Alarming news : no alarm in Octavia 20-21 ?
Hi , Could someone confirm whether this is true or not as I have had my car since May '23 and found out the hard way thru several breakins that the alarm is non existent in my vehicle. Was told recently by a car guy that that model has no alarm .Very confusing as I had it somewhere else for a service in another town last yesr and I asked the guy doing the service about the alarm and he said to me that it works fine .Mind you I have never heard it so cannot verify the validity of it. But, just asking.. Jemm.

Remove vomit smell from Suedia seats?
I don't know where you are from but there are some great products on the market that could be helpful for you .One that I use a lot is Eucalyptus oil. I have never had to deal with vomit but if there is a totally unpleasant odor I would spray it with Eucalyptus spray or alternatively put some in a spray bottle with some ethanol and spray it on area that has the smell. You could also ask a dry cleaner what you could use ? Because I am sure they deal with lots of smells.

Under the passenger seat I found a piece of black plastic that belongs somewhere. But the question, is where? I would think it belongs maybe on the seat. It's number is : 5 WA 971 813 >PP-PE< RAY 5

Heated seats heat levels
I had to laugh at that . Apart from the occasional sarcastic remark I find most ppl on here to be very helpful. I'm not even going to ask if my car has heated seats bc I cannot even get heat in the front vents. They just blow out cold cold air. To even suggest that my seats might get warm too, tho a nice thought....we won't go there today. No .

Cold air coming up from floor
When I first got this car a year ago, the heater in the front under the screen was lovely. And one day it just stopped working and only blew out cold air. The only place I have heat is the top RH vent above the steering wheel and next to the door. Sometimes when I am parked and it is cold I just lean against the door and let the warm air blow over my face. Beautiful ! Just a codis to all this....the cold air that is not plugged .... does that come from outside ? I ask because my car is never open for long yet I have been bitten by a small something that has scuttled under the seat . Considering the car was fully detailed before I got it back in late March there should be nothing alive in my car except me. Am going to spray my car today and close it up for an hour or so. If I close that place the seatbelt is bolted to will it do anything within the car itself ? Or does it have to be left open ?

Cold air coming up from floor
Is this the one that slides forward? No I pulled everything out of it and no lever. It is big enough for a normal can or 2 Red Bulls - (by observation). Thanku . Will check out the glove box. And where do I find the transmission tunnel ? Just asking.!

Cold air coming up from floor
I hesitate to ask anything more but am hoping someone can shed some light on it (?). I've only noticed it just the past few weeks . .because I am in the drivers seat more lately I noticed frigid air coming in along the side of the seat. Not on the other side but it comes out of the slit where the seat belt is. As I mentioned in another post I only have heat coming from the top RH vent now but the coldness of this air would have to be aircon related. I now cover it .I have this glorious heat coming along the door and then I have this really really cold air coming up virtually from the floor. I know it is not a fuse but one of you tech guys could probably suggest something. Then I can ring Skoda 2 hours away and book it in. ... At the present time it is our coldest winter in 5 yrs. Thnx Jemm.

Heating...where has it gone ?
Replying to Dave From Sydney: I will try what you have suggested to see if it makes any difference. Thank you for your answer.

Boot won't lock - any help gratefully appreciated
I no longer ask the skoda dealer i go to about things that don't lock. So the boot closes and clicks but someone has discovered that if you stand behind it will open. If someone knows a way to prevent this I would be most pleased, thanku !

Heater won't heat - on one side only
Do other cars have all these problems ?

Heater won't heat - on one side only
Yes well I have this problem too. Water pump has been checked and is fine. Coolant levels are topped up and ok but the only heat I can get is the drivers side vent. This winter has been very cold with minus degree night temperatures and it is most uncomfortable with cold air blowing on you. Did you find a solution? This is a Skoda after all so I thought all things can be sorted out on a screen but in this case perhaps not ? I just put more layers on .

Heating...where has it gone ?
I hadn't driven anywhere. I was sitting in the yard waiting for the gauge to rise. Perhaps 20 minutes. I was told by the dealership that is 2 hours away to wait until the gauge hit 90 before turning the heater onto HI, so in the meantime I am sitting in a cold car, so I just drove it anyway and as I drove i had warm and eventually hot air coming out of the top RH vent, the only vent that has warm air ...so I shall be grateful for small mercies.

Heating...where has it gone ?
On the left hand side there I s a temp gauge that goes from 50 to 90. It is sitting on 80.

Keys that don't stay charged...
Ok I have been broken into so often in the past few months that I decided to leave a key in a safe place in the car as an emergency as my house is now obviously not safe. Hence the Faraday bag. Set 2 was flat again so as I was going to pick up groceries that night I took it with me in order to get another set of new batteries on the way home at the service station. Supermarket is out of those type of batteries. Set 3 is kept quite some distance from car and not kept near other keys or electrical charges. It too was flat when I went to lock the car so I locked it with the key and tested it to make sure it was locked. Yes. All 3 keys were sent with car and are the original ones.I have been quoted $2000 to rekey them.

