  1. Just come back from Meaden's in Brockenhurst attempting to order a new Octavia Hatchback 2.0TSi DSG specced up to the eyeballs to just below L & K spec. mainly because I didn't want Kessy or electric seats. No deal - Skoda not taking any factory orders and only 2.0TSi DSG 4 X 4 Estate is available in the spec I want - nothing else being built - gearing up for Mk. IV I suppose. I did mention that I would be happy to take the 4 X 4 at the price my SE L spec. sheet said but, strangely, the salesman wasn't interested.
  2. If I order a new Octavia in the next few weeks and the delivery is not scheduled until after our alleged departure from the European Union is it likely that the deal will be honoured at the price the dealer and I have agreed - does anyone know the rules if the price is forced up outside of Skoda's control?
  3. I don't know if this is a common problem but I have it too on the (for the UK) driver's side on a November 2017 1.5 TSi DSG. Still got a few years on the warranty yet do not too worried.
  4. I have a hunch that only right hand drive cars have both fog lights as Skoda provide more cars for the left hand drive market than they do right hand drive so only fit the extra fog light to the right hand drive models and code out the bulb not legally required for the UK. I could be wrong but there have been comment on here that some cars notably left hand drive do not have the right hand (nearside) bulb fitments installed.
  5. A genuine cable supplied by "Ilexa" in the UK as a Ross-Tech UK business partner. Suitable for Octavias up to Mk III but doesn't access all controllers on the face-lifted Mark III model. If this cable ever came with an installation CD I no longer have it and have installed the software on several lap-tops with the software available on the Ross-Tech website. I have used this cable for all the "tweaks" on my signature and also changing my HBA threshold settings which I would put in my sig. but forum rules won't let me. I have now cracked how to do this so all tweaks are on my sig. It allows unlimited VIN's as far as I know - it is a dis-continued cable and was in production pre VIN limiting. I have used it on three different vehicles and it wasn't bought with any mention of the number of VIN's. It works on my lap-top with the latest VCDS 18.9 software release. On my laptop - a Dell XPS - I needed to disable " Core Isolation" in Windows 10 (Settings/Update & Security/Windows Security/Device Security/Core Isolation) to install the Ross-Tech USB drivers. I'm looking for offers around £150. Best offer secures.
  6. My HBA works brilliantly and is far faster than me at dipping. I'm so impressed that yesterday I lowered my HBA thresholds to on above 15mph and off below 5mph. To the Wanderer my opinion, for what it's worth, is dump the VRS which is trying to make the Skoda something it ain't and get decent quality ride in an SEL or L & K. Good choice of colour though.

    VCDS 18.9

Solved by Ross-Tech Forum. Un-installed everything Ross-Tech - on my laptop - disabled "Core Isolation" from "Windows Security" within settings re-installed and was up and running within minutes. I now have my HBA coming on at speeds above 10mph and off at speeds below 5mph.
  8. I did all the VCDS mods as per my sig. using VCDS 18.1. with a genuine HEX-USB+CAN cable on my 2017 Octavia SEL 1.5TSi DSG. Today I wanted to change the threshold of the high beam activation but let VCDS update before I started. Now all I get is Ross-Tech USB Interface Not Found USB Library Version 03.02.07. I am running Windows 10 and Ross Tech offer a work around which doesn't work for me so before emailing them does anyone else have this problem?
  9. About 10 years ago I had a tow bar supplied and fitted to a 1.9 Ambiente by a Skoda dealer and it cost about £550. So if it's only £600 now that sounds a good deal.
  10. My 67 plate 1.5TSi DSG does remember the mode settings - I just wish it would also remember the last setting of the "stop/start" button - but that's another topic. Good choice of model and colour johnmb.
  11. I found my 2016 2.0TDi SEL Estate noisy and less smooth so I fitted a 2017 1.5TSi SEL to my driveway and have a much quieter car.
  12. Nothing against 19" wheels but hate the Xtremes - so ugly - what the hell does anyone like about them?
  13. The downloader does work; it's just very slow - un-pack the zip to you SD card and wait a few hours. Why can't the process be simple? - this is Skoda - simply clever!
  14. My Columbus updated 2018/19. No option to chose which maps to download. All this crap on the portal about turning off lights etc. What rubbish. I unlocked the car, bunged in the USB Stick as I didn't have a FAT 32 formatted SD Card available. Locked up the car again and buggered off. Came back about 40 minutes later. Switched on the infotainment as it had timed out with no engine running and sat in the car whilst the last 15% downloaded.
  15. Downloading my maps now - now where did I put that copy of War & Peace?
  16. That's a deal breaker then. If I can't belt along at 150+mph down my local Hampshire by-ways then I ain't buying the car.
  17. Definitely get this. It is totally pointless but quite good. I have it for no other reason than I like it. Has to be ordered at the time of ordering or soon after. Suggest you check with your dealer whether it can be added.
  18. Mk 2 no replacement screen - mk 3 one - mk 3 facelift 1. Both stone chips - both times I saw the stone coming and just had to watch the damage done - luckily last one was able to be repaired.
  19. I don't want to hi-jack this thread but I want to use the earth for the 12 socket pictured for my rear view cam but how does the socket come out? I have another 12 volt socket wired from the fuse box behind the glove box running the wire hidden to the rear but can't find a suitable earth - at the moment I using the shopping bag mounting screws but it looks 'orrible.
  20. This was when I selected 16 inch wheels as an option. You then have to select all weather tyres and then the message flashes up.
