  1. Thanks all for your expertise knowledge and experience in this matter. I for one knowsnot to use the e10 and now understand even more why 91 RON etc I'm certainly not taking that risk purposely. I don't feel the need to solely stick to 98 @SouthernComfort though will use it on occasion as price dictates.
  2. True re Australian fuels. Yes on the fuel cap it has 95 and on the other side E5 and E10. Yes logically I myself will stick with the 95 and above though others probably don't see an issue with lower RON. Yes in other parts of world with more developed fuel e5 and e10 are more suitable with higher RON.
  3. Interesting thanks for sharing your experience. I'm still reluctant to use e10. Would rather play it safe and use 95 and 98 though more dear.
  4. I guess, it makes sense. I'll take your advice given further down and as a solution i will use about half a tank then fill up with 98 to bring it closer to 95, thanks for the tip The tank is only 45 so only had 4 l left. But yes it is a mixture of 95 and 98 fuel. Not sure if that's enough to compensate though Fair enough, I'm not really aware of the rules around fuel advertisement, that could be the case. Does make sense. Yeah shouldn't be a major issue having been a one off. My mind is more at ease now with all of you here supporting, and guiding explaining. Thanks very much
  5. Yes. Thanks for defining ethanol fuel and it's constitution creation part. You are correct with it being 91 and having higher sulphur content Yep the lower RON is a slight issue i agree as it's only a one off. No i hardly redline the engine, hard to do so when you're in a very busy city with congestion and speed cameras everywhere and also coppers. Also don't want to strain the engine. Interesting never knew that about South Australian fuel pumps, here in Sydney they are, but thanks for explaining why they are not allowed makes sense Oh no sorry that was a mistype i meant to type 98 not 100. Not sure why it typed that. My mistake. I myself have never encountered 100 here in Australia. Thanks for explaining. No I only use 95 and 98. Yes i has read about this move from the government improving fuel and reducing fuel. Who knows, I personally think their focus now is more on pushing net zero, BEVs, and hybrids. There you go, happens to the best of us I'm glad I'm not the only one. Good thing you picked it up with only 3L filled. I'm not sure what the recommended fuel is for the 1.4, I wouldn't think the 91 is a major issue, does it accept that rating or do you need to input a higher RON fuel?
  6. Interesting I just saw this. Maybe the 5% ethanol doesn't have such a negative effect than the 10% does on the turbo engines
  7. Yeah that's true. Could have been worse imagine if i had put diesel 🤣😳😭
  8. Ok thanks for clearing that up. Yeah it's interesting why here in Australia the dealer was like absolutely no e10 ethanol when I first bought it. Could it be because it's also 94RON and not 95 like the one sold in the UK. Anyway regardless I'm relieved it's not that bad and I'll just play it safe and keep on putting the 95 and 100 premium fuels
  9. I did it, i accidentally put ethanol e10 fuel in my Skoda Octavia vrs. Up to now I have been religiously committed to fueling up with the recommended 95RON premium fuel and on some occasions the even more dear fuel the 100RON fuel. Today though for some reason I had a lapse of memory and instead of picking the 95 I accidentally picked the E10 and started filling up. As I'm standing there filling up I notice the pricing, which confuses me as I was pretty sure that wasn't the cost of the 95, I then realise my error. I stop the filling of the tank and I put the hose back and pick up the correct one and fill up. I endedb up filling with 17 litres of ethanol fuel and 24 of the 95. Now maybe I'm just being concerned for nothing, and maybe it's not such a major issue but seeing that the manufacturer instructs that it only has 95 I'm left wondering. I've searched online and most sources say it shouldn't be an issue as Australia's ethanol fuel is high quality and if it's a one of or rare it shouldn't affect the engine. I hope it will be OK 😬
  10. Interesting I think I may have that tool somewhere in my garage. I'll have to find it otherwise I'll just go to the local hardware store. Thanks for the recommendation.
  11. Thanks again no problem. Hey it may even take me longer so all good. I haven't found the time too busy at this point. Thanks for the further hot glue tip
  12. Ok noted thanks for the tips. I'll watch the videos, I gather they are on YouTube. That's a long time for something that only took seconds to take off I certainly don't want that. Yeah it is a bit expensive just to have a look especially if it's not that difficultto remove. I will have to question it, why next time.
