  1. Thanks for the info, it is highly appreciated. Yes the original post was in 2020 but the fix was only about 6 months ago in Sept 2023, but no update since. One would assume it is now fixed but you never know which I why I asked the question. I know from experience with other manufactures in the VAG group that they often leave small snags for ages before they address them in production. Personally I would still be interested to hear what Veli88 thinks. Regards Ado
  2. Hi Veli88, just wondered if the online control module fixed the MIC snag? We are picking up a new Kamiq today and thought I had better watch out for this, as it is apparently a known problem it would be nice to know the solution. Thanks Ado
  3. Hi Dave and Vivak, I tried to respond to you individually but could only send one private message a day which went to Dave ,hence this reply. Ive also been a bit rough today so missed Daves recommendation as to a parts provider, I will try them before I firm up my order. I think the information and pointers you have both given me are very useful and don't think anyone needs to send any additional photos, I've got the mod clear in my head now. Vivak, noted the comments re prices and bolts, thanks. So far even with shipping the parts they are coming in about 20% cheaper than I've managed to locate in the UK. I would agree that breakers would be a good source but have nothing locally so can only put a request out via various web sites but nothing has come back so far. Silly me my wife is picking the car up tomorrow, I thought it was a few days away!! When I can I will go and have a poke about in the sidewalls or better still get my son to do it with the suggested needle and see what provisions are hiding behind them. Once I'm back on my feet if there's anything missing I'll probably drop the side panels and put a bit of lightweight structure in for the missing attachment locations. Again very many thanks for your help. Ado
  4. Hello, I'm really aiming this at Dave-75 and Seasider who seem to have done a lot of work and provided narrative, photos and dimensions to help others. My wife is taking delivery of a new ( old spec) Kamiq in the next few days. We bought this as a pre-spec'ed car, which is all that you can currently get, but did want a variable height floor and so will need to retrofit it. I've got hold of the necessary part numbers and am on the verge of ordering these from skoda-parts.com in the Czech Republic ( anybody used them, any comments gratefully received) but before I do so have a couple of queries. It seems to be the case that I don't need to buy new sidewall panels and that the only difference between pre-mod and post mod panels are the cut outs for the forward floor guides and lashing rings ( I can handle those). I also understand that there may or not be the existing structural provisions for the guide rails. What I'm not exactly sure of is other than the forward guide rails how the floor is supported at the tailgate end. I am assuming that it is supported on the lip of the the tailgate sill trim and by moulding at the end of the side wall panels. However I have seen none of this and am currently not very mobile after some major orthopaedic surgery. When my wife went to dealership to finalise the purchase yesterday I had her take some photos of the boot. I have annotated those photos with my queries and attach both plain and annotated photos to this post. My wife thought the right hand side panel was angled but I think she is confused by the angle section going forward to cover the wheel arch and at floor level the sidewall panel is vertical or near vertical if that makes sense. I would be very grateful if either of the two named members or anyone else that has the variable height floor could take a look at these and answer / provide photos of the back lower back end ( ie with the floor out) of the sidewall panels of a car with the variable floor. Although I understand that the Scala is more or less identical to a Kamiq I would be more interested in the Kamiq variant. My understanding of the parts required is: Variable boot floor: 658861411 WR9 boot floor plate 657864511 9B9 Side panel left 657864512 9B9 Side panel right 8V0863503 C4PK x 2 lashing eye N 10751101 Oval Hexagon socket head bolt x2 658867427 B WR9 luggage compartment trim left - modify from existing panel 658867428 E WR9 luggage compartment trim right - modify from existing panel Regards Ado
