Your reply shows my comment applies. I would only say something on a forum that I would be comfortable to say to someone, face to face. Perhaps this forum is not the place for you.

Unfortunately it's one of the downsides of forums like this one. There are those on here and elsewhere that have the empathy of infants. I would agree with your view that the removal of the button would need remedial work that would be worse.
  3. If lane assist was only activated by white lines, I would agree that it is safe to use. Unfortunately I find that it is activated by anything resembling a line, straight or curved and it's unreliable when it's wet. At the least, it should be able to be moderated by the driver if not switched off by default.

This is getting silly. Yes, I know some accept it is dangerous. I was responding to a reply that inferred that all I had to do to stop it being dangerous was to use the indicator. I do know that using the indicator cancels out the lane guidance. There should be a choice in the menu to have the default setting as 'off'.

It shouldn't pick up odd lines on the road surface. That's dangerous.

The lane assist in my car picks up joins in the tarmac which is a bit unsettling. Joining the M53 at junction 12 is particularly bad as the join runs diagonally from right to left telling me that I need to go onto the hard shoulder. I try to cancel it each time I start the car but sometimes forget.
  7. I thought it was the mobile phone that was the restriction for WiFi connection to CarPlay/AA. I had an Honor 8X phone when I bought the Kamiq. That could only connect via cable. My current phone is a Samsung A52S and that connects via WiFi to the car using Android Auto. I have found out by chance that my phone needs to be directly under the Amundsen unit to ensure a steady connection. Any farther away and it disconnects then reconnects at random.
  8. I remember years ago, before alloys became widely available, spray painting the steel wheels on my cars. Wash the wheels, take them off the car. Mask the tyres, spray the new paint which was usually some shade of silver. Wait a short while then put the wheel back on. Repeat above. It was much cheaper than buying new steel wheel trims. I had a Morris Marina coupe 1.8 with wide steel wheels which looked a bit like the wheels on the green car above. I fitted telescopic shock absorbers but it was still lousy on corners.
  9. I chose the cheapest option I could get from a local dealer which compared favourably with anyone else. The two things I specified were the choice of tyres and black alloys. I wasn't bothered about style of alloy, more about comfort.
  10. I've attached a photo of my Kamiq with the 16 inch alloys. I chose black as they don't look as dirty as quickly as silver alloys.
  11. Update to this topic; I have started putting my mobile in the tray in front of the gear selector and right under the heater/aircon controls. During the last few journeys in the car, Android Auto has been solid with no disconnections at all. I used to just leave my phone in my pocket and didin't think that would be an issue as the distance from my pocket to the Amundsden unit when I am driving is not exactly huge but apparently it seems to have made a huge difference to connectivity. Hopefully this will be permanent.
  12. Reading my above post I have missed out the size of my new wheels. They are 16 inch with 205/60/16 tyres. The ride quality has increased from the 17 inch wheels

Sounds like you are using a suction mount. Try a 3m adhesive mount. It won't fall off with one of those.
  14. I bought one of these last year. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/333906217362 Good fit and softer than the usual plastic liners. It's waterproof and easy cleaned. The softer material tends to stop stuff sliding about.
  15. I forgot to say that the wheels are from my 2021 Kamiq.
  16. I have for sale 4 x Braga 17 inch alloys with Michelin Primacy 4 205.55.R17. They are in excellent, unmarked condtion and have done only 5000 miles from new. They come with the bolts, 4 locking with key, and plastic caps. They are balanced and ready to fit. £800.00, collect only from Chester.
  17. I have noticed a big improvement in tyre noise and comfort with 32 psi pressures all round. I've dropped them to 32 psi this morning to try for a few weeks. I chose black alloys as i hoped they wouldn't need cleaning as often as the Braga alloys.
  18. I have changed the wheels and tyres to black gloss Dezent TR alloys with Crossclimate 2 tyres. They were inflated to 36 psi by the fitter. I've dropped that to 32 psi and will see how that goes over the coming months. Now I have to decide whether to sell or keep the 17" Braga alloys and tyres and use them during the summer (3 months) to prolong the life of the Crossclimates.
  19. What make/model phone do you use?
  20. It would be helpful if you could spec smaller rims when ordering a new car.
  21. Yes. Tyre height is 97mm - 18 inch wheel, 112mm - 17 inch wheel, 122mm - 16 inch wheel with circumferences of 2042mm, 2065mm and 2050 with tyres specified as 215/45/18, 205/55/17 and 205/60/16.
  22. I changed from the standard 18 inch alloys to 17 inch in my Kamiq SEL and there was a marked improvement in ride quality and noise reduction. I am currently in the process of having 16 inch alloys fitted, Dezent TR in black gloss, with Michelin Cross Climate 2 tyres. I'll report back when they are on the car.
  23. Following the updated software, there is no change. AA still disconnects and reconnects at random. I am going to start using a cable to see if that's any better. Any opinions on Apple Car Play?
  24. Went from two cars to one last year and following extensive google searches I narrowed the choice to Citroen C4,Ford Puma, Kia Niro and Skoda Kamiq. After many test drives chose the Skoda Kamiq. I was given two cars the test drive at Mitchells; 1.0 SE dsg and a 1.5 SEL manual. I didn’t buy from them but travelled to east Yorkshire. Mitchells were aware I wasn’t buying from them but their service was excellent. They fitted a reversing camera for me which was flawless. Took it in again to look at an annoying rattle when I was informed that Skoda only cover rattles etc for the first 6 months on the new car warranty. They found the rattle was caused by a panel under the car that hadn’t been tightened properly when I had a tow bar fitted (not by Mitchells). I was told beforehand that they would give me 1 hour labour free and would contact me before any chargeable work was done. No charge for fixing the rattle. They updated the Amundsen software, washed the car and painted the tyres. All in all my experience of the staff at Mitchells has been very good. They bought one of my cars from me and gave me a better price than anyone else in this area. I highly recommend Michells.
  25. When changing to winter wheels. what do you do with TPM?
