Doug's 2018 Sportline 272 hatch
I've never had a white car before, but loving the contrast of white with black spec. Bought a few bits for it so far: -LED white boot lights -Genuine mats (didnt come with any, what kind of psychopath drives a car without mats! 😆) -Rubber cover for key -4 genuine wheel bolts and 4 covers (removal of locking wheel nuts) Planned: -Wireless AA/Carplay adaptor -Bumper guard -Black Superb badge -Touch up paint -Plain number plates -Golf R rear ARB (slightly stiffer) -A pedal box, looking at DTUK but open to opinions.

How to Guide - Superb 3 OEM Intake Mod
I didnt faff with the radar, bonnet release was more so it could easily lift up but wasn't absolutely necessary. I think it makes a small difference, feels a little perkier but could be in my head!

Doug's 2018 Sportline 272 hatch
Quickly found out it had a dent in the rear passenger door which wasnt obvious in the photos/video they sent 😞 A phone call to Station Garage and they have told me to get some quotes for paintless dent removal. Its not a guarantee but its positive that they will do the right thing.

Doug's 2018 Sportline 272 hatch
Hey all, I've been using the forum for a few years with my previous MK3 Octavia VRS with a few choice upgrades. I have recently moved on to a 2018 Superb Sportline 272 hatch in Moon White Metallic. I bought it from Station Garage in Horsham and Mark there has been very helpful. Its low miles for the age (43,500) and they gave it a major service, Haldex service and changed the centre caps as the originals had corroded. Its well specced (although not sure what is optional extras 🙂) Winter pack with heated steering wheel DCC Radar guided cruise Sunroof Electric memory drivers seat Folding wingmirrors KESSY 3 keys Probably more Ive missed! Loving the comfort and space. Its a lovely place to travel in.

How to Guide - Superb 3 OEM Intake Mod
Not to resurrect an old thread but did this today. I found a brand new Stanley blade worked to cut out the plastic piece out completely. I didn't want plastic bits falling down in front of the air con condenser and it made sense to open it up completely like the other side. I did it without even removing the grill, just squeezed a flexy lead with a T25 bit on between the slam panel and the black plastic upper, bit of a sod but worked. The central bolt was a **** but I didnt want to remove the radar as I know its very sensitive to calibration. Removing the bonnet handle is very easy, pop a little clip out of the back and it just lifts off. I had done this basic mod on my mk3 Octavia VRS with zero issues in 2 years. On the Superb, there is even more of a rise up and over for airflow into the airbox so doubt there would be any issue short of submerging the car through a flood or river. Ive only cut out the central part of the upper intake, I have each side to do still and remove the snow grate.

Stock RARB vs Golf R RARB...
This was the worry, that the difference isnt enough. My VRS difference was 18mm to 21.7mm so was a significant difference. Unfortunately whilst its under warranty fitting something non OEM is likely to draw attention to itself. Similar but not the same bar. The Golf R bar has a slightly thicker bar thickness, but theres not alot in it.

Stock RARB vs Golf R RARB...
The Golf R is AWD with a Haldex like the Superb. Id even go as far as saying its probably the same setup but the Superb is slightly detuned so not worried about it fitting. Just not sure the difference is enough to make a noticeable difference.

Stock RARB vs Golf R RARB...
Hi all, Relatively new owner to Superb life and enjoying it. One mod I completed on my MK3 VRS was swapping rear anti roll bars, just the change from stock to a MK7 Golf GTi Clubsport bar worked wonders. I'm keen to use OE parts if I can. On that guise, the stock Superb Sportline RARB seems to be 21.7 x 3mm. A very cheap option appears to be a Golf R RARB, 21.7 x 3.6mm. Has anyone made this jump and can advise if its worth it?

DCC Slider adjustment option mod
Chucking my hat into the ring, another for the UK. I do have a local retrofits place near near me, tempted to have a chat.

Thanks! The DCC is fab, I cant imagine using 'comfort' much as 'normal' is pretty soft, but 'sport' is pretty controlled. I havent driven it in anger yet but after upgrading the rear anti roll bar in my VRS and it making a significant difference I'd be tempted if there was an OEM upgrade. I am guessing a Golf R bar is probably an upgrade?

As you can see... I've already bought it. But thanks for the part numbers, I am keen to use something recommended. I am going to see if my local dealer has any recalls/fixes. I have seen a fix on here which involved unclipping the roof lining at the back of the sunroof but Im not so keen on this as a solution.

The nrw Superb has arrived! Very happy but unsure if the creaking sunroof is common and if there is any updates or fixes?

