  1. I called to see if my Skoda dealer could do it. They said yes for free at my next service in about 6 months or I could bring it in for a fee of $330Aud. I think I can wait. Or maybe attempt it myself. But I'm hesitant. My system has no issues. So...
  2. I didn't even know how old my infortainment system was till I decided to check it πŸ˜‚. It says Software 1900. But tbh I've had absolutely no issues with itπŸ˜€. I wonder is this version a version that has caused issues for others. I actually don't think i will be able to update it myself to 1969, I don't have the right tools and know how and I don't want to risk it. It looks like I will have to take it to the dealer. Is the 1969 really worth upgrading to? Am I missing much?
  3. Hi thanks. Ok I'll do my best to download. Can I do it from my Android because currently I don't have a pc. Will try to download when I get better WiFi connection. I'll see how I go.. I was temporatiky blocked from the site as I tried responding. I think it was my VPN turned it off and was OK. I received this message. All good now.
  4. With me I used to have issues connecting with AA, and so could only connect with a charge cable. But then I discovered it was simply because my VPN program would interfering. Now I've included Android auto as an app for the VPN to bypass and it works OK, otherwise I need to switch the VPN off.
  5. I would like to update to 1969 as well. Where and how do I do that. Can someone link me or point me to where I need to go please.
  6. Here in Aus the essentials app was of limited use and it will tell you to get the main skoda app, but even then that one didn't do much but at least it allowed you to enter your vehicle, now that one is totally useless. Both of them have been updated, the essentials one is the same with the additional message that it will be shut down, but in the main skoda app when i enter the VIN to find the vehicle it gives me this message: "Vehicle not supported by app. Your skoda is supported if it meets one of the following" then it proceeds to give absolutely nothing. At least before the update my vehicle was recognised by the main skoda app even though it never could do any of the fancy stuff it can for non Aus locations. It would be nice if they could provide better app services for us down in Aus.
  7. I think it's all those speed cameras that are everywhere that has scared people to snails pace, whether it's 99% i don't know. I myself use the gps speed and adjust my speed to suit that which i set 2 or 3 over, which means i pass most other motorists with a few passing me. I have never gotten booked and I've done many trips including Sydney to Melbourne, Sydney to Frazer island, Brisbane etc as I'm within the speed limit and only when overtaking do i exceed it. Yes that annoys me too. You really want to pass and I find a lot of time also those on the slow lane suddenly speed up as well, so you need to speed up 20 km over. It's like all this time you're sitting at 90km and now you decide to speed up..
  8. I am not sure, it may. I'll have to investigate, never heard of it having an extra injection . Ok noted I'll keep that in mind too. Mine is fine at this point. That's interesting thanks for letting me know. .
  9. Yeah it's annoying because I have to fork out a lot more at the pump. E10 can be much cheaper up to 20 c/litre
  10. I believe it's the low RON rating at 94. All I know is in was told that it would not be good for the car and I would void my warranty. So I just stick to 95 or 98 on some occasions.
  11. Read all the above and noted. Thanks again. Some sound advice there. I hope you're still not typing lol Yes prevention is key here, of course I'm not talking about unnecessary wasteful and money wasting procedures. Lol you and I both. No honestly I love the Octavia wagon it's a beautiful car to drive, have managed to take it on the open road and it just purrs gave a return of about 6.3l/100km. I just want to look after it properly. Probably was not the best decision getting a turbo and expecting good fuel economy, especially in these low speeds in traffic urban busy streets so yes I agree but I have it now. So until I get rid of it I have to put up with it good or bad Sure I never said I was a perfect driver lol I'm sure i can learn some skills that would be useful. i B think with over 25 years of driving experience I am doing ok never really had major issues. Mine are at around 39psi had them pumped up to that when we went away for a long road trip, haven't checked them since, πŸ™ƒ I guess I better have a look at them πŸ˜„. I normally keep mine at 36 but i think I've read others have them even higher in 40s. No no tools or junk in my car, I keep it pretty clean, no unnecessary weight. Yes it's these blow-out runs I'm wondering where and when I can do them. What with work and other commitments plus only having access to the car 3 or maybe 4 days, not to mention people frustrate me with their snail paced speed all around me nearly all the time, sitting at 10 or even 20km below the speed limit blocking the way, taking their sweet time. Oh yes now I remember that's when I have my blow- out runs πŸ˜‚. Yes the fuel economy will suffer even more with blow out runs. True but they are necessary or at least recommended for the vrs. City for me is average at about 12.0. Yes true I agree πŸ‘
  12. Hey thanks I really appreciate it. No I'm serious I don't understand why I would not be, isn't prevention the best answer. Here in Aus we have 95 and 98 our e10 is not suitable for the vw engine, I was warned against it. I do want to take the car for drives at those speeds but hardly get the time as the car is used extensively in urban city driving in traffic most times for work. The average speed is 26 km. Unfortunately near my home all the highways are 80km and tolled which i refuse to pay. I have to go out of the city in the outer suburbs to get speeds like that. Yes varied driving is the best and exactly the economy suffers already I'm finding the fuel economy isn't the best but I'm hoping it will improve over time. In terms of accelerating and choosing the appropriate gear selection I will try that out.
