  1. just bumping up this post to see if anyone knows what a geometry alignment process is? (read above) cheers
  2. Right, just had the service done today at AL Skoda in Liverpool, the service was cool, nice friendly people over there and efficient service as well as a full valet on the car before they handed it back, they checked out all the points as mentioned above and fixed as much as they could. Car is going to have to go back for the gear box problem as they require more time to look at it. The only thing they couldn't fix was the alignment of the steering as it is tapering badly to the left, they said it was not covered in the manufacturers warranty to get it 'geometrically aligned' (whatever that is) and that I would have to pay around 40 -70 quid to get it taken away somewhere to get it lasered diagnosed... Does anyone know what this is??
  3. Hi All, not been on here for a while hope everyone is well... Just reached the 10k mark on the fabia...taking it in next tues with a quote of £145 for servicing..does that sound about right? Few niggles with the car; - bit of a grinding noise on the rear brakes when the car nears stationary - when parking and i need to shift from 1st to reverse gear, it usually doesnt allow, I have to lift the clutch up slightly before it can shift... (anyone had this prob?) - the steering wheel at neutral rotation sits slightly anticlockwise and it takes the car dramatically left when ur driving and letting go of the wheel. other than that I think it should be ok
  4. Just a random one this, was in a colleagues car this morning car sharing to work and the day before he had topped up his engine oil and it wasnt until when we arrived at work this morning that he had realised that he hadnt screwed back his engine cap on... As a result, engine oil was everywhere under the bonnet and throughout the journey we could smell oil coming through the passenger air vents.. now what I need to know is... can engine oil vapourising through the vents in any way damage my health with around 40 mins of exposure and is this stuff flammable if contaminated with the rest of the engine parts?? I'm just a bit worried that's all as i'm sat here on my desk at work with an after taste of oil in the back of my throat.....
  5. Had mine since July 25th, done about 4800 on it so far...I guess my first service will be around xmas time. no probs with it yet just some rattling inside the cabin which I prob can live with until I take it in for service and make a mention. Front tyres seems to have worn a little compared to rears...other than that I hope the first service is nothing of a major thing. meet up wud be cool!
  6. had mine for 2 months and doesnt seem to have any signs of leaks yet anywhere and it's been rainly loads lately here in the north west. Is the leaking fault at the same place for everyone? where exactly does the water get in? Is it actually the seals on the outline of the door or through the window seals? Can someone clarify? it's just so I know where to look
  7. yea i need some decent stuff too...I rarely have passengers in my car and in contrast to the passenger and back seats....the driver side is quite worn and shiny from daily wear.... :(
  8. "ASR can cause lift off oversteer if it cuts power suddenly mid corner. As Ben points out all ASR/ESP do is reduce power when you break traction - if you're not breaking traction then there is no difference between having it off and on, especially considering you can't turn it fully off.... Driver aids ... bah humbug Chris" you've lost me there...i just know how to accelerate...break...and steer..
  9. I never really switched off ASR before but this morning I gave it a go and it seemed as if the drive was alot easier and there was less resisitance (only minimal) in the overall acceleration of the car and turning was lighter...or maybe it's just psycological... does ASR impact fuel economy? I mean it's electronics that control the asr system right? but what about it's impact on the physical components of the car in terms of fuel use?
  10. Just out of interest, would changing ur rims void the warranty of your car? what if they are skoda rims like the octy ones? They do look pretty nice on the fabia! tempted!!!!
  11. Just wondering if they provide a good service if anyone has ever used them in the past
  12. As much as I'd like to have a go at one...I probably have the most limited technical knowledge with cars...I just drive them....but I'm willing to learn so thats why I'm at this forum alot these days lol. Do you think the issue could be with a faulty fascia product?
  13. Jeremy Clarkson Skoda Roomster review | Driving - Times Online Was reading todays online paper and came across this
  14. I'm interested it getting hold of a maxi dot display for my Fabia VRS too. Have you got the problem fixed yet? So aswell as installing the maxidot, you have to reprogram and reconnect some elements of the new face plate am I right??
  15. Just out of interest...can turbo's just go even when driving in non aggressive conditions?? what is usually that makes a turbo go - too much pressure?

  17. I dont think that there's anything at all special about a SE 001 or 007 to any other SE VRS....it's just a number printed on the leather seat anyway.....bloody skoda and its internal auctions...
  18. sounds like a lot of problems from owning it for 2 years... could you tell me what reg your car is and how many miles you had done? I've just bought a new vrs and really want to keep it for a good few years but it appears that people have posted msgs on the forum about certain areas of the vehicle requiring heavy repair work not far into the its life beyond the warranty state.
  19. What happens when your turbo goes? Is the car still drivable or does it disable the drive? Sure hope mine doesnt go during the course of ownership... I dont rag it that hard either...max I've taken it is 4k rpm in 3rd and 4th...
  20. when i tried pulling out the vent switch fgr the can cooler on the drivers side, I yanked it right off and bits of metal contacts came with it too!! Also in the glove box, the dial where you control the box temperature is annoying me because its rattles during accelration....
  21. getting diamondbrite whacked on my car this weekend and full valet... cant wait wooo!
  22. me too! Would really love to have this display fitted!
  23. I've stalled a couple of times previously in 2nd gear and the engine never produced a bang at all...That's what worried me yesterday as I didn't think it was the average stall and that something could have messed up with the car.
