  1. Has anyone found, bought and fitted any Octavia-specific seat covers that they can recommend? I'd love to see photos, if possible. I can only find generic covers that look a bit naff. I'd like to try and preserve my seats, which are part alcantara, in decent condition but with a degree of style.
  2. 2021 1.5TS estate. My car alarm went off just now on the drive for no reason, and there was no way I could stop it. Unlocked car, started car, stopped car, locked car. All made no difference and had coninual 20 second alarm, 5 seconds quiet, 20 seconds alarm, 5 seconds quiet for about 5 minutes, until all my neighbours were staring out of their windows at the idiot who couldn't turn off his alarm. Eventually I had to drive it 2 miles up the road to give them some peace. After about a mile it went off and stayed off. For now. Does anyone have any ideas why it would go off. Nothing loose in the car, no insects flying around in it. Question is; when the alarm goes off again, which no doubt it will, probably in the middle of the night, how can I override it and turn it off? Any assistance appreciated.
  3. Just got in the car and did my usual car to phone Bluetooth connection. Or, I would've done if the car hadn't had a hissy fit. No settings are any different from the hundreds of times I've done this previously, so does anyone have any idea why it won't connect? Any assistance appreciated.
  4. Sadly not, although (touch wood) there hasn't been a recurrence for me.
  5. Update: just went out to the car and smartlink now (bizarrely) connects. However; whereas previously when on a call the screen showed the phone menu with Google Maps minimised so you could still navigate, it now reverts to the smartlink Android auto logo when you're using the phone with no map or phone menu visible! Useless.
  6. Many thanks for taking the trouble to reply.
  7. Yes, I turned it on and the "unable to connect" message came up. I'm loath to contact my main dealer but I may have to.
  8. Hi LuxoviaRS, many thanks for your reply. Yes, my understanding was that I was to turn on the car WiFi. It has never asked me to do that previously.
  9. So; the latest episode in the endless saga of infotainment disasters has just occurred. For the last year I've been getting in my 21 plate 1.5SE, switching on infotainment, selecting Smartlink, connecting my S22 via Bluetooth and making calls. Not today. Wouldn't connect and started telling me to "turn on WiFi". It' never asked that before. When I tried to do just that it was "unable to connect". The smartlink main menu failed to appear. However: when I switched off the engine and used my phone in my hand, the phonecall info appeared on the infotainment screen. When the call ended, the screen reverted to "unable to connect" with no smartlink menu showing. When I went into the main menu to turn on WiFi, as asked, it said that turning it on would disable the e-sim. I did that but was told once again that it was "unable to connect". Anyone any ideas what's going on or what to do about it? Any assistance appreciated.
  10. Many thanks, xman, will have a butcher's on the morrow.
  11. Hi xman, I must've posted my reply at the same time as you. Have discovered that feature and tested it. The windows don't reclose. Just need to find out how to turn it off!
  12. **UPDATE** Apparently this is an actual feature of the car, if you press and hold the unlock button on the key fob all the windows will open but the car remains locked. The fob's been in my pocket the whole time so must've been pressed whilst in there. Lucky I went out when I did. What moron dreamed up such a ridiculous feature, if that happened when the car and I weren't at home who knows what the outcome could be? So, next question; how do I disable it as there's no sign of it in the menus?
  13. At 18.30 I went out to my car (2021 1,5 Estate), which was parked on the drive at 12.30 and locked by me, and all the windows were wide open with the car still locked!!! They were all closed when I left it. Fortunately it hasn't been raining but it could've been. Anyone have any idea what's going on? I've closed them all and re-locked the car but I can't afford to have that happen again as bad weather is forecast. This is a major problem. Any assistance appreciated.
  14. My 2021 1.5 SEL has a similar problem. Like you, I have the "Manoeuvre Braking" warning but I have a "Park Assist Unavailable" warning, as opposed to Front Assist. In my case this only happens first thing in the morning. If I knock the car off and restart there's no sign of any warnings and if I start the car later in the day neither appears. Dealer said that the Parking Sensor Module needed replacing so they did the job last week under warranty and guess what. That's right; it hasn't cured it!!!
  15. My 2021 1,5 TS Estate is 2 years old next month. To that end the dealer has rung me and told me it's time for an "Air-Con Check". This is apparently outside the remit of the servicing package/first MOT that I paid for in advance when I bought it. They would like to relieve me of 139 quid. For what, exactly? Car's done 7700 miles (ex'demo'), I've had it since last November (at 3300 miles) and the air-con works flawlessly. Questions are; what exactly are they going to do for that money and do I need this done, or are they just putting the "con" in air-con? If I turn them down will they play the warranty card? Also, I have no service history for my car, how can I get it as it may well be due a service after 24 months but I've no way of checking myself? Cheers for any assistance.
  16. It's an EFB battery, I charged it with a NOCO Genius 5 on standard setting and with negative charger croc' connected to remote terminal on bulkhead. Not had any alarms going off since and car starts first push of the button as it always has. Stop/start's turned off on mine though, as I find it an irritant.
  17. Hi AG Falco, the car has Stop/Start and I'm fairly certain that the battery is original so I have to assume it has S/S capability. I charged it on the car as per the Skoda online manual.
  18. Late 2021 1.5TS Estate. Alarm went off recently that I couldn't stop, it went on for 5 minutes. Dealer workshop guy said probably low battery warning but seemed a bit vague! Checked battery with multimeter, reading 11.95V after standing overnight. Charged it for a few hours until charger indicated Max. The reading was then 13.5V. Started car, tickover reading 14.4V. Overnight, back to 11.95V. According to most sources 11.95V at rest indicates a goosed battery. HOWEVER: at no point has the car given me a red, or even amber, battery warning light. In fact, there isn't even a battery light of any sort that comes on when the ignition is switched on (unlike every other car I've ever owned), car also starts instantly on the button as it always has. Can anyone give me any pointers as to whether the battery should be replaced, or even where the battery light is? Any assistance greatly appreciated before throwing over a ton at a replacement battery that might not be required.
  19. 2021 1.5TS estate. My car alarm went off earlier on the drive and there was no way I could stop it. Unlocked car, started car, stopped car, locked car. All made no difference and had to wait a full 5 minutes until it went off on its own. Rang dealer, workshop had gone home, bloke said battery might be low. Checked it at 11.93v resting and rang AA. Unfortunately one of their "partners" will be attending and as they are a local recovery company, not a garage, I can be reasonably confident that they won't have a battery. Question is; when the alarm goes off again, which no doubt it will, probably in the middle of the night, how can I override it and turn it off before my neighbours lynch me? Any assistance appreciated.
  20. More or less bog-standard 1.5 from August '21, I'm afraid, although I have added mud-flaps and a rear bumper protector since these shots were taken. Ex' demo purchase in November '22 at 3309 miles.
  21. Just fitted this stainless strip and have to say am very pleased with it. Fit and finish are faultless and although I have a fold out flap on my boot-liner this will provide an extra level of protection from our Greyhound's unfathomably long and scratchy claws! 32 quid from VF Autozone via ebay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334674046470
  22. Don't think it will. Mine is an S22 Ultra and didn't, and although it is in a hard case because I'm clumsy it makes only a minimal difference to overall length 😞
  23. I bought one of those too, very good and I highly recommend it. Unfortunately it's now redundant as my new phone is too long to fit in the space so I'll have to come up with an alternative!
  24. Thanks inspectorman, time for me to buy a lead-lined wallet!!