  13. Witch doctors lol nope don't plan on taking them there don't think they will be much help 🫀 but I know what you mean πŸ˜†. Anyway I'll keep up the servicing with the 7 year warranty, though I don't think l want to wait till 10 years and hope that the engine has been looked after πŸ˜…. No ill leave it to others to ask that rhetorical question of VW Group, I'll rather not have to find that out. Oh and 10 years i don't know if I want to go that far.
  14. Nope not April fools lol πŸ˜†. Seriously, I'm referring to carbon build up in intake valves in direct injection engines. Also VAWg engines from what I read in the past somewhere can't recall where are prone to this issue. I'm using the recommended which is 95 and some times I've used 98 RON. Actually I have 7 year warranty to be precise.
  15. I am not really sure to be honest i just want to avoid issues with the turbo engine I have and was thinking is this process a good way of getting rid of carbon build. Whether I need to do it every year I don't know, I'm just asking. Thanks for your reply
  16. Ok thanks I guess a bit too early for that. Ok yes true it still needs to be run in. Ok I have an Octavia VRS it has the turbo petrol. Was just curious if I should be worried about carbon deposits at this stage.
  17. Hi I was wondering Is it worth getting a turbo engine professionally decarbonised. If so when should one do it and how often. My car has just over 7000 km and still has approx 8 months to the next service. How much does it cost about. I'm in Australia.
  18. Finally, after so many weeks of malfunctioning sunroof, sunshade, interior lights I've been able to leave the car with Skoda service centre for them to work on as they have another similar vehicle that has the same unit as mine so they can exchange parts, they will have the car for a few days, also in for the recall as well.
  19. Congrats, great looking car. Enjoy your new rideπŸ˜€πŸ‘
  20. I was thinking maybe this will help. Buying 3 faraday pouches or 2 for the ones you don't use for the purpose of not only blocking the signal so that the 2 other fobs are not constantly sending out signals that may be picked up from the vehicle nearby as well to prevent thieves from stealing your fob signal and making their own
  21. Hope this helps. I believe it's the last instruction
  22. Yes πŸ‘ Haha the old ash trays. Had coins in them mostly lol πŸ˜† I agree. That's what i was using just haven't done it for a while now. Thanks, yes i have 3 microfibre wands or cloths at home. Just didn't bother bringing one with me on the trip. Can always pop into one locally and buy one
  23. Fair enough, i have never noticed it on any other car I've been driving, probably wasn't paying any attention... No, not an automatic car wash that you drive in, it's one of those that you do the work yourself. Noted though. Could be, i have had applied 4 layers of Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic 3 in 1 Detail Spray Waterless Wash applied weeknky since before we left for this trip from the time of purchase. Car looked immaculate including the wheels like new. Now being away from home didn't bring the products. i have only hosed down i haven't applied a sponge or cloth etc just noticed front wheels had black dust 😐 Thanks for the recommendation and the link. Will look it up. Much appreciated Awesome thank you as well. Yeah quiet annoying πŸ˜‘ Absolutely πŸ‘
