  1. Hi, Yes there are self adjusters on the rear drum brakes. They are a wedge design which is pulled into position by a spring. To release the adjuster you need to remove the wheel and the philips screw if it has one on the drum, turn the drum whilst shining a torch through the wheel bolt hole to find the adjuster wedge inside. It is near the top left/right depending on which side of vehicle. You then need to use a screwdriver passed through the hole to lever the bottom of the wedge adjuster upwards. Once you are successful, the brake shoes will move away from the drum and the drum can be released from the hub. It is a pretty fiddley job, I had to do it myself a couple of months back. The misty windows is probably just the cold air inside the car condensating on the windows because of the sun beating onto your windows. My Micra does the same, but I am yet to find any wet areas on any carpets.
  2. Just got this setup myself...VERY handy. Is quite different from Haynes manuals, but that's all I've ever used. I'll try it out next time I need help, but with a Skoda, that shouldn't be too soon.
  3. I'm guilty of using the forecourt airline and guage :( even though I know they shouldn't be trusted. I've heard (but don't know how true it is?), that the pop-up pen type guages are quite, if not the most reliable/accurate. Always check the tyre pressures when cold/ car has not been driven for a few hours.
  4. I took that one from my run-around which is going at the end of the month, and the wife wants it in the Octy as it's better than the 'Symphony' that was in there. To be honest though, there wasn't anything wrong with the original 'Symphony' stereo at all, reception was good and had a cd. I've already told her that if Argos sell out when I get my next run around in July next year, I'm having that one back
  5. Nice I put one of these in today. Wife loves it, especially the ipod connection and the bluetooth handsfree functions. Great little stereo for the price
  6. Try putting your VRN in on HERE and see what they use? EDIT: Used a british vehicle with the same engine as yours and it says to use Castrol Edge 5w30 (fully synthetic). Hope this helps
  7. This any good? Funny, I fitted a new radio to the Octy today too. The surround that came with the stereo fits perfect tho? p.s: A few more here.
  8. I'd check that fluid is coming out of the pump outlet by disconnecting the pipe from it and operating the pump, if it is then it's either a break in the piping somewhere from there to the back washer jet or a blockage? Is there any water in the reservoir?
  9. Had mine about 2 years, still as good as when I bought it. I tend to use it a couple of times a week tho, wet shave the other 3 days
  10. I can HIGHLY recommend this website for your shaving issues, a wealth of info. I don't know how you shave but from what I know, your irritation could be lots of things from too much pressure when using your razor to going against the grain. Try the guys on the link, they'll sort you out!
  11. A Braun 'Smartfoil' is THE only shaver I'd EVER buy again. I've tried loads of electric shavers (rotary head ones rip up my face really bad) over the years and always suffered really bad irritation after using them, felt like my face and neck had been set on fire! The Braun foil shavers were recommended to me by my brother, one of the best recommendations he has ever given me. I have never suffered any irritation whatsoever with the Braun, Also, you only need to apply the gentlest of pressure when using it and the shave is as good as a wet shave. Hope you make the right choice! P.S: I use electric pre shave (like after shave, but you apply before shaving ) before using my shaver - Lovely!
  12. Excellent post! answered a few quenstions I've had in my head for years! Thanks
  13. I've used ECP quite regularly over the past 4 - 5 years and never had a problem. Delivery is always quick, parts are good quality. A happy customer BTW - I have NO experience of GSF, only just found them by reading this topic
  14. Hi everyone, I'm thinking of buying a Fabia 1.9 SDi as my run about with occasional long'ish journeys. I'll be looking to spend around 2K at most. I have heard that the sdi engine is pretty much bullet proof and good for a few hundred thousand miles? Can you tell me any "Pro's and Con's" to owning this car, and anything I should watch out for in particular? I know it's not the quickest, but then I don't drive the fastest :p (driving a 1.0 micra) Many thanks in advance
  15. Hi, It can be found here (page 75) hope this helpes
  16. Hi eveyone, I'm new here and I'm an alcoholic!......Only jokin! Joined up ages ago after I bought my First Skoda (Octavia 1.9 Tdi), and just been mooching around since Thought it was about time I introduced myself. Currently living in North Yorkshire, aged between 38 and 40, Married with 1 son (4), a Jack Russel, Greyhound (ex-racer), and a cockateil> Only thing I have ever had to have done apart from servicing is a new indicator stalk (indicator relay kept clicking even when stalk was in neutral position). Definately going to upgrade to another newer Octavia in the next couple of years (wife loves it), and get myself a Fabia I think. Geat to be a member of this illustrious group, hope to be here for a long time
  17. I know this is an old post but thought I'd answer it anyway :-) The resistor is gone. It will work on the highest setting as the fan motor then uses the full 12 volts that the vehicle electrical system sends to it (resistor is redundant on this setting). 3,2 and 1 positions will reduce the voltage via the resistor by 3 volts each step slower (3rd position = 9 volts, 2nd position 6 volts etc.). Hope this helps for anyone with the same problem.
