Not worth considering the 4.4 V8?

TBH I've been looking for a well specced 3.0i six but swmbo is wanting a V8.

Not really for what it is tbh. 3.0i is pointless and doesn't return much better mpg than the  bigger v8s

I'm seriously considering one of these next. I'm looking at the petrol engines because the annual millage is low. How are you getting on with yours?

Just use and abuse it these days, carries the bike and pulls the horsebox with ease. Just ready for an oil change and thermostat but other than that it's all good

  3. Good write up that and cheers for the info.

I ended up going 2nd hand and getting a lapierre as 2nd hand specs where much better for the money this time, although if anyone's looking on the bike to work scheme the 'calibre bossnut v2' from go outdoors gets rave reviews and comes in at a grand.

  4. Not a lot happening with this, still not cleaned it just been using and abusing to carry my bike about.

No freedom anymore so can't add pics but I've fitted roof bars and a couple of bike carriers and have to use a stool but it's all good :D

Just thought i would post an update having done some 'Proper Trails' recently i would have to say that they need to reclassify the Kitchener trail at Pines from

Red to Blue. I used to think it was technical but i had no frame of reference. Now however having done some natural trails near Ambergate / Matlock which

are very technical in comparison and some man made trails near Sheffield called Lady Cannings Cooking on Gas and Blue Steel etc. Its dangerous to

have so much disparity between red classified routes. Any novice going from Sherwood Pines to another Red Route will have a big shock because

there really is nothing on the Kitchener trail remotely testing to anything other than a complete novice. There is one rock drop but even that has a

bypass. Anyone who fancies a guided run around the Kitchener trail be more than happy to meet up in near the visitor centre. Its not the easiest thing

    to navigate.

Lady cannings is on my to do list. Tried the trail at glapwell the other day for something different but it's only 1.5 miles long so not really worth the drive out tbh :(

  6. It doesn't give much detail on the Halfords site about the brakes tbh, I'll look into it a bit more.

Still undecided and got a few more places to visit and see what deals are about first before I commit.

There's not a great deal out there for the same money with the spec it seems.

  7. Evening folks.

Work have just advertised that they are doing the bike to work scheme so I'm looking for a full sus bike.

After being spoilt using my brothers lapierre I'm looking for something with rear lockout and in budget (£1000) this is all I can find.

Anyone had or know anyone with one that can give an honest review or k ow of a site that does reviews?

I'm not expecting it to be the best but need to know it'll handle the trails ok.

  8. New key (supposedly) when I picked the car up in Jan has all of a sudden stopped working.

    Decided to inspect the internals......

I'm assuming the little bit stuck to the paper and should be soldered to the ports circled are what'

     Causing the issue!

I'm sad to see you've sold it, was enjoying the updates. But if someone came and made me a good offer I wouldn't hesitate to sell it haha.

I was enjoying the car tbh but the offer was to good to refuse seeing as it only stood me at £300.

I could definitely do with some more like that :D

  10. New screens in as the old one was cracked halfway along right in the line of sight.

Couldn't wait to source new hubs for the 312 upgrade calipers & carriers I've got as the old ones are near on metal to metal it seems. Fitted new discs and pads which should have been straight forward, took it for a blast to test them and nothing!

Came back, wheels off checked everything all ok so off to test again and still nothing.

Scratched head, had a brew and had a look on Google. Checked all vac hoses seemed ok, started the car and heard a hissing noise.

    Found the little f@#$%¥ :D

Luckily found some hose up to the job in the garage so all good again.

Yeah mate, the hubs come up cheap on eBay and at breakers tho. You've already got the expensive part haha.

That's what I'm going to be putting on mine in the next month so i can get these sold.

I'll keep an eye out for some hubs then for a future upgrade.

I'll just throw some new standard discs & pads on for now

Nice I've just put my 312's on, you'll need to source some hubs for your 312's the standard caliper/carriers on the PD100's are integrated into the hubs.

I only use forums a lot because I don't have Facebook.

My wheels are going up for sale soon, if you're interested send me a pm and i will try get you pictures. Found some other wheels I really want haha.

Ahh really. I may not bother this time then as I don't wanna be spending money I don't need to just yet. If i decide to keep it as a 2nd car then i may look into it, they were free so ill keep them in the garage.

Just gonna throw some tt 6 spokes on it for now as they can be had for £100 with tyres I've seen so keeps cost down.

Full FIS clocks that's a nice extra to have. I had the exact same issue with my temp gauge and did the same as you're planning, new genuine thermostat and genuine coolant temp sensor also gave the coolant a good flush through and filled with new stuff. It says you have to remove the alternator to get at the thermostat in these but you can just manage to get to the thermostat housing bolts without removing the alternator.

Get yourself into UKMKIVS loads of information on their.

I've looked at a few YouTube vids and it doesn't look to bad tbh, it's booked in next sat for a new screen so that's another tick off the list.

Mates giving me some vrs 312 calipers and carriers just need to order discs and pads and then it's about there.

I'm on ukmkivs but don't tend to use it much, the mk4 golf forum fb page is ok for little bits but I just tend to use Google or YouTube if I need to.
