LED Front Fog lights
I have a tech support query in with Osram for a UK road legal H8 LED fog lamp for a Karaq that doesn't give a CAN bus error. I will post their, hopefully positive, response here. In the meantime look here https://www.ledperf.co.uk/pack-xenon-effects-headlight-bulbs-for-skoda-karoq-p-39549.html BUT read the small print on "off-road use only" and can bus errors. It is a bit of a nightmare also this supplier is in the EU (France).

LED Front Fog lights
As I have only had the car a couple of weeks, since it has been cold and wet and being almost 70, I haven't got into the front wheel arch to confirm if they are LED or Tungsten, they are a yellow-white like the Tungsten bulbs. The thing is, I don't know if that is because they are fog lights, and it is a yellow-white LED or if it is a tungsten bulb. The H8 LED lights come in a range from yellow white to blue white. The problem is due to some strange EU rules (and the UK hasn't changed the rules from when we were in the EU and isn't likely to.) some cars have approved LED lights but on a technicality you can't replace Tungsten with LED unless it is an approved one for that car. IE the sport line? Hence, most of the replacement LED lights having in the small print "for off-road use only" or "not approved". The other problem is the LED bulbs take a lot less current and therefore on the OBD/ECU show up as a lamp error if the car is expecting Tungsten bulb!. So as I would prefer a more powerful whiter LED fog lamp, I am looking for a UK legal LED H8 that won't give a permanent error on the dash. (don't want much, do I ? 🙂) We rarely get fog in the midlands (UK) and a more powerful white light would be more use.

LED Front Fog lights
The fog lights are standard on the Karoq (all models?), but they appear to be tungsten bulbs (unlike the headlight cluster above). I was looking for LED replacement bulbs. The manual explains how to replace the fog lights (but only the fog lights!?!), with some comments on safety with tungsten blubs. However, there are no specs for the lights, any lights, in the manual There are many H8 LED fog lights available, but the small print for a lot of them says they are not road legal😞 They also seem to have different shapes and sizes etc.

LED Front Fog lights
Hi Does anyone know of any UK road legal LED front fog lights for the Karoq? Preferably, ones that don't give an error warning? I can't be the only person wanting to do this?

Karoq pictures
Mine is in the same state and going to have a wash this afternoon! I note that, on mine, like yours the lower door panels seem to attract a lot more dirt than the rest of the car. (It has a Gen-3 coating) BTW I have the OEM Brimstones on 18-inch wheels and I am looking for a good All Weather tyre. Flip-flopping between a Michelin and a Continental at the moment.

New Satnav map available (week 48/2024)
Thanks for that. I assumed week 10 as the update gave week/year (48/3024) rather than month year. It would help if they were consistent! In which case, As I have an October 2024 database and this week 48 update is end of November, is it worth me updating the 29GB of maps, especially as I won't be taking the car out of the UK in the next 12 months? Probably not, I would think. Sorry for the silly questions, I have had Nissan's for the last 30 years, and they last over a decade, So a new 2024 Karoq is a bit of a jump in terminology, technology, and toys 🙂

New Satnav map available (week 48/2024)
Looking at the car it says: "Navigation Database 24.10" Which I assume is 2024 week 10? So I should update it with the "CW 48/2024"? It would help if they kept the naming and version numbers consistent

New Satnav map available (week 48/2024)
Many thanks for that. I was starting to think that was the case. The map file zip is enormous! 29GB!! Not something I would want to do over the car's internet connection.

End of Skoda Connect and the app?
Thanks for that. I would assume (silly I know) for a car introduced in 2018 with a known end date of G3 only 5 or 6 years later they would have put in a G4/LTE module, and certainly done so by the 2022 facelift. Having had a look at the wiring and comms manual, the comms unit is an easily replaceable module, so no reason not to update it if it was G3 only. . My 5-year-old iPhone is G3 and G4. Hopefully the G3 warnings are for the older Å koda models that only had G3 fitted, not the Karoq

End of Skoda Connect and the app?
I hope so. It is just when I renewed the App it said about the G3 shut down and loss of services. However, as my car was made late 2022-2023 (registered April 2024) I assume that as the date for the G3 shut down was well known some time (years?) before 2022 the cars would have a G4/LTE comms module. Any idea how I would find out specifically what is fitted to my car?

End of Skoda Connect and the app?
Apparently, the Å koda Connect app will stop working at the end of 2025 when G3 disappears in Europe. As this has been known about for a very long time, surely there must be a G4 upgrade for the cars? Å koda can't be the only people using G3 for long term comms? I am sure not just many other carmakers but a lot of other equipment will use G3? Does this also mean the SOS button will stop working as well?

Kessy boot/tailgate
Likewise, I have had Nissan's for the last 20 years. My Karoq is a generation (or two?) on from my last new car and has a different "logic" in the manual. I can't find an option to only unlock the two front doors and nothing else which would be useful as it is usually just me and the wife in the car.

Kessy boot/tailgate
Apparently, I was informed by another forum member when I posted the video in a thread on its own, all this is in the manual! There are some limited settings on what unlocks what, but I didn't find the above in my printed manual, I shall have to re-read it. This reminds me of a forum for some video edit SW I use. I asked for a feature to be added, and a dozen people immediately said that would be the worst feature in the world (ever) We were all surprised when someone else posted to say that feature had been added 5 years ago and explained how to find it! To be fair the manual is over 4,000 pages (yes 4 thousand)

(temporary) Deactivation of Kessy
Thanks for that. I am not surprised, but it can be a nightmare digging things out of the manual, assuming you know to look for it in the first place… I certainly missed it as did another owner I sent the link to before posting it here.

(temporary) Deactivation of Kessy
Hi All Sorry if this has been posted before, but how to deactivate the KESSY when you leave the car. (Until you unlock with the button on the remote) Video shows a car in Slovenia, but it also works on my UK 2022/3 Mfr Karoq.

In Settings, you can configure the way KESSY works ALso, you might find this useful

Dash/cockpit rattling
Sounds like a Friday Afternoon Car.... 😞 I usually go for a low mileage main dealer demonstrator. So all the problems, if any, have been sorted.

Wireless charger cooling
I don't think Å koda, or anyone else, can turn it on for you.

Help - Cargo nets
Obviously, I knew that!!!! 🙂 These things are obvious, after someone has pointed them out! Many thanks for pointing it out, It is all becoming clear (bleedin' obvious) now. I do have the Varioflex seats and the mounts are different also the weather the last couple of days is barely above zero. So I am less inclined to stand around outside with the car freezing my nuts off trying to work it out, which I would have done has the weather been warm. My other caveat is this is my first Škoda. I find it takes a while to get into the thinking of the manufacturer, though it is a race against the onset of galloping senility, according to the wife. .

Wireless charger cooling
That is not good! You need to sort out the settings on the phone.

Dash/cockpit rattling
mine too, so far....

Wireless charger cooling
Can you put a non-wireless charging phone in there without it overheating? Don't expect it to charge but it is a useful space to put the phone.

Skoda Connect & 24 hour clock
Thanks. That is what I thought. Still reading the manuals. BTW will she have access to my browser history..... (asking for a friend)

Skoda Connect & 24 hour clock
Just renewed mine at £27 connect and £33 infotainment. Is this per driver or per car? The wife and I both drive and have phones, so can I set her up to the connect on her phone?
