  2. Further to my contact with Audi Digital Services I have now managed to find the Email address of the MD of the VAG group and will be informing him of this problem as soon as I have the time to compose a message. If anyone else would like to also contact him it is - *****@*****.tld
  3. I would have thought so as well. But if Trafficmaster have stopped I don't know how it can be done unless VAG etc can get INRIX to mimic it.
  4. Just received this reply from Audi. Maybe there is hope that this will get sorted. Dear Mr. Powell, Thank you for the thorough information you provided. Our department will document the issue with TMC traffic notifications and forward it to Audi for further investigation. 5. That is interesting. So it seems that a Firmware tweek along with new maps containing the INRIX location tables would solve the problem. I hope you don't mind but I have sent this info to the person I am dealing with at Audi obviously not mentioning your uprated software in case they have a problem over it.
  6. Just sent a comprehensive set of screenshots to Audi with further explanation of the problems we are all having. Will report back as soon as they reply.
  7. My FM Radio reception is excellent but still no messages. I still get the local radio TP messages no problem but nothing on the TMC at all.
  8. Latest reply from Audi, dare I think they are now taking this seriously? Dear Mr. Powell, We hope this email finds you well. In regards to your inquiry concerning RDS, your navigation system is designed to receive traffic updates through the TMC protocol from radio stations, using the "INFO" button as you correctly stated in your original communication. Please check the menu "Info" > "Setup" > Traffic programme menu, to see if the function is switched ON. If no info appears anymore, kindly attach a screenshot from the MMI to your reply email, so that we may document the issue. Please, do not hesitate to contact us for any assistance you may need. 9. Seems there can only be two solutions - switch to INRIX or reinstate Trafficmaster. Problem is the manufactures either do not know of a problem or do not want to admit that there is one.
  10. Well done Arthur. As you can see in my posts above Audi like Skoda seem unwilling to investigate the issue and just refer you to a dealer for an unnecessary and expensive diagnostic check that will solve nothing.
  11. I have replied as follows - Dear Steff M. The action you advise is pointless as I pointed out in my previous contact. It is NOT something that an Audi Dealer can fix. This is NOT a fault on the car but a lack of reception of RDS-TMC in lots of VAG group cars due to a change of supplier. It is the RDS-TMC received over FM radio that even newer cars fall back on when they cannot receive traffic data via the live traffic digital method. I even explained that RDS-TMC broadcast ownership has changed and is now run by INRIX who assure us that their transmissions via Classic FM are working fine. What I am trying to determine is have VAG group subscribed to them and if so do us people not receiving them need to update the MMI Firmware and maps to receive the broadcasts from INRIX. In my last contact I gave links to a couple of forums, did anyone bother to read them? As I have informed you people HAVE taken their cars to dealers only to be informed that they have no idea what the problem with the RDS-TMC is and dealers have checked other cars on their premises and found that they all have the same problem. I appreciate that your department does not deal with RDS-TMC but surely someone must know which department actually does know something about the system. Kind regards - Neil.
  12. Reply to my Email from Audi Digital Services.😡 Dear Mr. Powell, We hope our email finds you well. As mentioned in our previous communication this is out of our department's scope. The details of your preferred Audi Service Center (name, address and contact phone). You may find your preferred Audi Service partner here: https://www.audi.co.uk/uk/web/en/locate-a-centre.html 2. The registration number of your vehicle 3. Confirmation that we have your consent to handle you data to your preferred Audi Service Center. 4. A telephone number that you can be reached by your preferred Audi Service Center. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are available 24/7 and you can reach us either by calling the phone number 0800 323 4855, or by replying to this email. We kindly ask that you indicate your case number. 13. This seems to be the standard reply from VAG group. The Digital Support Team will now tell you they do not deal with RDS-TMC because it is not digital and refer you to a main dealer for an unnecessary and expensive diagnostic check which will reveal that their are no faults and that they do not know how to fix the problem.😡

  15. Sent this to Audi this morning. Will post any response I get. Dear Mr Panagiotis. I realise that my issue is not a digital one and that Audi do not own the TMC system. Audi do/did pay for use of this system but it seems that the supplier of the system has now changed. The current supplier INRIX say that their system has been checked and is working just fine sending all the information the previous system did and that the problem lies with receivers in the cars. There are several discussions on internet forums about this problem and it seems that the previous system was funded by the motor manufacturers using it with collective lifetime licences for their cars. These included VAG group along with Honda and others. I do not know if these licenses have been renewed with INRIX but I do know that my car and many others no longer receive the RDS-TMC information they send over Classic FM etc. This could be due to different location tables being used that the head units do not recognise and maybe new Firmware or maps could be needed that work with these tables. Now I understand that your department may not directly deal with these issues but surely someone at VAG must know what is going on and I would ask that you forward this information to them. It is pointless taking my car for a diagnostic check because several other owners of VAG cars have done so only to be told there are no faults and the dealers do not know how to fix the problem. I have included the links to a couple of the forums below so that you can see for yourselves the frustration that the lack of RDS-TMC is causing at the moment. www.reddit.com/r/CarTalkUK/comments/132nuvb/tmc_traffic_message_channel_completely_stopped/ www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/512443-tmc-traffic-events-no-longer-being-receivedfirmware-update-required/ Kind regards - Neil.
  16. 100% agree with you. I do not want to go back to Tom Tom or similar and do not even own a smart phone.
  17. Absolutely spot on Nigel. Many of us with RDS-TMC don't have the option of switching to Smartlink or Audi Connect etc as the MMI's do not support it. I do not want to go back to Tom Tom or similar and do not own a smart phone so the RDS-TMC was very useful for me especially on long trips.
  18. I wonder if anyone has a VAG group car on which the TMC function still works as it should. Anyone who knows someone with a similar car could maybe ask the question.
  19. I had a similar response from Audi Customer Services. They directed me to their digital team who of course did not deal with RDS issues and advised me to see a main dealer. I returned to Customer Services with the digital teams response explaining that it was not only my car that had the problem and was once again asked to go to a main dealer.😡
  20. I have been to Solihull this morning from Leek (about 60 miles each way). On the way there the TMC symbol om my MMI3G Basic map view was active (not crossed out) for maybe three quarters of the way there. On the way back it was crossed out all the time. In both directions there were no messages about traffic either verbal or on the INFO button. Seems like the unit is trying to pick it up but no signal strength and maybe it is trying to pick up the Trafficmaster info which I believe is still broadcast on Capitol and Heart but minus any messages.
  21. It leaves all of us with older RDS systems in the lurch.😡
  22. So it looks like we are dependant on the VAG group getting their wallet out then.
  23. Hi Derek. What happens with my MMI3G Basic is as follows. If I get in the car, start it up and go to the map view the TMC symbol is always crossed out. Yesterday I drove to the local garage/post office and for the last half mile the cross disappeared. On the way back it became crossed out again roughly at the same point. Later I drove to the tip in Leek and back with TP crossed out all the time. Two days ago I drove to Rudyard lake and TMC was crossed out. On the way back taking a different route the cross out went until I was stationary at a roadworks when after a couple of minutes it became crossed out again without moving. Another instance of the problem was when driving back down the M6 from the Lake District it was active and I was warned of big 45 minute hold ups around junction 16/17 area due to an accident and lane closures. It told me it was working out a new route but then said there was not one available. Clearly this was wrong as I left the M6 at junction 18 and drove home via Congleton then over the tops to Ruston and home to Cheddleton with only light traffic. Even at this point there were no TMC messages shown on pressing the INFO button where they used to be. I am really puzzled by this as Derek has said that INRIX say the information is still being sent via Classic FM.
