  1. As promised, here are some pics of the space-saver wheel kit as installed in my 4 x 4. Interesting contrast to Mark-Surrey's pics with a full size spare - ie about same boot floor height. There's plenty of room for the space-saver supplied. As the third photo shows, a max wheel diamter of 685 mm could be accommodated. Hope this is of use to someone. The previous posts were a great help to me.
  2. I've just picked up a space-saver kit for my Karoq 4x4 from Fish Brothers Swindon (skodapartsdirect.co.uk). It's not listed on their website because the wheel is too heavy to ship economically and the packing kit too big (due to larger boot floor panel). I collected mine on the way to visit relations so I'll post a photo and dimensions when I get home next week. The packing takes 5 minutes to fit and there is plenty of clearance for the 125/70R18 wheel supplied. Parts numbers (for 4 x 4) are: S5E3601011B for wheel and S57A093860A for packing, jack etc. I was charged £250 inc VAT which I did not think was too bad and was £30 cheaper than my local dealer.
  3. This is brilliant. Thank you Carlston. I had thought of measuring the circumference to eliminate any load effects / tyre elasticity but a) it's b****y cold here and b) I didn't fancy poking around to find the jacking pads. It'll be very interesting to see what my dealer comes back with (if the Service Dept ever bother to reply) but thanks to your info I'm forearmed! At the risk of thread drift, I'm wondering what the advantage of fitting 19 inch rims and low profiles tyres is compared to say 18 inch rims with slightly higher profile. I can see why on a performance car but not on an SUV (even if, as Skoda themselves claim, it is not a proper SUV!). My one compalint so far is the tyre noise which I suspect is mostly down to the low profiles although I am hoping it will improve once the tyres scrub-in a bit - only 500 miles run so far.
  4. This is a really useful thread for a new 4x4 Karoq owner like me. Thanks to all. My recent purchase is a low mileage used Karoq 4x4 Sportline manufactured March 2022 - so it's pre-facelift. I can confirm that the spare wheel recess in the floor pan is much shallower than 4 x2 Karoqs - sorry, can't give a precise dimension or photo as my wife's currently out in it but I estimate about 15mm. I'm told the reason is to accommodate the Haldex unit underneath. The vehicle was supplied with no spare wheel and just a mini compressor and can of sealant. Like others, I want to install a space-saver but not a full size wheel as it simply takes up too much useful boot space. The dealer has confirmed that a kit is available for my vehicle (he's quoting £280 including wheel, jack, packing etc) but I'm still waiting for him to confirm the size of the space-saver is compatible with the 19 inch road wheels fitted. A big thank you to Carlston for his tyre size calculations which I had already done for the 19 inch wheels but I hadn't done for the space-saver options. I had been worrying that with all the electronics fitted to the vehicle that it would throw a hissy fit if the space-saver was too far different in rolling diameter to the standard road wheels. In fact, a quick check with a tape measure earlier today showed the rolling diameter of the road wheels closer to 675 mm than the (correct) calculated figure. This was measured across the horizontal diameter of an almost new tyre with 7mm tread depth. This surprised me as I had expected the horizontal diameter to be slightly large than the vertical due to the vehicle's weight compressing the lower part of the tyre. Am I missing something here? Having said this, it seems that I won't go far wrong if I purchase Skoda Pt No 57A093860A and a space-saver with a 135/80R18 tyre. Have I got that correct?
  5. This nearly happened to us - until SWMBO found out the delivery lead time was 13 weeks!
  6. Ah, the dreaded Bristol ULEZ! I'm well outside the zone and very glad even though my 11 year old Saab (and even older MGTF) were both Ok. Both petrol of course. Fortunately I'm old enough (just!) for a bus pass so I haven't driven into the zone yet. I'm told that, together with Birmingham, it's the strictest in the Country.
  7. Absolutely no criticism implied. I'm a retired engineer so fully understand your preference for annual.
  8. I've never done mine annually on non-Skodas in the past but I do agree that 6 yrs/60k seems excessive. Wondering how easy it is to do in view of the long service interval......
  9. That's really useful info for me as well. Thank you My dealer claimed he couldn't find anything as comprehensive ...................hmmm. Also, the prices he quoted me are much higher than those shown. I've asked him to double check.
  10. Not sure if I'm telling Granny how to suck eggs here as I have only done 300 miles in my first Skoda but my dealer is trying to sell me a 'Service package' and so I requested a service schedule (no book to stamp in vehicle - digital instead). Like you, I am a great believer in changing oil more often than manufacturers state. The service guy pulled off the following information for mine (Karoq 2.0 petrol 4x4 DSG) from the Skoda database and added the following to the standard 20k mile oil change / health check regime: Air filter - every 6 yrs / 60k miles Brake fluid - every 2 yrs DSG transmission oil - replace at 80k miles Haldex oil change - every 2 years (often forgotten by dealers apparently) Pollen filter - every 2 yrs / 40k miles Sunroof roof drains - every 2 years / 20k miles (what?!!!!!) Spark plugs - Every 4 years / 40k miles. My dealer claims he does a 'health check' every other service which, as far as I can tell, is normal common sense visual checks plus fault code download and software update check. If yours is part of a 'service package' then good luck as, for mine, the serice packages are riddled with exclusions including most consumables.................
  11. Thank you for the welcome. I guess if you are waitng for delivery then you will be getting a brand new face-lifted version. Will be interesting to hear how you get on with all the improvements on the latest version. I think mine is one of those which was sent down the line to use up as much as possible that would not be required going forward. It was first registered in March 22 to a Skoda dealer and then transported to my local dealer where I picked it up 'used' with only 197 miles run. It seems to have more features than I was expecting but does not have all the external facelifted features. Whilst the reg number appears correctly against the VIN on the main Skoda data base, one has to be very careful if fitting accessories as some part numbers are not 100% accurate on dealer databases. I ended up sending photos of mine to a dealer so he could ensure he sent me the correct mud flaps for instance! I'm also finding most of the well-known web-based consumables / parts suppliers are not showing the correct engine oil spec. I can only assume there must have been a recent change by Skoda. The selling dealer and the plate under the bonnet both specify SAE 0W20 (VW 508 / 509) which seems to upset a number of web shops. Apart from propensity for road noise (which I hope will reduce as the tyres wear-in), both my wife and I are very pleased with ours. Hope you will be too.
  12. Hello all, I'm located in South West England not far from Bristol. Just registered on this forum following purchase of a nearly new 2.0 Petrol 4 x4 Karoq. It's my first foray into the world of VAG having mostly owned (and loved) Saabs, the last one having lasted me for 11 years and 88k miles with only 2 non-service repairs since purchase at 35 miles. The Skoda was a used dealer purchase with 197 miles run. Wonder if it'll be as reliable?
