Kodiaq - service and maintenance intervals
Friction material would make sense to me. I will be doing mine every 2 years from now on!

Kodiaq - service and maintenance intervals
Wow! That seems a lot. Is this the first time after 3 years or after one year? What do you think it is - hopefully not metallic - and how many miles had you done? Looks like I need to motivate myself to do mine now I'm out of warranty. A really useful picture. Thank you for sharing it.

Kodiaq - service and maintenance intervals
I don't know what has prompted the reduction in oil change interval. They can't use the same excuse as brake fluid changes - to align with their electric vehicles! Yes, you can instruct the dealer to clean the filter - I believe they do have a standard time for it. They will charge you extra but then oil changes on the Haldex and DSG are considered 'extras' (ie outside the standard service content) also. As a retired Chartered Engineer, it bothers me that anyone would consider changing any lubricant in a mechanical system without doing anything to the associated filtration.

Kodiaq - service and maintenance intervals
I have a Karoq 4x4 (same Haldex I believe) which is now 3 years old and out of warranty so it's just had what might be its last main dealer service. Whilst discussing future servicing requirements with the (excellent) service staff, they told me the Haldex service interval was reduced to 2 years sometime in 2024. Based on advice from a family member with a very low-mileage dealer-serviced Yeti 4x4 owned from new, I had an oil change done on my Karoq as an extra after only 1 year. However, my understanding from the family 'expert' is that it is the filter change which is important and that is not included (or wasn't) in the service schedule. Happy to be proved wrong by those with superior knowledge.

Towbar electrics for 2020 1.5 Karoq
Update to my previous post: The garage just off Gloucester Rd is now called PC Motors (was Elm Road Garage?) it is at Unit 1A Elm Road - same place it always was. Don't know if it has changed hands with the name change but it still markets itself as a VAG specialist. Looking at Google Reviews, they are mostly good with a couple of negative ones.

Towbar electrics for 2020 1.5 Karoq
I'm in the Bristol area too. I bought my Karoq used from Heritage Skoda in Weston super Mare and got them to fit the Skoda retractable tow hitch and full electrics two weeks later. IIRC they charged me just over the equivalent of what I would have had to pay for a third party tow-bar (Witter) and the wiring loom / modules from PF Jones. The advantage is that they also did the set-up programming (which I believe is necessary once the loom is connected). I wouldn't normally go to a main dealer but with them fitting it, it was included in the balance of my warranty and I thought the price was not unreasonable. I wouldn't touch them for routine servicing - they're simply too expensive (as is the Bristol branch). I take mine to Platinum in Bath (Skoda dealer) whose prices are much more reasonable - might be worth asking them to quote for a tow bar. I've used a couple of mobile towbar fitters over the years but not on a Skoda and not where full electrical integration is required. I've also used Honeybourne trailers in Ashton Gate - but not sure if they're still going. There is an independent Skoda specialist (Elm Ltd?) just off Gloucester Road but I haven't tried them for routine work yet - might be worth asking them too as no doubt they have all the programming equipment. Be very interested to know how you get on.

Hi from a new member in Liverpool uk.
I have a 4WD DSG petrol Karoq as I tow a small boat (actually quite a heavy one at 500 kg). It was my first Skoda and I'm very pleased with it. My wife likes it too for everyday use. Can't comment on suitability for work as I'm retired but the boot's a reasonable size. Two things are unexpectedly good for towing: the cruise control is a joy and if you get one with a reversing camera, you can position the tow hitch right under the trailer evety time.

Converting Karoq SE-L with space saver spare wheel to full-size spare wheel
Is this attitude really necessary? I have benefitted a number of times from Carlston's extensive and accurate knowledge, as have others on here. Your claim that Carlston's post is wrong is clealy incorrect in itself.

Reversing camera image - can you see the car's own number plate?
I don't have the bells and whistles either. My image looks the same as Rory's although I'm pretty sure I can see a thin sliver of number plate all the way across.

Reversing camera image - can you see the car's own number plate?
Yes, I do too. Like you, I didn't notice it to start with. Probably took me a couple of months! Having said that, I think it might be possible to move the camera direction slightly by applying finger pressure and attempting to move the outer transparent surface. I haven't deliberately tried this as I don't want to spoil the current set-up. As a 'reversing camera sceptic', I am completely won over through using it to couple my boat trailer as I can now position the tow-ball so precisely that all I have to do is lower the trailer socket vertically to engage it. Absolute boon with a heavy boat.

Karoq WLAN
My 2022 Karoq Sportline with Android Auto works so well that I use my phone with it all the time. I just ensure data, location and Bluetooth are switched on on the phone before starting the car and Android Auto does the rest. I never renewed my Skoda Connect subscription and have never missed it. BTW, I also have wireless charging.

Sending routes to the Karoq
The only time I used this, the route took 2 hours before being received in the car. I was 5 mins away from my destination at the time! It's Android Auto and Google Maps every time for me now. It 'just works'. Keep meaning to try Waze but I know Google's foibles so well It does the job for me. If I check a route beforehand on my PC then the destination's there in Recent Destinations as soon as Google Maps starts.

TPMS
I suppose if I was really brave, I could let 10 PSI out of one tyre and then drive it up the road for a mile or so to see what happens........................................

TPMS
Yes, I don't understand the logic of 'resetting' the TPMS once a year / 10k kms either. To me, TPMS seems like another unnecessary piece of 'tech'. As you rightly say, all 4 tyres could lose pressure over time and, if the tyres are all in similar condition, then I would expect any gradual pressure loss to be at a very similar rate. My guess is the real driver for TPMS is warning of a 'sudden' onset of a puncture. But in 50 years of motoring, I can 'feel' a sudden puncture long before it goes completely flat (ie ruins the tyre). My Sportline does not have smart tyre valve caps so obviously this type of TPMS does not measure pressure directly. The only way I believe it can do it therefore is by comparing the rolling diameters of each tyre and of course this will depend on tyre wear and (theoretically) on tyre loading. Anyway, I have dutifully done my type pressure checks again today and added a couple of PSI to each tyre according to my pressure gauge (Bourdon tube type). The need for a couple of PSI in each tyre is almost certainly due to the ambient temperature being a trifle chilly for early May! Have now reset the TPMS in accordance with the manual and on-screen instructions. Final message on screen showed "Tyre pressures saved". We'll see what happens.

TPMS
Just re-read my online manual yet again and see it recommends re-setting TPMS once a year /10k km. So I'll give mine another go tomorrow. How about you @thamestrader? Didn't mean to hijack your thread. Apologies.
