  1. Thanks for the replies, To Skoda2114 the sound mine made wasn't anywhere near like that!, strangely I started the car this morning, when the engine was cold and no noise at all! I'll keep an ear on it.
  2. Thanks for the reply, this morning when the engine was running it was cold, I did some running around in the afternoon and when the engine is at temperature the noise stops, I'm going to leave it for now and see if it develops. Do you think it could still be the flywheel?.
  3. Hi I was cleaning the brake calipers this morning, the engine was running and when I got to the front near side wheel I could hear a very slight rattle, I asked my partner to press the clutch pedal and when she did the noise went. you can only hear it when you are near the front wheel. My question is does the flywheel and clutch need doing immediately, it my have been doing it for weeks / months anyway. The car has only done 71 thousand miles I have never ridden the clutch, TBH it has really ruined my day!.
  4. Wow that's some journey you have been through!, please you have it running again.
  5. Hi Bearing in mind mine is a different engine to yours, you should be able to get to it from the wheel arch, you may have to remove a splash panel to get to the pully, and the wheel, that's what I did.
  6. Looks like it could be the oil seal on the crank shaft behind the bottom pully, mine was leaking not as bad as that but with similar effects.
  7. No there isn't a factory default code and don't try to guess the number as you may permanently lock out the head unit, I used to decode car stereos but I have retired now and don't have the equipment anymore. If I remember correctly the head unit came with it's own separate hand book the code may be in there.
  8. Here is a example, item number Ebay 304813076708
  9. Hi You will need the code, you may be able to do via the serial number, if you look on the internet via a big auction site you may get the code from there, quote the serial number pay a few quid and get the code.

  13. You could try some Autosol chrome cleaner or some scrunched up tin foil dipped in water, what I did with mine is changed it to a stainless steel tip and that has been on for three years now and only needed polishing a couple of times.
  14. If you don't have any knowledge of soldering at all please don't try to do it yourself removing surface mount components is very difficult, I was in the electronics trade for 30 years and still got it wrong occasionally.
  15. Although you have cut it open have you checked the circuit board very carefully, mine went faulty and I cut it open and it looked perfect to the naked eye, but with a magnifying glass I could see a small leak from the battery and it had damaged the pcb.
  16. Thank you for letting us know the solution, so many times people ask for help and never leave a message to say what the problem was.
  17. On the Android units there is usually a reset button have a look on the front for a small hole that may say something like "rst", if not try disconnecting the unit from the power source to reset it see if that works.
  18. I bought a cheap one from China it did not work even cut it open and it was nothing like the original, do your self a favor buy OEM like I ended up doing and save time and money.
  19. I think you are right the strange thing is I never saw it said it was with cars that was only stop start! oh well past a few hours on, and I bought the OBDeleven but it should come in handy one day. one day. Thanks for your help.
  20. No, the car does not have an extra connection on the battery negative pole, it's not stop start, so is it only cars with stop start that have the option of changing the battery details? Thanks.
  21. Hi I tried to change the adaptation with VCDS but it would not let me it said information wasn't available, so I tried OBDeleven and it was the same there, after spending a long time on the internet I think I know the reason, the car might not have a battery control module as it is NOT stop start could I be right? Thank you.