So what did I buy? As a list of priorities I considered: -Space, either a decent hatch or estate -Nice interior with Android Auto and other toys -Minimum 250bhp petrol -Handle reasonably well in stock form -Reasonable costs to run and service -Low mileage (40k max) -Budget around £20k I considered all sorts, on my list was: BMW 330i F series estates Audi A4 Avants Jaguar XE R-Sport P250 Mercedes C300 estate Mercedes C43 AMG estate The car had to be either a hatch or estate, so the Jaguar was out unfortunately. It had to be interesting and relatively rare (to me) so that was the Audi out. I wanted low mileage (under 40k is possible) so the BMW was out as I couldnt find anything near this and the G series was just too pricey. It had to handle well too, which removed the C300 from the equation. Every review said it goes well in a straight line but not around corners. The C43 was left, but finding a non modified, low mileage example in estate format for under £20k was impossible. Back to the drawing board. I was browsing Autotrader and saw it! After some maths and reading reviews, I knew I'd found my next car... Late 2018 Skoda Superb Sportline. Moon White metallic, 272bhp, AWD Haldex based system, heated front seats, sunroof and DCC suspension. It came from a Skoda dealer and was up for £22k. After some conversation they gave it a full service, Haldex service and some new centre caps.

So, I had started considering other cars. The VRS was great, handled very well and wasnt slow but I'm nearing 40 and the prospect of either paying for rear subframe work or doing it myself was niggling. To top it off, I found a few small bubbles of what would soon be rust that hadn't broken out, which I knew would need addressing to stop them being a future problem. Likewise, priorities have changed since I first bought the car, with a toddler, dog, house to run and busy full time job I just find myself not interested as much in the car as a 'project'. Could I leave it as it is? Certainly, but before the value falls out of it I decided to move it on. It went to Alpine Cars who offered a very tidy £8k for it minus some of its modifications, this was over £1k more than trade and £900 more than somewhere like Carwow, who'd probably only knock me down to less. It'll have some work done I'd imagine and be back out for someone else to enjoy. I gave it a last clean yesterday before it was collected today, it still looks great and comes up spanking! The new car was waiting in the background however...

Making a few improvements to my Superb III
Interested in see how easy it was fitting the dashcam, I have a Garmin 56w (I think) with hardwire kit I've just removed from my Octavia VRS. This was fitted by a independent coder but seems to have positive, switch and negative. I am guessing the fuse box is behind the glovebox as per the Octavia?

Soft brake pedal...
I did mention it to them and queried the VCDS procedure. They said they can, but they tend to find a good bleed sorts it. I picked it up in a rush and didn't chat too much unfortunately.

New owner of Super Sportline, previous owner on here?
Hi all, I've just put a deposit on a Moon White 18 plate Sportline 280bhp Hatchback, the last 3 of the reg are MZW, just wondering if they are on here? I'm buying it through a Skoda dealer in Horsham. The car looks standard bar black and white Skoda emblems and removal of any rear model badges. Buying it to replace my 2015 Octavia VRS estate. Excited to have something a bit more refined with a touch more power. It's going through PCP so modifications will be few and minor but looking forward to a good clean and seal, hopefully before the winter.

Soft brake pedal...
All, Independent garage has bled and gone through the brakes, far better than it was. Thanks again.

Soft brake pedal...
It sounds like the same. Even with worn brake pads and knackered discs my brakes felt more solid and positive than they do now. Its worth getting it looked at, a half decent independent specialist garage should be able to sort it.
-
Soft brake pedal...
Brilliant, Ill ask around and see if there is someone who has it.
-
Soft brake pedal...
Thanks Aubrey, thats reassuring to know! Ill chat to the independent garage and hope they can get it sorted. Was the VCDS procedure easy to follow? If I had access to it Id do it myself.

Soft brake pedal...
Thanks Rodders, I have tried bleeding it and its not changed. I tried using someone else pressing the brake pedal and opening and closing the bleed nipples. This hasnt improved it. Im starting to think I just gaslighted myself into thinking it was different but its booked into an independent garage an hour away.

Soft brake pedal...
Hey all, Im having a problem with my brakes on my 2015 VRS TSI DSG estate. Timeline: In March I changed the front brake pads and discs for ATE discs and TRW pads. Brakes felt great, brake pedal was firm and pedal travel minimal. In April I had a local Skoda dealership change my brake fluid as I didnt know how old it was. Brakes immediately felt soft and spongy and pedal travel was definitely longer. I mentioned it and they checked it again but said the pedal felt normal. June I changed the rear disc and pads to ATE discs and TRW pads. Bled the brakes using a pressure bleeder but still felt rubbish. In July took it back to Skoda who offered a free brake check, said it was fine. I spoke to the mechanic and mentioned the difference in pedal feel, he had no answers and just said it felt normal. Unfortunately I dont have as much faith in driving the car harder now. The brakes function but they dont instil confidence. I've not had to top up any fluid and theres no leaks so I am thinking this is purely a bleed thing. I have read through some sources that if VCDS isnt used to bleed the ABS pump air will get trapped in the system, is this likely what has happened? Unfortunately there isnt a 'local' independent garage, although there's some VAG specialists an hour away I can use but I dont fancy spending out to be no better off without understanding the issue. Any advice is appreciated, Doug
