  1. For £14 they seemed like a good idea. It is almost impossible to get things back out of the vents. EG pencils, crayons, sweets, toy cars etc. Especially if you have rubber mats in as stuff rolls more easily. I got them from here https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07C86CGKC?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title, but there are multiple places doing them
  2. Mine, the official Škoda ones, didn't, and they came sealed in a plastic bag. Perhaps I just didn't notice. Also, they certainly don't smell like my BDSM dungeon, but then the slaves do keep it smelling nice......... One other thing I got was the vent covers for the air con there is under the front seats that warm the rear foot wells. They should have been a standard fit, in my opinion. The lip on the rear rubber mats come up to just below the holes. Small stuff rolls around the rubber mats far more easily than carpet. So if you have children or carry stuff in the back, they are worth having. Otherwise, you can get things rolling round in the ducting under the front seats.
  3. Its worth going with the genuine Skoda mats. heavy duty, good fit and a big lip round the edge so you don't get water and mud soaking into the carpets for weeks on end.
  4. I searched for "Škoda G3 Gold" on the Interweb thing and the first couple of links were to this very thread! I found G3 Gold as an item on my digital certificate dated about 3 days before I picked up the car. Only looked at the certificate yesterday. and wondered what it was. We had asked for ceramic coating, as it is well worth it on a new car.
  5. It comes up with an option for videos
  6. I usually start off with good intentions.... However, a busy life. A few months ago I got a new Karoq in Velvet Red and was offered a ceramic coating... I went for that. It doesn't seem to get as dirty and is far easier to jet wash at home. It just needs rinsing and that is it. You don't put wax/polish on a ceramic coating. So once a month is sufficing over the winter. I would recommend ceramic coating on a new car.
  7. Hi All I have a 2023 Karoq SE L with the 8" Amundsen system. How can I play videos on this screen. When I plug in the iPhone via USB-C it can't see any videos. What format should they be? How do I get the car to see them? BTW I do understand that it will only play video on that screen when stationary
  8. Are these locks really still needed? The Karoq is far less of a target than other older cars or high value cars, where it is worth the risk. This is what the stats show (2018-24). The older hatches get stolen (fords, golfs etc) or the high value Range Rovers, Mercs etc. Looking at the Confused.com theft risk calculator, there have only 50 Karoq thefts in the last 7 years! I would bet that is through someone boosting the key fob signal. If the keys are kept in an RFID pouch, keyless entry is forestalled. If they are going to steal the keys then they are going to steal the keys for the lock too Or just wait for you to turn up at the car and unlock it, then take it.
  9. mine is diesel red 🙂 I believe there is a difference between some of the colours and weather they are plain, metallic and special colours. Well with some makes anyway, this was a discussion (in a pub) about ford transits. Apparently they all start out white and then colours are added. No idea how true that is.
  10. I have it on my Digital Certificate. What I think its the Gen 3 Ceramic coating. https://www.gen-3.co.uk/our-range which AFAICS is only available to professional detailer's etc. because it has to be put of carefully and takes 24 hours to cure. it is the preferred system for several UK Brands such as VAG. Ceramic coatings have a 3-7 year warrantee. Most of the petrol-heads I know always have ceramic coating on their cars. Then you never need to wax them, in fact you shouldn't do it. All you use is shampoo and water and you get an "showroom" shine easily. The more important point for me is it protects the paint far better than wax. Reasonable explanation here, all be it the sales patter. https://www.johnsonscars.co.uk/finance/gen-3-glasscoat/
  11. With a starting price of £1/4 million, I would hope so, too. I had mine ceramic coated, which makes a difference to sealing the paint. EDIT, "mine" being a Karoq not a Bentley 🙂 Also, despite being "water based" paint, most modern cars have a 10-year rust warrantee on the panels. Whereas in the past, they didn't with the other types of paint.
  12. Yes, I got it wrong by 40K It looks like they did 109,000 i Karoq's n 2024. So 340K in the previous 6 years by your numbers?
  13. Škoda don't produce the Yeti any more. Also, Škoda are only claiming 109K for the Karoq (I was wrong too) and that is between several plants producing the Karoq. So and the year and plant are determined by other letters in the VIN, as the Škoda information says it is line, year and number for those 6 digits. Four digits can go to 9,999 per line. Multiple lines per plant and multiple plants. As the batch is across 2 years and the year of MFR is a digit then they are only looking at a serial number for 6 months? Especially as they release figures in 6 month blocks.
  14. I am not so sure of that. The information on the VIN says, year, line and number for the last 6 digits. The total number of Karoq's in any year is 15K The VIN also gives in other places the run (across 2 years) and the factory of 4. so less than 10K per factory which only needs 4 digits which would leave for line and 1 for year
  15. Trivia: Not that it should make any difference to this discussion, but it appears Škoda make body panels for other cars in the VAG group... Namely, Bentley!
  16. I looked at the Duster over the last couple of years before got the Karoq and *every* mechanic I knew as a friend said "don't touch them" apparently not the most reliable. They were also saying the same about the Nissan Qashqai over the last 18 months because of the engine. None of them criticized the Karoq as regards engines.
  17. Any way of decoding these? Mine are 112453 The car is a P 22/23 (registered April 24) so I assume a 23 mfr
  18. I suspect is it not user changeable. At least not easily. I.e beyond the scope of most (99%) of users.
  19. Actually it is, but we weren't going to tell you 🙂 On a related subject, I can decode all my VIN except the last 6 digits 112453 which are apparently the "line and year". Ais it is a P which is summer 22 to summer 23 (first registered in April 2024) I wonder if the 112453 (23) or 112453 (3) indicates the mfr year? With other digits the week or month, probably week, and the line.
  20. Says the same for me. So the Škoda Website can't decode Škoda VIN's, but numerous 3rd party websites can....
  21. BTW if you are going to get rubber mats in the back it is worth getting one of these covers for the tunnel in the back. Especially if you have [grand]children or old people in the back. Also, the proper Škoda mats fit exactly and have a raised lip round the edge that stops mud and liquid coming off the mat and onto the carpet. You don't want to find that after the winter you had a damp soggy mess under the mat for the last few weeks/months
  22. I can recommend both. Which is no help at all. When the weather is bad, ie the winter months, we use the rubber mats. Especially as we have to pick up grandchild from school and she is a mud magnet. When the weather is dryer IE the summer we use the carpet mats. On the whole, we don't keep swapping it is rubber in the winter, carpet in the summer.
  23. As a poor pensioner on a limited income. 5 days after we got our new Karoq we put our Granddaughter in the car with carpet mats....... We went out and bought a full set of Škoda mats. (and the one for the tunnel in the back) When the weather improves or the snotty child, sorry, delightful granddaughter isn't needing picking up from school we will go back to the carpet ones.
  24. Hi as the title says: What is the spec for video to play on 2023 Mfr Karoq with Amundsen I understand that it will only play when the car is stationary. However, it does not recognize any videos on my phone when connected via USB on Apple CarPlay
  25. None at all but ask anyway as you have nothing to loose. On a roll of the dice you may get an acceptable deal.
