Amundsen MIB2 randomly restarting while driving
What do you mean by forced? I will sometimes reboot the system by holding the power button down for around 13s to get it to pick up the internet connection (have mentioned this on an old thread). But this is like the system just decides to reboot all by itself mid journey.

Amundsen MIB2 randomly restarting while driving
I've noticed increasingly that the infotainment system in my 2018 Karoq will just randomly restart. This is particularly frustrating when using the sat nav, for obvious reasons. Today I made two 90min journeys and I would say about 60mins into both journeys the restart happened. Any ideas what might be causing this? I'm on software version 480.

Advice needed! 2025 Karoq 1.5 TSI DSG juddering when pulling away - Only 5,000 miles on it.
Taking the car into an independent garage on Wed, will report back. New symptom developed a week ago - a metallic scraping sound while the car is moving. Almost sounds like I am dragging a tin can along the ground, but there's nothing I can see underneath that would cause the sound. Concerned it may be related, but equally could be something completely unrelated.

Screen mirroring- youtube?!
For obvious reasons I don't think there is an official way to do this.

Advice needed! 2025 Karoq 1.5 TSI DSG juddering when pulling away - Only 5,000 miles on it.
I have been getting this symptom sometimes on my 2018 1.5 TSI DSG (46k). Specifically, when on auto hold uphill or on an upwards ramp and I go back on the gas, the car will shudder a bit. I mentioned it going into the last main dealer service and they said they couldn't find anything wrong, just the auto box trying to find the right gear/power to move up the hill. Haven't really thought much of it since.

Stop/Start curious behaviour on 2.0 TSI
Did not know that - will give it a try, thanks!

Dash cams!
Maybe I'm not getting it, but don't you want the dashcam to have the power cut when you switch the car off and leave it? Parking mode runs on the dashcam battery, and it gets re-charged next time you drive it. That's how I use mine anyway. The battery deteriorated after about six years and I contacted Nextbase who kindly replaced it with a new battery for a reasonable fee.

Stop/Start curious behaviour on 2.0 TSI
I never disable mine - I actually don't mind saving a bit of fuel - and it rarely comes into use on short journeys. Longer journeys it will generally work, which I assume is something to do with the charge level of the battery? I have experienced it turn off the engine as I coast very slowly to a halt. I can't say it bothers me - sometimes it's right on the money, other times I don't want it to turn off so I lightly tap the gas and it starts back up again.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2026
I got my copy from the Skoda Connect map update site, so i am used to there being a long lag between releases, typically six months it seems. This time was much less than that.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2026
It seems like this was released not long after 2410 (also 202525, which I always assumed meant 25th week of 2025). Is it normal to have two releases in quick succession like this? Perhaps fixing some significant quality issue?

Traffic data taking a long time to appear (Skoda Connect)
Update on this issue from me - traffic data has been pulling in very quickly after starting the car again now. I would say within around 30 seconds I will start seeing traffic flow data (the green/amber/red roads), and then after 1-2 minutes it will start to pull in the traffic incident data too (the symbols on the map like closed roads, accidents, etc.). May take a few mins to fully populate with incidents, but that's fine. On the downside, there are occasions where the data connection just doesn't start at all. The red globe will remain present and no data is received. I remedy this by unplugging and replugging in the CarStick, and if that doesn't work I restart the Infotainment system (hold the power button for ~13 secs causes it to restart). This seems to happen around 1 in 10 times of using the car.

Traffic data taking a long time to appear (Skoda Connect)
I've recently experienced a return of traffic data issues via Skoda Connect. I tested with different data connections (e.g. change SIM card, tether to mobile hotspot, etc.) and these made no difference so I strongly suspect this is an issue on Skoda's side. For a couple of days it wasn't even registering that there was a data connection (even though there was) - all I got was the red globe icon and no traffic data. After a lot of faffing, including resetting to factory settings, and de-registering and re-registering the vehicle with Skoda Connect, it started recognising the data connection again. However, it was still not pulling in traffic data. It's now in a state where it seems to register the data connection, and pull in traffic flow data (i.e. the traffic speeds on all the roads) within about 1-2mins, but it's taking waaaaay longer to load in traffic events, i.e. road closures, roadworks, etc. I would say a good 5-10 minutes into the journey. Is anyone else experiencing issues with Skoda Connect traffic data lately? I did wonder if it was anything to do with the 2G/3G sunset (https://www.skoda-auto.com/connectivity/2g-3g-sunset), but I'm using the Skoda CarStick LTE (4G) so don't see how that could be an issue. In any case, the affected models table seems to suggest that Infotainment should still function for my 2018 Karoq.

