs to work to get the built in systems more aligned with standard navigation GPS systems rather than just making do.

Not sure whether mib4 has the same limitations on stored destination as mib3 which is somewhat limited to mib2.

Is anyone having any luck downloading 2025 maps for the Amundsent at the moment?  If I try the link for ECE 1 2025  https://infotainment-cdn.skoda-auto.com/base/maps/STD2_2310_EU1_202448.zip (or any of the other 2025 maps on the Skoda portal) I get the error below.  It's the same if I use the portal URL with the VIN number of my wife's Octavia, eg
https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/en-US/Updates/TMBBG7xxxxxxxx .

I've updated the maps several times this way in the past without any diffuculty (there is no other way to do it with the OCtavia's SD card, as far as I know).  Oddly, the link for the VW maps does work - can I use the VW maps or will the Amundsen unit in the Octavia refuse to play with VW maps?

Any help is very much appreciated.

See the first post in this thread.

Thanks BionicJohn!  Almost literally the first words in the thread and I missed it 🤦‍♀️ I'm downloading the VW maps now.
Is this a temporary error with the Skoda website, perhaps, or are Skoda giving users of older systems the heave-ho?  I contacted Skoda about it yesterday and they more-or-less replied that my wife's car is an older model (Octavia Mk III) and they're not really interested in providing any assistance. Disappointing.

I have a 2016 Octavia and gave up on the local dealers because they were expensive and generally, as you say, not very helpful despite free bacon butties.  I use a local independent who are great.   (New tyres, brakes and suspension bushes next week. £££? )

However the maps at the Update Portal should be fine, not least because they not the latest, despite what they say!

Must be another supplier.

That's April 2023 in a Mib2 standard. Old post when it went on TMC. Need the workarounds on the thread to get Inrix.

You will since 2023 means it's mib3. These are via connected services 4g. TMC is different. Not sure why these posts are on this thread since it's a mib2 navigation thread.

Thanks for that It has confirmed 2 things

1 That it is MIB3. It doesn't seem to say anywhere. Updating maps is pure guesswork, as the instructions I found were on about an SD card slot I don't have! I eventually found MIB3 instructions
2 that it is 4G When I renewed my Škoda App/connect subscription when I got the car It went on about G3 stopping and over the air not being available from mid 25 which annoyed me.  However, as the phasing out of G3 has been known about for many years I assumed (silly of me I know) that on a 2023mfr car Škoda would have had a G4 unit in it. Which it does appear to have.

Does it mean that MIB2 does not have live traffic information via connected services?

I got recently a octavia III with colombus and I was testing the connected services in trial mode, I get the car status and analytics in the apps so the car connect to the service but not the live traffic info (I get TMC but since I cross borders often between FR/DE/BE/LU it is ****ty).
I thought it could be related to the outdated map system so I plan to update it today with the VW link in the top post.

can anyone confirm if only MIB3 get the internet traffic update because MIB2 would be "outdated"?