  13. Yeah maybe but that's what I was told by the receptionist so I decided to just leave it for the next service in November. Thanks for the guidance on how to go about it. Yeah, nah I don't know if I want to get super glue anywhere near in there, knowing that stuff and myself I'll probably get it everywhere lol so I'll leave it out like you. I'll try to give it a go though to reposition it back.
  14. Ok thanks I will see how I go with it, will give it a go when I get the time.
  15. Is it hard to lower the plastic cover, I don't want to ruin anything. What tools do I need. I have the moon roof sunroof I wonder if they hadn't put it back properly if they actually removed that part.
  16. Hi I was wondering if anyone has ever had the following happened to them. I was using the usb c port that is behind the rear view mirror only having used it probably 4 or 5 times since I've purchased the car which was since late 2023 and the port has been pushed in. I haven't forced or jammed the chord. Now i can't use it as the usb c is about 3 to 5 mm pushed in. Of course there are the 2 ports in the centee consol i can still use. Just, curioys if this is something others have experienced . I called my local skoda service centre and they said it will cost $360aud for them to have a look at it or I can just leave it for them to look at the next major service in November for free. Not sure if they will charge me to rectify the problem though.
  17. Yes only at work, hard to park away from other cars as other cars are parked around. Specifically has happened when I've parked on the main highway road off the street as I haven't been able to find parking near work. Close to work itself or home it hasn't. Could it be other skodas passing by with their fobs automatically unlock the car. I didn't consider it. Maybe i should turn off automatic unlock but I do enjoy the feature and find it useful used to it. Thanks for the further advice re taking it to the dealer as well.
  18. I don't know if anyone knows of this technology by Michelin or come across it before, it's called the Acorus technology and it's supposed to prevent or reduce damage to low profile tyres. Here's an article about it. I've just come across it and it may provide the answer for those with low profiles living in areas with potholes https://www.extremetech.com/cars/262619-michelins-acorus-wheel-technology-means-potholes-wont-kill-low-profile-tires-wheels
  19. Hi skoda octavia owners and skoda enthusiasts Firstly I don't know if this topic needs to be here or in a general skoda page. I am encountering an issue with my Skoda Octavia mk4 2023 model. On multiple occasions whilst park at work I've come back to find the car unlocked at the end of day. The first time or so I was unsure if I had locked it or not though I normality pay attention but the latest time which was today I knew I had as i made a mental note of it whilst walking away. Also I have the key fob in a Faraday pouch to block the signal. Now I can get paranoid and start thinking someone is able to have gotten access to the fob key and opening the car but i think that's highly unlikely though maybe not impossible. I'm thinking maybe it's more the car self unlocks. Not sure why or how. Has anyone else encountered this issue. It's baffling to me.
  20. Just saw this. How did you go? I gather it didn't appear again. It really is quiet strange just have to make sure all lights are functioning correctly i guess. Mine were fine from what I could see. It hasn't come up again. Maybe Just a glitch. I'm with you I wouldn't want to void my warranty as well.
  21. Ok, great thanks for that.
  22. Hi Not sure if this is the correct forum to post this request I was just wondering if anyone living in the Sydney basin knew of any reputable Skoda approved service centre for me to service my Octavia at. I am getting quiet worried with taking it to a Skoda dealer and them doing bugger all and worst stuffing up the car. I've read some horror stories and don't want to be another one of them. If someone knows of a good mechanic that doesn't try to fleece you and is honest as well as use Skoda VW etc genuine parts and does there job Please advise. Thanks
  23. Ok, noted, thanks for the response and advice / feedback. I'll check other lighting as well. See if I can detect anything. Otherwise hopefully it was just a one off.
  24. Hi all I got this bizarre warning ⚠️ coming home from a function early morning regarding the headlights "Fault: Vehicle lighting" headlights look like they were functioning properly, couldn't see any issues. Turned off the car let it sit for a bit and when I restarted, the message wasn't there any more. Will continue to monitor. Maybe just a glitch. Anyone have warning this before?
  25. Sharing a few pics of my black pearl MKIV Skoda Octavia VRS external and internal with moonroof open.
