How are you finding the Volvo? I wanted one of those rather than my VRS but my company took it off of the car list.

I presume you’re joking when you say this. Or do we have to tell them when we turn off the parking assist and stop / start too?

The first thing I do when I get in my car is turn this and lane assist off. It’s like cars are being designed and built for morons these days, let ME drive my car, not the other way round.

Ah for the days of a good old manual handbrake and gearbox eh. Bloody cars these day are too complicated for their own good and this just highlights that, a whole thread about how to put the handbrake on😂

Got my car last week, it’s 1900. It crashed on day two so it’s already going into the dealer for an update (I’m aware I can do this myself but I want to register the fact it’s f*cked up already. Plus it has scratches on the boot lid🤦🏻‍♂️)

I hope so mate, it does seem like things are starting to move now so fingers crossed for you. The dealer cocked up again, they’d not booked the delivery slot despite telling me it was coming today. I had to phone them four times today to find out what was going on. The guy who delivered it told me he was on his way home when they called him and begged him to turn round, collect my car and deliver. Skoda, absolutely bloody useless from start to finish.

Almost two years after ordering, it’s finally here

My saga is coming to an end, just had a call from the dealer to say my car will be delivered Friday 21st July. Ordered Sept 2021. I bet I hate it now😂

I feel your pain buddy, it’s so frustrating isn’t it. Not sure if this is the address you’ve used already but I contacted Skoda customer services and basically went off on one about the complete lack of reliable information. Since then they’ve been able to tell me the build date, and I’ve stayed on their case weekly up to the point I’m at now where apparently the car is on its way. I’ve tried to post their E mail address in this post and it’s blanking it out so let me know if you want me to PM it to you?

Yep, VRS iV Estate with no extras. Ordered Sept 2021. Company car so ordered via a lease company, probably a coincidence but ever since I cut them out of the loop and went direct to Skoda things seem to have moved quicker.

Confirmation from Skoda that my car is on a ship heading to the UK. Not sure how long it’ll take once it hits the UK, but assuming a week or two then it’ll be just shy of 20 months since I ordered it.

Depends on what you’ve ordered. Definitely seems to be the case that the hybrids are having the longest waiting times. I ordered mine in Sept 21 and have only just been told it’s waiting to ship. Apparently they only started making it w/c 28th May😂 Of course the big issue is that you can’t seem to trust a word that Skoda say, a lot of the time it just appears to be pot luck. All I would say is that you should go directly to Skoda and kick up as much fuss on as many channels as you can, at least then they seem to engage with you a bit.

Seems things are starting to move now, apparently my car is built and awaiting shipping to the UK. I’m well aware that it may still take some time for this to happen, but at least they’ve built the ****ing thing now! (Octavia VRS IV Estate ordered Sept 2021).

Well, Skoda customer service E mailed me while i was away last week to say I have a confirmed build date of week commencing 28/05/23. I’ll take it with a large pinch of salt, but let’s see what happens. Any ideas how long it takes to build an Octavia VRS iV Estate anyone? I know it’s Skoda so it could be anywhere from 3 months to never, but any guesses?!

Re the above few posts, I am in a similar position. VRS iV Estate ordered Sept 21, current eta via my work lease company is Sept 23. I gave up speaking to the lease company as I may as well have been talking to my kettle for all the use they were. Tried the dealer who were also absolutely useless and seemed to not give a toss. Complained to Skoda UK, who initially fobbed me off with a generic “congratulations on the purchase of your new car” e mail. I have persevered and am now at least being told my car has an assigned build week of end of May. That’ll probably change but at least I’m getting some sort of useful info. I would have cancelled my order ages ago but the list of alternatives is tiny now and prices have gone up so much that I’m sticking to my guns to hopefully get the car I wanted at the price that suited me.

I won’t bother emailing them myself then as it sounds like the answer will be the same as the one you received. Essentially then we just have to sit and wait with absolutely zero reliable information at all. As I said earlier I am trying to keep this in perspective, it is just a car and there are people in the world struggling with far greater problems than this. That said though, I absolutely cannot believe how badly Skoda have handled all of this. The very least they should be doing is contacting everyone who has placed an order with an explanation and an apology. We all make mistakes, things happen that are out of our control, but the least you should do is have the balls to front it up and apologise.

Interesting post, thanks for this. I’ve had absolutely f*ck all information from my lease company and from contacting the dealer direct. I’d cancel my order but as it’s a company car my hands are kind of tied (plus the list of alternatives is rubbish and prices have gone up). So I am now going to write a strongly worded E mail of disgust to Skoda UK and see where that gets me (obviously I know it’ll get me nowhere at all but it’ll make me feel slightly better….maybe😄)