Traffic data taking a long time to appear (Skoda Connect)
Was eventually given what should be the correct email address to chase this up with Skoda, although in the intervening weeks it seems to have improved somewhat. I'm still not getting near-instant traffic data after starting the car, but it does start pulling in data within a minute or two. It takes a while to build up to a 'full set' of traffic data where all of the incidents + traffic flow colours have loaded in, but apart from very short journeys it is at least usable and effective now. I have held off chasing this with Skoda for now and will see how it goes, particularly once the next map update comes.

Dashcam fuse query
Interesting, I have always had mine hardwired to something that does not stay live when the ignition is off, otherwise the camera stays on continually and will drain the car battery. I thought the purpose of the dashcam battery was for this very purpose - to enable parking mode to function when there is no power from the ignition. I have an older dashcam - Nextbase 312GW I think - so perhaps the functions are different now. My dashcam battery did deteriorate after a few years so I was able to send it off to Nextbase to have a replacement fitted; wasn't even that pricey (far less than buying a new one) so thought it was worth it.

Traffic data taking a long time to appear (Skoda Connect)
Who downgrades their servers? Lol I don't think there's a way to reset the Skoda CarStick. No buttons or controls on it. It plugs straight into the front USB and provides a data connection for the vehicle (assuming you have already inserted an appropriate SIM card into the CarStick). It's essentially a proprietary version of those mobile dongles that were prevalent in years gone by for people to use their laptops on the go. It doesn't put out any kind of WiFi signal. I understand more modern Skodas don't require the CarStick as they have a SIM slot directly in the glovebox. And even more modern cars don't even need a SIM card as such, they just have a built-in data connection.

Traffic data taking a long time to appear (Skoda Connect)
No, I've already tested for geographical location by driving a significant distance away from home and back on several occasions. Location appears to have no bearing on load times. I'll be following up with the Skoda Connect customer services, since I have paid for a service and it is currently sub-standard. Let's see what they come back with.

Traffic data taking a long time to appear (Skoda Connect)
The Skoda CarStick is an LTE (4G) device though, as is the SIM, so don't think this is the issue. Mobile coverage in most parts of London is very good in any case.

Traffic data taking a long time to appear (Skoda Connect)
I just don't believe that Skoda Connect coincidentally became many magnitudes worse in the four weeks that I happened to not be driving the car. The chances are very low, but it would be good to hear from others that use Skoda Connect to understand how long they wait until they get live traffic data (i.e. from the point of getting into the car and turning it on). If you think about, it should be almost instaneous - this is data being passed over a 4G data connection, not FM radio signals. The data volumes can be measured in KB or low MB, it's really not much at all. Old maps are just not an option for me - living in London it would be a nightmare to rely on such old maps given how many changes have been made to the roads here over the years.

Traffic data taking a long time to appear (Skoda Connect)
Update on this: I have tried rolling back the map version to the last one that worked well, but this made no difference to the performance issue - it still takes around 10 minutes(!) to download the traffic data. This sort of makes having live traffic data pointless, because I either set off without a route informed by live data and then inevitably hit traffic, or I sit and wait in the car for 10 minutes while the live data loads in and then start my journey, thereby increasing my journey time by around 10 minutes. Contraray to my OP, there isn't really a way to 'coax' the system into action, that was just my imagination. It takes a long time regardless of whether I actively mess around with the system or just leave it alone to do its thing. This does not appear to be related to a mobile signal issue, because I have already tried swapping the SIM card in my CarStick (to a different network) and I have also tried operating the system in singificantly different geographical locations. I have tried moving the micro SD card to slot 2 instead of slot 1. I have error checked the SD card itself - no issues. The results are always the same with regard to the massively protracted time to download the live traffic data. To summarise, I believe I can already rule out the following causes: SIM card/network issue SD card/slot Map version Geographical location I feel less confident to rule out Skoda Connect being the source of the problem. After all, I did let the service lapse, and when I restarted the subscription I began to experience this issue. I wonder if allowing the service to lapse and then restarting it a month or so later has caused an error in the system somewhere, either within my own vehicle, and/or in the Skoda cloud. I guess my next step will be to ask the Skoda Connect people, since this is a paid service. I can already predict what they are going to say..."Take it to dealer." 🤦♂️

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2024/2025
Final update from me on this thread as the problem does not seem connected to the map update after all - I have tried rolling back to the previous map version and it has made no difference to the issue.
