  1. . Yes true thanks. Is it OK to pressure washing them. I just went to a car wash nearby day before yesterday and washed the car down. The black dust was there after Ok thanks for that. Yes, I called the local skoda service centre and they told me that it is normal and that brake pads most likely won't need replacing until the 60,000 to 70,000 mark and that they do brake checks every service. Also said that vrs brakes are larger brakes and that happens. Yes thank you i learned that is true there will be a warning ⚠️ light indicating, nothing to worry about especially at just 4,000 km
  2. Hi i was wondering if i can get some advice. I've noticed that my front two wheels have had an accumulation of quiet a lot of black dust that isn't present on the back wheels . I did a quick online search and it said that its from the wearing down of brake pads, etc. One of the website suggested that the brake pads most likely need replacing and should be done straight away. Another said not to worry about it. The car has nearly 4000km on the clock and the car has been on the open road including some winding and hilly roads. Is this normal to have so much dust and is it time to replace the brake pads.
  3. Yes i agree they should I absolutely agree. I like the novelty of it but practically switches are better.
  4. I reckon Ε koda have prioritised the gear ratios for low emissions and lower fuel consumption, hence lower revs when cruising. Yes it would seem so, which is a good thing. I didn't try sports mode though, i wonder if that would have made a difference. I had it on comfort or eco. Next time I'll try normal, sport and individual. I wonder though do that drive modes actually make a difference. DSG 7 speed. Oh ok even lower than the manual. What was your experience with it, did you like it , did you have any issues with it.
  5. Yes that's right 2.0 L TSI 245hp. Ut has a pretty high gear ratio wasn't expecting it, i guess never experienced it so high in previous cars. What does your one sit at
  6. Oh OK i have that option as well. I guess i need to refer to the manual to see how. Thank you too
  7. Ok thanks, i will do that. I didn't know that was an option. By the way is it normal for revs to sit that low, even with accelation it was pretty low. I guess I'm not used to it.
  8. Finally took my octavia VRS on a road trip from Sydney to Melbourne. Cruise set at 113kms. Revs noted at below 2000rpm about 1700rpm which i was very surprised i thought it would be in the 2000. The car felt extremely smooth and controlled, very comfortable. I'm very happy i broke the car in and had oil and filter change at 1500kms. 9 hour trip felt like just 2 hours. Was very very happy with it. Gave a fuel economy reading of 6.2l/100km with city driving included. This car is best on a highway. The only thing was, when i went passed 120km for a few brief moments a warning flashed saying something like top speed for winter tyres exceeded. I believe they are Bridgestone but I'll need to take a look at them more closely. Do others get similar warning like this as well. I'll be interested to know.
  9. So had the car at the service centre for most of the day waiting, first update from front staff was that they couldn't find any thing major wrong with it, they asked to keep it longer for an extra hour, good thing they did too as it did what it always does malfunctions, they detected a fault and they took footage of the problem that they have forwarded headquarters Skoda for them to advise on how they need to proceed and if it's a common issue. Then they will need the vehicle back in. They have asked us not to use it leave it closed which will be hard to do here as we are in the middle of summer, i don't think the missus will be impressed with that. So i suggesteed as soon as they find out from headquarters what the issue is for them to liase with the skoda service centre near to where we will be staying so that they can hopefully repair it and we can use it in our time away. That's the current update at this, point.
  10. Hi thanks for your response. It's currently been looked at they have the car. At this point they have told me it will be covered under warranty that will talk to me when it's ready. I hope the problem gets rectified. So it looks like i don't have anything to worry about. Let's see how it goes.
  11. I'll try not too. Thank you for the assurance. Appreciate your response.
  12. Hi, all i need some advise and direction. i don't know if this thread belongs here or in another category per se. So tomorrow i have my Octavia booked with the service centre for them to have a look at why the unit above the head that holds the controls for the sunroof, sunshade, front internal lights and switches for the rear cabin lights randomly freezes and everything stops working only to self rectify 15 to 20 minutes later. The car is under 7 year unlimited warranty with only a month and a half in so it should cover it. As It will be my first time ever taking a new car into a service centre and also the first time taking the car in. I am slightly concerned that that will try to charge me and pass it on as wear and tear even though the issue has been there since the beginning. The good thing is i have the email i sent to the dealer of that same place when the issue started occurring. Both the dealer and service centre are in the same compound, next to each other. How should i approach, this any advice based on people's experience, what should i expect demand. If someone with their wisdom and experience as well as knowledge in dealing with Skoda VAW service centres can give some tips it would be much appreciated.
  13. I like the meteor grey. It's a cool non colour.
  14. Enjoy your new Karoq. I hope it goes smoothly for you. What model are you buying. Colour. Your Octavia looks great btw.
  15. What does that stand for exactly. Ok thanks I understand now. Yes I was confusing autohold hill hold assist because I thought as a dsg car it would require it. It's clear now that it's not the same. I have hired a car many years back that had hill hold assist. Thanks for clearing it up
  16. Ok now I get it, thanks for explaining it. I must have somehow accidentally engaged the Autohold. Yes I do want the stop start on and know how to turn it off but for the Autohold I was not too sure but now it's more clear on how to do so and also how it works. I think I'm good now.
  17. Ok i didn't know that. I thought it was only to prevent the car rolling back, so it only engaged those times. But my question then why is it only occurred more recently and not all the time.
  18. I believe I do, yes, it could be that, thanks. But I would think it's always on, and it's not like it only happens only when the car is on the incline, I will have to check to see.
  19. Better still why don't you keep the car key fob yourself, why does your husband need to take the keys I don't if my wife is waiting in the car I give her the keys. She can unlock to let me in.
  20. Oh that's different i don't know how it works with manual. This is a dual clutch automatic so I wonder if that applies here too in terms of the clutch system. Anyway like I said though normally just lifting the foot off the brake pedal even slightly restarts the engine. Yes of course the car is stationary stopped
  21. So I've been using the stop/start system quiet a bit more than I planned to. Now I've noticed that for the past few days the car acting somewhat bizzare as I've observed that the engine doesn't always restart if I remove my foot off the brake pedal, rather I have to actually press the accelerator for the engine to start before i can drive off. My understanding has always been that when you remove your foot from the brake, automatically that starts the engine so you can drive off, but for the part 3 to 4 days there are times where that doesn't occur and I need to press the gas pedal. Is this normal, have others also experienced this. Or is it an indication something isn't right.
  22. Yeah that's true. Anyway I have it in the boot. Actually i may just put it back on before I take it in anyway lol πŸ˜†
  23. Cool ok. I wonder if I leave it off when I take in for a service, will they offer to put it back on or just do it automatically.
