  1. A rubber one.
  2. Calm down fella ffs. 😆
  3. I'd agree about keeping the dmf in place but at the end of the day its your money and choice. At 200k miles I'd be concerned the gearbox will be next to go bang with a smf conversion.
  4. Looks a real ****er to change. I'm having similar issues, I removed my recirc flap motor and took it apart to clean the potentiometer and got that working but I'm dreading trying to get to the V68 motor. You can split them to clean although they are not designed to be, but I'm not sure how long this would last.
  5. I wouldn't risk it tbh, many will be in a similar condition.
  6. My cover has an oil leak which I'm struggling to seal as it's warped. Has anyone used an aftermarket cover that fits ok? I've used febi bilstein stuff in the past which seems to fit well but these are still £130. I see darkside list an oem but this is £180 plus delivery. ASZ engine.
  7. Just what I read on here really, I can't see it being the case personally.
  8. Found out how to do it using vcds, seemed to improve a bit but think the motor needs replacing. I removed and cleaned out the recirc flap motor potentiometer and now that seems to work ok but accessing the other motor is a bit more involved so will leave for now as it is working to some fashion. Fan speed doesn’t work on setting 1 so I’ve ordered a new resistor.
  9. After doing some reading it seems it would be better to blank the egr feed pipe at the manifold end as some have reported problems with overheating of the pipe with no egr flow.
  10. Going to remove my egr valve for cleaning this weekend and wondered if its worth doing the above mods? Car is a 2004 Vrs with the ASZ engine. Just more interested in keeping the engine clean really. Seems to be as easy as putting a bolt or similar in the egr vac line to disable it but am not sure if this will trigger the cel.
  11. My spare is 205/45/16. I know some use bigger tyres for extra grip and rim protection etc, I was just curious. I always try to buy premium where I can, the difference is literally night and day. Some impressive tyres I've tried in the past include uniroyal rainsport, Goodyear Eagle f1 and Michelin pilot sport.
  12. I was under the impression fli stuff is complete junk. No offence meant to the previous poster.
  13. I have the issue where it’s difficult to regulate the cabin temperature, it’s either full hot or cold with no adjustment, 2004 Fabia with manual controls. I’ve cleaned out the cabin temp sensor. I understand there is a calibration procedure you can try first using vcds but cant seem to find how to do it online. anyone know how to do it? Thanks
  14. These days there isn’t much price difference between a larger tyre and a smaller one. Premium 18:inch tyres on my old Golf Gti were around £90 a corner, seems like 16 inch are not that far away.
  15. I see the standard size for a 2004 Vrs is 205/45/16 but mine has 215/45/16 fitted. Just wondered is there any reason for this?
  16. I do agree but just want something half tidy to go in there.
  17. They look ideal really, bloody cheap too.
  18. Any recommendations for some front speakers up to £100 max. one of mine is buzzing and would like to upgrade them. Happy to go either component or 2 way, not looking for all out quality tbh. I’m aware I will need the adapters etc. Reasonable Sony head unit driving them. JBL and Rockford Fosgate used to be pretty good, not sure what they are like these days.
  19. Answering my own question but I bit the bullet and ordered 2 genuine oem ones.
  20. Hi guys I've just bought a 2004 model VRS and it's fairly standard so I'm looking to just freshen it up a bit starting with the badges. Does anyone have a link to some that fit well or is it a case of going genuine? Ebay seems to be a bit of a minefield. Thanks in advance.
