  1. Same thing happened to my Mk3, I only noticed when braking and heard water sloshing around. Do as daftbugger suggested, open door and fiddle with rubber seal.😉
  2. Skoda dealer recommending change . ( But they would do wouldn't they). I just wanted views from Octavia owners.
  3. We have all been there. Not knowing what the best options are. Buying a replacement car will not necessarily mean trouble free motoring. Although a smaller car may be more sensible for your needs. Keeping your Octavia may be the cheapest option , also you know what needs doing now and the history of the past couple of years. personally I've tended to change every four years but these Octavia 's have been so good, I'm going to keep it for a long time. No matter what the costs are. so it's a really personal choice for you. All pros & cons.🤔. Good luck.
  4. Silly me, Octavia 1.5 TSi, ACT, SE L. DSG.
  5. I've been through the threads regarding belt replacement. But I would be grateful for Octavia owners views on when to change belt. My Octavia is now five years old with only 12000 miles. I'm thinking on replacing belt. What advice can you guys offer. Many happy New year motoring to you all.😀
  6. I had similar problems with Dunlop tyres, so changed to Michelin primacy. So far no issues. Also found the ride to be better.
  7. Yes I'm sure your correct. Is it the general consensus that it's safe to run Skoda for more than the five years before replacement.
  8. Can anyone of you with greater knowledge regarding Skoda Octavia Cam belt replacement. I have a 5 year old mk3 with 11000 miles on the clock. It's a 2020 1.5 TSi , dsg. I've been advised by Skoda dealer to replace belt and water pump. I have read the info on this forum but seem non the wiser. I would be grateful for your advice weather it's wise to change of wait a few year, as members have had greater knowledge of running Octavia's. thanks guys. Jeff.
  9. Hi jd52. The cost per month is cheaper than paying separately for servicing, mot,s etc.
  10. I can only comment on my experience , which has so far been positive. Will see how things go over the next 15 months.
  11. I took out a Skoda service plan last year. You get two services, two MoT and breakdown cover. It also gives a warranty for parts but not wear and tear. It's already paid for itself when my Octavia required a new sensor. They even paid for a hire car. This scheme seems really worth while in my view. Would recommend it.
  12. Would you say the mk3 is a better buy than mk4. I deliberately bought the 3 as I was very happy with my previous model.
  13. Mk3 facelift seems to be a bit of a Marmite opinion. I personally like the split headlights. I currently own my second mk3 . Race blue, DSG estate 2020.
  14. Thanks for the info.
  15. Only a few local miles , not every day. Do around 2000 miles a year.
