  1. Thank you, that's good to know. I'll keep a close eye on it for a while.
  2. I have just replaced the coolant tank and lid on my 2012 superb elegance. They are Febi Bilstein items and were recommended as good quality. I am concerned that the cap does not click closed when tight as it did on the old tank. It just tightens hand tight and the threads seem fine. I tried the new cap on the old tank and it does click closed so the issue is with the new tank. Is this a problem or is the cap OK hand tightened without clicking? Any help appreciated.
  3. Yes that's it in a nutshell. It's a difficult and costly job to replace it due to it's location. It can be "mapped out" with the software on a laptop. My mechanic did it and put a stage 1 remap on at the same time, improving the torque and increasing the bhp to 195. Car drove more responsive and great high end power for overtaking if needed. Just gives you the confidence to know it's there.
  4. I have a 2012 Elegance 2.0 170bhp saloon. I bought the car 10yrs ago with 50k miles on it. It now has 207k miles. It has been the best car I have owned. I have it serviced every 12k miles. Got timing belts and water pump at 80k and 160k. The egr valve failed a couple of years ago and due to the cost of repairing it I had my mechanic blank it and map it out. Anything else over the years has been the expected brakes, rear shocks and ball joints and abs sensor. Does 50 plus mpg on average with a mixture of driving. It is still on the original clutch. I have thought about changing to a later facelift Mk2 but I cannot justify it as it would probably be little, if any, better. My mechanic looks after a few of these and one is a taxi with 350k miles and going strong. If the car you are looking at has decent bodywork and interior, no warning lights on the dash with a full service history I would say it's a bargain.
  5. Definitely not the same as mine then. I will get the tie rods checked.
  6. Is it like a sharp metallic crack when turning slowly at full lock or turning the steering wheel when stationary. Is it more noticeable in dry weather?
  7. Good to hear. My 2012 Elegance has 206, 000 miles without any major issues and still on original clutch. It is serviced every 12,000 and still a great car, I have no reason to change it. Happy motoring.
  8. I think you were sensible rather than the Amazon item. They are a good seller and quick delivery and you know it is the right part. Also a great price.
  9. There is a difference in the part for each wheel. This is the sensor I bought for mine on Ebay. https://ebay.us/m/ek29H2
  10. Hopefully it's just the sensor. The abs ring on the hub can also be worn causing the same fault to show. There is a bit more involved in replacing it. Might be best to just have it fully checked at the service.
  11. I had the same thing with my 2012 Elegance. Turned out to be the rear speed sensor. Bought one off Ebay and 10mins fitted it. No problems since.
  12. Please take this the right way if you fitted the replacement bulbs yourself, but are you sure they were fitted correctly? It just seems odd that the headlight was operating OK with the dim bulb (which is to be expected if it was original) and the issue has arisen since the first replacement. If you do need a headlight it needs to be for a R/H drive vehicle, doesn't matter whether it's UK or Ireland and first place I'd be looking is a car breakers. The point I did pick up from your post is the bulb type, I'm assuming there is a difference with the facelift model. Mine is a 2012 Elegance and I changed both bulbs last year due to loss of brightness, they are D1S.
  13. Got the update done, all went well. Thanks @pab567 As I had read, updating the software has wiped the maps and now asks to insert maps DVD. I believe the last version is v17? I went online and checked a couple of sat nav stores who list the DVD but their last reviews were about 10yrs ago so I am wary. Can anyone recommend a trusted current supplier of the DVD? Many thanks.
  14. Great, last question, does ignition need to be on or car running?
  15. Thank you so much, I'll get my son on to it Are there any instructions on how to install this?

  17. Just realised this should be in the Superb forum. Please ignore and I will repost in the correct forum.
  18. Hello all. I have joined the forum after I found it while searching Google. I have owned my 2012 Superb Elegance for 10yrs and it has just turned 200 000 miles with no major issues, even still on the original clutch. It has been the best car we have owned in my 40yrs of motoring. Looking forward to being part of the forum. Pat.
