  1. I don't mind the passive aids, but I don't want the active ones like ACC, Lane keeping and the speed limiting by reading the road signs. I don't trust the software.
  2. Hi, Anyone have any idea how to fix this. New (ex main Skoda dealer Demo) car Absolutely no problems using the Sat nav, putting in addresses or navigating, so far all over the UK midlands, but occasionally I get this inthe screen below. I was parked in a shopping area in Tamworth, Staffordshire, UK the Grid Ref is correct but it tells me I am in "England, Deutschland. Any ideas before I annoy the Škoda Dealer
  3. Hi How do I change the Avatar on my prime user? I am sure it is simple but I can't find it in the manual This is a 24MY Karoq SE L with the Amudsen system Yes, I know the screen needs a clean,
  4. The problem is, I think the Karoq is coming to the end of its production life. 😞 The design is from 2015/16 so a decade old, despite face lifts, it is basically the same vehicle. There is no hybrid or electric version and from 2030 no new ICE cars in the EU. (which also means the UK). So the Karoq will be gone as a production car in 5 years. That said, it is likely to hold or increase its value from 2030 🙂 Hopefully mine will last another 10 years on from that, by which time I doubt I will be driving.... I assume velvet red is different from metallic red? Or is it the same thing?
  5. Thanks, I will take a look
  6. There are a few of us 🙂
  7. Thanks for that. I will check. As it happens, it was another family car that broke down, a French one, NOT the Karoq.
  8. I will have to check, but we bought it technically 2nd hand as it was a Dealer demo car. I can't remember if we were given an option but at the time we said we had family RAC cover. Hindsight is a wonderful thing 🙂
  9. I keep seeing this, but when searching for Škoda Karoq pressure sensors (by make-model or Licence number) I get the ones that are part of the valve and transmit pressure. I can't think these would be recommended if they didn't work.
  10. We couldn't even get through to RAC to get a breakdown registered. The only way we could get hold of anyone was talking to sales about joining/renewing. When we said "cancel" they were suddenly very friendly with an instant 40% discount! . So if you are spending money they will talk to you otherwise not. We are going to look at Britannia as we are insured through LV
  11. The wife won't let me drive the Karoq on 2 wheels. 🙂 Wanted to get another motorbike but looking at modern traffic, plus speed bumps and potholes... the dream has faded.
  12. It wasn't for my Škoda we got at the end of November. (technically 2nd hand) The RAC cover was automatically renewed in January. Had we thought about it, we would have cancelled it. The previous cars were 15 and 18 years old. Nissans As we have car, and I am now told home, insurance with LV who do Britannia we should get a good deal on the breakdown cover. We just can't see the point in paying the RAC if you can't get hold of them when you need them. Their automated systems just take you round and round in circles, and you can never get hold of someone. We only did this time because we went of the sales line and said we wanted to cancel the membership. Then they are happy to talk to you about 40% discounts. Just not talk to you when it is getting dark, raining, and you have broken down.
  13. There was mobile coverage. My lad phoned home and two of us were trying. We couldn't get past the "pick a number bingo" going in circles, and on the Saturday didn't ever get to speak to a human. The online, via a computer hard-wired to the Internet didn't get us any further forward. After about 3 hours we gave up. I don't mind having to wait a couple of hours to get an RAC van or recovery truck to us if there is a backlog, but we didn't even get that option, as we simply could not get the breakdown registered in the first place. This was inside normal working hours in daylight in the midlands. This is the first time in a decade we have called the RAC. Even then, the RAC call centre was dodgy. Though the roadside assistance mechanic was great.
  14. After several hours of three of us trying, we gave up trying to get through to the RAC to request assistance. We never did get anything back from the RAC never mind a breakdown registered. Hence, cancelling the membership. EDIT Wife tells me we are insured through LV.....
  15. After 23 years with the RAC they failed us when we needed them at the weekend. , no, not for my MY24 Karoq! This was the first attempt at getting RAC assistance in over a decade and less said the better. We have cancelled the membership. Does anyone have any recommendations for breakdown cover? Though I am wondering with a MY24 Karoq with only 5K miles on the clock if I need it. There is a "call button" by the emergency button next to the mirror. Does Škoda have, or recommend, a break-down service? Can anyone else recommend one other than the RAC?
  16. Well if rubber is out. Does your wife like the smell of leather.... Sorry, wrong conversation 🙂 Seriously, no idea what you can do. We found, not that we could smell them anyway after 24 hours because there was mud and other stuff on them and when you clean them off there is no rubber smell at all. I would not leave rubber mats in the sun as that just seems to make the smell worse, so I have observed over the years for rubber in general. All the other mats I have seen are other forms of plastic or leatherette and seem nowhere near as hard-wearing. You have a conundrum. Good Luck!
  17. I don't think warming them in the sun will help. Try washing them in a scented disinfectant.
  18. I am going for one of these. I have 100's USB drives with USB-A but none with USB-C also most are less than 32GB so it is probably worth getting a 64GB USB-C drive for doing the maps. As they are less than a tenner it is a no-brainer given the amount of time and faffing about with other options
  19. I like the Karoq. It is my Semi retirement car. Previously things like Nissan Primera, Rover 75, BMW3, Before that Fords, Motorbikes, Land-rover but my life was different then. Wife had Nissan Micra and Note. I looked at the Kodiaq but didn't need the extra space over a Karoq. Besides car parks around here are not exactly generous. So I got the SE L with Varioflex seats as I do need to carry a lot of kit in Peli cases at times. Though I don't need 4x4 or off road. Picked up a 6 month old 3K5 millage dealer demo on a good deal.
  20. My problem is that I kept the same Nissan's for about 15-18 years each (over lapping) and it was Company cars before that. So when you say "each generation is something new", my Karoq is about 3 generations on from my last new car.... and the recent generations of cars, in general not just Škoda, have moved quite a way. However I am getting there.
  21. I find it all somewhat confusing, being on my first Škoda (first VW group car of any sort) having had Nissan's for the last 20 years. However, this forum, when you get used to it is a gold mine of information
  22. There are several threads on this subject See here https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/7-audio-electronics-and-security/
  23. Thanks. I will try that, but enough about me. What about the car?
  24. Not a chance. I have just retired and I don't do software any more. 🙂
  25. All the maps for the whole world were posted previously in this thread and people are using them.
