  1. Do you have the 1.0 tsi? VW independent confirmed it was the wastegate rattle but mentioned no clip exists for my engine?
  2. Hi all, Recently picked up a 2017 1.0 TSI. Every time I start the car there’s a noticeable ticking/rattling noise that lasts around 45 seconds then stops completely. Happens on every start, not just cold. Car runs perfectly once warm with no issues at all. Has anyone experienced this on the 1.0 TSI EA211 engine? I’ve read it could be the Turbo actuator rod linkage? Car was serviced by Skoda main dealer a month ago. Any experience or advice appreciated. Video link of said noise: https://youtube.com/shorts/pBGRrwfQSAI?is=gnNJCRI89wmO1Dvm Thanks
  3. Agree the exahust is nice and fruity - suits the character of the car perfectly. Enjoy your new car!
  4. On a side note, has anyone experienced a beep noise when the tailgate has fully opened? I assume it thinks it's hit something? When fully opened, I manually dragged it down a few mm and then pressed & held the boot close button for 5 seconds until I heard another little beep. It fixed the issue initially, but it still happens intermittantly.
  5. The bird thing is funny, and completely true for me. This is the only car I've driven where a bird has flown straight into the front bumper, and I have near misses with others daily. How strange!
  6. What’s the difference in mpg? Are you comparing like for like driving conditions and weather? I would suspect a (marginal) drop on motorway runs, but no difference around town. Bit more importantly, well done for removing the inserts 👏
  7. VED is excluded, but delivery charge is included. Assuming reg fee of £55 (excluded from calculation), I make that £405 over.

  9. They seem pretty rare from what I can tell. I’ve only seen 1 other in 6 months. I even waved, but got nothing back ☹️ I like you kept under the £40k. Mind you speccing DCC will take you over this. My dealer found me a UK stock with a hefty discount. This was back mid last year. There’s also a few members on here waiting for a delivery, so potential to get a community going. Another good review from the continent: https://youtu.be/O5Y4sgmNTCA?si=1xsFFi5e4CEb28iE
  10. 😂😂 Welcome to the fold. It's a good shout. I think we can start up a specific thread for 4.5 VRS owners (there's one that exists already) to kick start this. There are a few of us on here from what I've seen. For context, this forum is 100x better than the Audi RS forum I was on previously, which saw 1 reply every 3 months. I guess the only other place is FB, but most owners have previous gen cars. When are you looking to buy, and what specs?
  11. Welcome. How did you get on with the viewing?
  12. There's also this link which has the manual for you to print. However it doesn't have an updated one for the 4.5: https://manual-directory.com/cars/skoda/octavia/
  13. Hello mate, i've not tried it myself, but usually you need to turn off traction control as well. Then, hard press on brake, slam the accepelrator to the floor quickly and off you go.
  14. This happens to me intermittantly and am wondering the same! Although I haven't left it on long enough to know if it drops down to a lower level automatically, as I turn it down instantly with a finger slide.
  15. There’s no exhaust valve on the 4.5. Exhaust character in Sport is controlled by the ECU rather than a flap.
  16. Got my eye on a Garmin mini 3 for a clean, low key install via rear view mirror usb. Spent a ton of money on a thinkware 4K webcam hardwired to fuse box on the RS4 … this will be a much cheaper install!
  17. Mud flaps installed. Happy with the look and hopefully they do their job when driving around the local country roads
  18. Hi and welcome. Good luck with your search.
  19. 3K miles into my 4.5 VRS and infotainment screen hasn’t missed a beat (touch wood). Very easy to use once you know where are all the settings are. I predominantly have it on car play and it works great. My ritual when I start the car is to turn off lane assist (2 quick clicks on the steering wheel) and auto start / stop (1 button on screen). No biggie as takes no time to do. I actually keep the speed warning on. I find the sound non-obtrusive and it’s actually a good reminder for when I go over. That said, very easy to turn off via steering wheel if required. It’s a lovely car and is a huge step up from a Mark 3. Do it!!
  20. Agree with the above. No desire to remap as I’d like to keep my 3 year warranty intact. Plus, not that interested in 0-60 launch control as 1) my GSD isn’t a fan and 2) I simply don’t feel the need. I’ve owned plenty of (very) fast cars, but there’s something nice about the VRS offering usable power for UK speed limits. My only ‘mods’ planned are mud flaps, roof rails and a dash cam. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to read the paper in my slippers and lean into my inner retiree.
  21. Merlin purple vibes. Looks fabulous. Drive in good health.
  22. My car was available as stock at the time, and my dealer did an incredible cash deal on it. They knew I wanted zero options to keep road tax under the £40K limit, so bear in mind any options you select will cost you a lot more over your term than just their quoted price. My RS4 was specced to the heavens. The only option I kind of miss is a heated steering wheel, but not a deal breaker. My must haves are fitted as standard (ACC, heated seats, rear camera, auto high beam assist and sports exhaust). Living in the countryside I’m surrounded by bumpy b-roads. The stock suspension is absolutely fine even with tyres at 39psi, and not once have I felt it’s uncomfortable. The stock speakers aren’t great and I may replace with focals at some point, but not a priority at the moment. My GSD rides comfortably in the boot. I got a custom boot mat made for £55 that’s fits perfectly. Assuming you’ll have a separate boot liner so check if this doesn’t make the boot net option redundant. MPG improving with age. My 50 mile motorway trip this morning returned 48mpg idling at 65mph for most of it. Mixed driving you’ll see 35 mpg ish. Not sure if it’s an option, but would love a larger fuel tank. Colour - always a personal preference. The VRS needs a colour IMO … you’ll appreciate it when you drive past the sea of whites, greys and blacks on the roads. But don’t overthink the colour, just get the best deal possible and start driving the damn thing asap.
  23. Bosch website suggests the A335 for the rear: https://www.boschwiperblades.com/xc/en-gb/basic-page.html/-/en-gb/478dafb54dab9771f6adabf9705fe54dd0d454ee/period_4277_2964_07_2022_12_9999/SKODA_OctaviaIVEstate_2022
  24. H10 2630, non canton with no dropout issues.