  5. Hi Guys, At the end of the month I'm supposedly taking delivery of a 1.5 DSG Kodiaq SEL exec. One of the ordered options was the usb port in the rear view mirror housing (£55 when i spec'ed it) for powering dash cams. I've see a lot of narrative for several different models regarding a retro fit of these into various models. Also in the next few days my wife will be taking delivery of a Kamiq 110ps DSG SEL exc with a lot of options, we didn't spec this car but bought it in the recent skoda clearance event. If we had spec'ed it then I would have had a few additional items: the variable height floor( watch this space) and the mirror USB-C connection amongst them. I am a recently retired professional engineer but have just had major orthopaedic surgery and not quite back on my feet yet. However when I get the Kodiaq I will get my son to take the mirror housing apart and have a good look at how they have done the modification. We will also trace the wiring back to either the fuse box or other supply and then circulate our findings for those wanting to do the same modification, if we can find p/ns I will circulate those as well. I know that our model Kamiq does have a shroud around the mirror and again we will dismantle this and have a look at if it can be modified or at least get a part number off it as a starter - even though it doesn't have the usb port in it, it might drive me to the right location in the spares catalogue, equally the existing shroud may be able to be modified, it's not the external hole that may be a problem rather any internal moulding differences that might prevent a home grown mod. Currently I'm not able to find the VIN on the different spares providers web sites that also give access to the parts catalogue so can't even find the shroud. I did try a down load of the ETKA link that someone had kindly provided but I still couldn't find my VIN?? I'm also trying to find a FOC way of getting access to the service manuals for these cars. Someone had kindly provided a link but when I tried to use it my anti virus software pick up it was infected so would allow me to do so ( unless I disabled it which rather defeats the point of having it). If I'm trying to interfere in something that's already been addressed then please ignore this post and point me in the right direction. Regards Ado
  6. Hi Juan, thanks very much for coming back to me, looks like a good recommendation, very much appreciated. regards Adrian
  7. Hello, just about to take delivery of a new Kamiq. I hadn't thought of being able to use the load compartment cover with the dog guard in place and can see that would be useful. Previously had thought it would be a no no. So before I shell out to Skoda or Travall, could you let me know what you think to the Guardsman. Thanks Adrian
  8. Hello all, I've never owned a Skoda and came here via my satisfaction with VAG group cars specifically VW. It was time for my wife and I to replace our vehicles and the equivalent Skoda model seems for better value than VW hence the switch. We currently have a Kamiq 1.0 TSI 110 DSG SEL exec on order for delivery around the end of the month and a Kodiaq 1.5 TSI 150 PS DSG SEL Executive due for delivery at the end of March. The Kamiq is one of the current stock models that SKODA recently ran a sales campaign on and seemed like a good car for my wife who hasn't had a new car for 20 years!!! Her last car was a Citroen C3 which we had from new, she used her car daily in the course of her job and despite their reputation it never let us down once, it still starts first time whatever the weather. However having just retired and having a dog we now need something different. Whilst the Kamiq is of a fairly high spec we would have liked a powered tailgate but alas it was not to be. Being a retired engineer I'm looking to see if I can retrofit the tail gate at a reasonable cost. I can see there are various complete kits out there but they are very expensive so am looking for advice and probably piece parts from which I can build a kit. If anyone has been down this road before and can help me with the part numbers for the different components, wiring harnesses and instructions etc I would be extremely grateful. Similarly, we would have liked the variable height floor so there was a flat floor for our dog, but again wasn't fitted to the car we have bought. As far as I can determine it is possible to retrofit this at a reasonable cost. I believe I need a new raised floor panel, the left and right forward guides and possibly new lashing eyes. As far as I can tell the load compartment walls are the same with the exception that the variable floor side wall panels have cut outs in them for the guides and lashing eyes, I can cut holes if nothing else! I have seen several posts on the website covering this subject but wonder if part numbers or other details may have changed since these were written. I even noticed that one member had made his own plywood floor, which looked very good and would be my fall back option if I could not convert it. Lastly I need to get an 18inch spare wheel and tool kit for the Kamiq which only has the standard inflation kit, I know I can get these from Skoda but at a cost, so if anyone has a good set they are looking to sell then I may be interested. I currently have a Mk2 Tiguan which I've had from new and is without doubt the best car I've ever had ( used to have Volvos for many years) which will be replaced by the Kodiaq so will be selling the Tiguan, if anyone should be interested let me know and I will give you the details. It is Mid 2016 low mileage VW Tiguan II 2.0 TDI 150 hp DSG 4motion SEL with quite a lot of additional options, which I've had from new. However that is not the purpose of this post which really is just to say hello to fellow Skoda owners and raise the flag as to what I can learn from others regarding the listed modifications for the Kamiq. . Well that's it from me. Adrian
