  1. So after 3 long years my '71 Octavia Se Tech PHEV has finally been collected and taken off to the great auction house in the sky, if anyone is stupid enough to buy it. Without doubt the worst car I've ever had and I owned an Austin Montego! Apart from the ridiculous long wait for CarPlay to load, fiddly touch screen, lane hindrance system and a collision detection system that doesn't work in the rain, the following is too many things for any person's sanity: Intermittent Infotainment errors, freezes, unexplained restarts Intermittent ‘Engine needs to run longer’ message Intermittent Fuel & battery gauges flash Intermittent Driver window goes down when button pressed for up 42'000 Gear selector error on dash, gear selector replaced 49'000 Emissions light on dash, new sensor 49'000 Rear tyres heavily stepped 49'000 Boot rattle, new wedges 58'000 Aircon ceases to blow cold 58'000 All HV coolant leaks out, car recovered. New heat exchanger fitted So for me the only thing Surprising about Skoda is why anybody gets a another one. Although, there is an umbrella in the door :)
  2. Sounds very Skoda. My 71 plate is due for changing but had loads of problems. Thought, briefly, about a new Kodiaq but these have had similar problems to yours, even the Top Gear Magazine long term test car. Agree with that most of the assistance systems don’t work with a bit of mist and cold but are great on a bright sunny day. Ironically.
  3. Have had loads of issues with mine including the car having to be towed back to a dealer. Less than 3 years old and under 65k miles. I’ve said before Skoda are the British Leyland of our time. So much so rather than save a considerable amount of BiK with a new Kodiaq I’m going to replace at the end of contract with a Toyota. Can’t wait.
  4. Not sure. Think it was a new leaver, not sure if anything else. I did see a post where someone had this done and there was resulting damage to the centre console, which the dealer denied was their fault. I took some pics of mine before the work just in case
  5. Add to the list coolant leak on HV/aircon and the car having to be recovered as not repairable roadside, not apparently an uncommon fault with VW plug in hybrids. As I said before British Leyland of our time
  6. Definitely. 30 months old with 60k miles and so far (apart from badly stone chipped paint) Gear selector failure Emissions sensor failure Flaky infotainment system for first 18 months Unstable app for a year (then want £100 to renew) Window that goes down when you press up Heat exchange failure on aircon (in the hot summer) Badly stepped rear tyres after 45k (loads of tread left) 6-8 week lead time to get it into my local dealer for a service or repair But, it does have an umbrella in the door and an ice scrapper in the fuel cap
  7. I had more stone chips on the front of my Skoda after 3k miles than after 73k miles in my previous Hyundai, same journeys and driving style. As others have said you get what you pay for and in my opinion these are not quality cars. In fact after driving a Skoda for 2 and half years I've come to the conclusion that they are the British Leyland of our time, some nice ideas but poor build quality and reliability, I doubt I'll get another.
  8. Mine never got anywhere near 70k before developing this fault. Had it done under warranty but apparently a 4 hour job. My local dealer has a long lead time and they were happy for me to drive around with the fault for about 5 weeks I think. Probably did a 2k in that time.
  9. Don't really know for sure about if the ports are switched live. All I can tell you is when you turn the car on the LED on the charger goes red, if you charge a phone it goes blue and when you turn the car off the LED goes out. Best carry a fire extinguisher just in case 🙂
  10. Not that I've noticed. My phone does get warm but the battery is not good, which is the reason I got the charger.
  11. I ordered one of these from Amazon, fits a treat although I don't get loads of charge but enough to keep my phone topped up, it did work well from a wall socket so could be the car USB hasn't that much power. I went for the 30cm cable option. Wireless Car Charger Pad, REESTECQI 15W Car Wireless Charger Pad Non Slip Wireless Charging Pad
  12. For me it's a total waste of money (especially considering the cost of the car) and another example of getting more money out of existing customers which is very Skoda, the Toyota app comes free for 3 or 4 years. Most updates to the infotainment system lately have been shop updates, again you can see what Skoda are concerned most about.
  13. Had this on and off for a while then became constant. Had it done under warranty but apparently it is a 4 hour job so costly if you are paying. The dealer told me it was fine to continue driving and I did for about 4 weeks before it was fixed (earliest dealer could get car in which sums up my local dealer).
