  1. Hi, yes. R8 fronts are 19x8.5 ET42 with a 57.1 bore. Not exactly the same but should be a good fit (+8mm) without looking nuts.
  2. Hi all, I’m after changing the wheels on my 272 to something a fair bit lighter (currently vegas) and would value some other opinions. I’ve done a lot of searching on the net and for a while decided that black wheels weren’t for me, but more recently have come to like them, mostly because of this photo posted by @newbie69 some time ago. My car is also a quartz grey hatch, which is helpful. I wasn’t bothered about Pretoria’s either until recently but now quite like them. The only issue is they are very expensive and don’t seem very robust. In the last few days I came across the option of Audi R8 front wheels and like the weight (9.25kg) and the robustness (forged). What do people think? Look good? Not sure if anyone is handy with photoshop? I’m open to some other options if someone has any bright ideas. p.s. Yes I know this isn’t a sports car, but there’s no harm in making it a little more fun to drive
  3. Cheers. Yes mine is booked in for a 24mm whiteline rear anti roll bar. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the change so looking forward to it.
  4. Thanks guys, I’m considering it when I get front LCA bushes done. Seems a logical time. Guessing no one has fitted any bracing to the rear?
  5. Good to know this fits and works well. It’s something thats on my list. Out of interest, has anyone tried any other bracing, such as below?
  6. Finally got this over the line, I know some people don’t get the alcantara thing, but feels mega to me. Thanks to @Dahmich and @ApertureS.
  7. Thanks for that, 24mm it is!
  8. Anyone have any thoughts?
  9. Thanks for the input. It’s true that my current front tires aren’t the best (not put on by me), when I’ve had some more wear out of them, I’ll be sure to replace with something much better. I’ve read plenty about shocks and would be interested in the Koni SA when the time comes. This is a family car as well as my play thing so B6s are going to be too much from what I’ve heard. I know people have used the superpro bushes and report good things. Just nervous of polybushes for NVH and those I linked seem like a good compromise.
  10. Has anyone tried these bushes as a way to improve handling and steering feel? They claim to be completely devoid (ahem) of voids, so are firmer for better feel. They also claim that even the tts bushes still have some material removed (although these are still stiffer than stock). I’m apprehensive about polybushing as it’s a daily.
  11. Sorry to drag this old thread up. I see people are successfully running the whiteline bar for the golf r. Firstly, why don’t they list comparability? I see that hardrace do a bar and they show comparability across the MQB platform, which makes sense. Anyway, my actual question. I see whiteline do a 22mm and 24mm bar. The hardrace is 25mm. Would a 22 make a good noticeable difference? I’m on stock suspension and may get Koni SA at some point, but likely not that soon. I want an improvement in handling but don’t want to go too far since this is a family wagon.
  12. Cheers for the input, glad the maths all adds up. What doesn’t add up is how @UndertheRadar got this work. Intrigued. I think I’m going to go down the more oem+ route anyway of solid rubber bushes.
  13. Hi, I’m interested in these arms as mine are starting to make a few noises, so it’ll need addressing in the near future. As Awesam said, superpro don’t list any comparability with the superb so I emailed them and they claim these parts aren’t interchangeable…. So then I thought I’d research the golf vs superb control arms and found this. Golf control arm is 313 ‘wide’. Superb control arm is 327.5 ‘wide’. So now I’m fascinated as to how this has worked, because this ties up with what the Aussie person found. Thoughts anyone?
  14. Wish we had the freedom in the UK that you have! Is the tuner installing all the upgrades?
  15. Definitely the airbag on the right! So I’ll pull the trigger on the new steering wheel and go on the hunt for an airbag as well. Thanks for your help.
  16. Looking at my wheel it is definitely as you’ve shown. If it was the other way around the bag would fit but assume since I have the bag with the larger back it won’t. How much would your friend be asking? I have seen a few pre facelift bags on eBay for not scary money so that’s always an option.
  17. Thanks for this info, it’s not something I would have expected! So my wheel, if it’s the updated one, should look like the one on the right with a deeper airbag top section, whereas the wheel I’m looking at needs the thinner one? I’ll definitely check this this afternoon. it’s probably worth mentioning that my car isn’t a facelift model and the front of the wheel looks identical to the one pictured in the link.
  18. Hi all, I know this topic has been covered a few times but I’ve come up against a slight issue. I have a 272 and it comes with the perforated leather wheel. I’d like to fit the alcantara wheel which has a part number 565064241A GCW. I thought it go through my local skoda dealer as I’d seen some others have done. They were indeed cheaper than the link above, but the parts manager said this wheel is listed as only applicable until week 26 2018 build date. My car was built around week 40 2018. From what I can see on other cars online, my wheel looks identical to 2016 and 2017 sportlines, but the parts manager confirmed a different listed part number for a sportline steering wheel when we checked the reg number of another car. Has anyone experienced a change in steering wheel spec in mid 2018? If so, what changed? I really want to change the wheel but don’t want to fall into a daft mistake where a connector has changed or something like that. cheers all
  19. I have my answer! After speaking to some friends who work in engine calibration and checking boost and lambda through the ODB port, we came to the conclusion that it’d been mapped, badly. I finally had someone out to check this officially and he confirmed the flash count was 10! So he put it back to stock and this morning on my commute that I was getting 20/21 mpg on, I got 26.7! I had a lot of people saying it was normal, so glad I trusted my instincts and got it sorted. As a bonus, the throttle pedal feels a lot more natural now as well.
  20. Little update on this issue. Did a test drive in a 280 today and then did the same route in my car. My car got 23 mpg and the 280 got 28.5, so something is fishy. Used an OBD reader to monitor boost pressure and noticed it peak at over 1.5 bar, so pretty certain this car has been mapped, and likely badly. It’s going to be given back me thinks…
  21. So took the car for an emissions test, given this is what it was failing before and it sailed through. So guess it can’t be throwing more fuel in than it should be or it would have failed. Think I’m gonna chill out a bit and use it a bit more, see what happens.
  22. Not that I’m aware of, but I suppose a diagnostic check would flag that up?
  23. Cheers, I’m in Mansfield, happy to get any local specialist suggestions.
  24. Yea think you’re right, likely gonna have to get it done not where I bought it to make sure it’s legit. Any value in getting that done at skoda, rather than just a local general garage?
  25. This mornings commute. The ‘runs’ it’s been on so far are 50/60 wide open country roads with a bit of 70 A1 thrown in. I’m yet to take it on an extended motorway run. But given plenty of people are getting high 30s on longer runs, mine feels a fair way off. It had a new cat before I bought it and the mot history showed some emissions issues. I’m wondering if an O2 sensor may still be not right or something, but wouldn’t this throw something on the dash?