Heating...where has it gone ?
Ok so it is now 2.41am. The outside temp is 5.0 C and the temperature gauge is on 80%. The front of the screen is on Hi for drivers side and is blowing some warm air out over my feet. The vents in the front where the aircon is situated are still blowing out cold air. In settings,, the Automatic air conditioning is on and auto clima is set to Smart A/C. Changing to Classic Air I have now turned the Auto up to mid range and everything has gone cold so turned that off and back to the original. Some heat is better than none so I will take what I can get. It is winter after all and not as cold as the UK. I don't have access to the book to change anything else. All good for now. I will just leave it as it is. Thankyou.

Keys that don't stay charged...
Probably because it is no longer a Skoda dealership. In December it became a Suzuki dealership and no information of past purchases is available. Believe me I have tried. I could write a book about my Skoda and all the players involved There are a few of them too. Thankyou guys for all your help tho. .with a dash of sarcasm ..it has been Interesting to say the least ......

Can the doors be locked internally????
What are threads ? I have no idea. I live in my car at present which is why I am asking.

Can the doors be locked internally????
If you are in the car say having a nap or a sleep and the alarm is not reliable, can I lock myself in ? When I am in the car and someone wants to open the passenger door, I have to open my door first. Is it something to do with the other 2 'children' tabs. On the drivers side door?? Thnx for your patience...much appreciated !

Keys that don't stay charged...
Another post on this same issue...am learning a lot along the way but it is like digging a hole with a toothpick !! The keys I was sent were a set of 3 and with all the money spent on the car to ""repair it"" after it was stolen.. the near useless contraption of keys was not included . It costs an extra $2000 to get them rekeyed..... Ahhh... so one of the keys was completely dismantled each piece wrapped in foil and put separately into a Faraday bag bought from a reputable store overseas. That was of no use to anyone . It was a key only to be used in an absolute emergency. It had to be completely restored.and was hidden in a hard to find place. ( They found it when they stripped the car down to put their booty into) The key on the front seat was totally flat and as with all my keys the batteries had to be changed every 2-3 weeks. The last key I used that night to lock the car...with the key.. ppl ĺ as the battery on it was suddenly flat. I had asked about this thru Skoda and no one could give me a clear reason why the keys were so bad. I would understand it if the car was older but it had been a service car. The original car I contracted to buy was a Skoda Scala but someone sold it and offered me this other one. And how bad can a car be in 3years from new ? Just ask me and I will tell you. So I have never had the windows down again. But I really, really hesitate to ask about sniggles in the vehicle. A month ago they checked the alarm and joy it worked. They had the car for 4 hours at the dealership and everything all good but came home and within a week or so everything is back to where it was so obviously this car is not ever going to be fixed. It'll just be a matter of patching it up. And I pray I don't get stuck somewhere out of reach of Skoda Assist !

Jemm
Well, after reading some posts this morning again I realise I am not the only one who has a car that it is contradictory. I did put a post up in 2023 about the windows being down when I went to visit a friend and came out the next morning to find the car full of bugs and creepy crawlies because the car was parked under a tree in the Australian bush and all the windows were open. Had it been summer I could have had Joe Blake as a passenger.(snake) Thank God it didn't rain!

Windows down and car still locked.¿¿
Last year I did a post on this but no one could give me any constructive advice. This morning read a post by a guy in the UK who had issues with this unique little feature of the car. Apparently it is meant to remove the hot air from the car in summer whilst leaving the vehicle locked. So handy im sure in some parts of the globe but totally useless in areas where people steal whatever is easy to grab.

Heating...where has it gone ?
Now the front heater no longer gets warm.Of the 4 vents in the front, 3 of them blow out cold air and the other one opposite the drivers side mirror has enough warm air to fill the car . So to be grateful for small mercies. Our winter this year is particularly cold. Dare I ask ....is it a fuse ?

Just a question or two for all you knowledgeable folk. Was talking to a wreckers recently and he told me he had a 2010 model Octavia and that it didn't have wider tyres as the earlier models had normal tyres. So when did Skoda adopt these more expensive low slung things? Totally impractical for driving on gravel and dirt roads. Here in Australia they are $270 each before fitting. I see a post from a man who bought a car which had 4 different treads. I too had the same problem but when it got stolen I now have 4 Bridgestone. Previous to that it always felt uneven on the road. 2 Turanos, 1 Bridgestone and 1 Excel (?).

Our town at times is full of nice little black cars and when I got down to Woolies they were drag racing up and down the street which on reflection would have killed the alarm or any other noise ...for some reason I have only just thought of that . It didn't seem important at the time... just part of life in our town. So I apologise to you for omitting this detail. Were they there for me or was it just coincidence. because when I came out the street was completely quiet and empty. Re: door handles....A friend told me she spent about 30 minutes of pulling on her handle after leaving the keys in her Kia in a similar situation. {Lastly, possibly a 'spiritual' approach to removing obstacles could have been used too (??) Certainly not unheard of I'm sure.}
