Ordered my L&K diesel on 4th October and picked it up last Thursday. Goes like a dream and the CR engine is very sweet and willing and I was very surprised by the excellent fuel consumption with a new, tight engine. Only done just over 100 miles and it's showing around 55 mpg on a normal run.
By the way and just for the record, on the FL version (well mine anyway) there is no rocker switch at the end of the right hand stalk and the MFD is accessed by pressing the 'back' button (similar to the symbol on the 'enter' key on a keyboard) on the right hand side of the steering wheel with the ignition on, but engine not running. The wheel on right side of steering wheel is used to scroll through the various information when you're driving.

Hi all, like many others on this forum I am avidly awaiting my lovely new Octi.L&K so have been trawling through the threads. One thing has started to worry me and that is this wheel alignment issue. Iget the impression that the dealers can`t be trusted to ensure that the alignment is correct prior to delivery would that be correct? How big an issue is this? if i take to a tyre outlet to get it done will that have warranty issues? Any advice would be helpful Thanks!
From trawling all the information off this Site an this subject, I have come to the conclusion that this issue only affects those cars with sports suspension, but I may be wrong. My first Octavia was an Elegance 1.9 diesel, but fitted with sports suspension and apart from the bloody awful ride it suffered from alignment problems, but my present car is an L and K with standard suspension and no problems and that's why I'm picking up a new L & K this week.

UPDATE - My Octy ordered Oct 4 and built during week 7. It's now at the dealers and I pick it up Weds or Thurs this week.

Probably from the tyres. There is a known issue regarding tracking that scrubs the tyres and is noisier on some brands of tyre than others. Do a search on the forums, there's plenty of info. out there.

I think it would be more useful on the passenger side, but probably wasn't considered by Skoda because they build a lot more left hand drives.

Very shortly the Government will be bringing in a system similar to road tax whereby the car has to be insured even if it's kept off-road, unless a 'SORN' type declaration is made. I don't know what that will do to catch non-insurers because most of them don't register the car in their own name.

My hatch was hopefully, built last week, also ordered in October and the dealer said 2 to 3 weeks for delivery, so hopefully I'll get delivery the 2nd or 3rd week of March. He also said that he would check this week to make sure that it had been built, but heard nothing from him yet .....................

I always slip it into 'N' when stopped at lights, I think it may prevent some drag on the transmission, but I may be wrong. You can then set the handbrake and take your foot off the pedal so as not to blind the driver behind with your brake lights.

I might think about altering the way you ask the question. What I think they can do is effectively 'pre-register' the car against an 11-plate, ready for use on March 1st. As I see it that would qualify you under the terms of the deal. Pre-register is the wrong term really; 'register ahead of time' would seem more accurate.
I go back to my VW analogy from this week - that car cannot be used by the 1st owner until March 1st, the date for which an 11-plate can legally be driven on the road. But it already has it's assigned 11 registration. That equates to me as the dealer doing their bit and 'registering' the car with the DVLA, as they now have a full and proper 11-registration to use with that car.
DVLA issue dealers with a list of registration numbers a few weeks before the turn over date in order that they can be allocated to vehicles in time for collection on 1st March. They then have time to allocate numbers, have plates made up and fitted to the relevant cars so that there isn't a 'last minute rush' when customers are waiting to take delivery. The details are then communicated to the DVLA together with all the relevant details of the associated vehicle.
Incidentally, I ordered an L and K diesel on 4th October and is on build week 7 ( this week). So just right for the new registration.

There was an issue with the radios in early mark 2's. AFAIK it kept drawing current when the engine was off and ignition key removed and hence flattened the battery, so there was a recall and the programming was updated. Maybe this car missed the recall......

Also check for leaks from the rear washer supply pipe. They can come apart, especially in freezing weather and fluid can get into the sensor control box and knacker it.

Ordered L&K, CR, DSG, front parking sensors, blue at beginning of Oct. First told week 16, then dropped to week 3 and then build week removed, but told yesterday that the new build week is week 7 - the week after next. So here's hoping things stay on track.

If it helps, I've got an LandK with an audience radio and front and rear sensors work on that, but I've got no experience with the swing radio, so sorry if that doesn't help.

Diesel DSG ordered on 4 October, originally given BW16, then changed to BW3 and then BW removed altogether. A new BW has not been issued yet!!!

I've got parking sensors on my L&K and I wouldn't be without them AND I've got them on the front as well. Some say that having them on the front is a waste of time and money, but I don't think so - saved my front end from no end of scratches and scuffs especially in tight parking areas.

The problem with seat covers is the side airbags!
In the sides of the seats I imagine. I was advised against this for the same reason when I had a Toyota.

Well yeah, but there's usually an excess of road signs! I was a bit surprised when I came up to the ford and thought to myself, "well, what do I do here then!?"
If you've got to think about it, turn round and go back.

The main problem with trying to cross a fast flowing stream, is that most cars have a certain buoyancy in deepish water (for a short time anyway) and the weight only has to come off the wheels to a small degree for the flow of water to take over, and away you go!!

Ordered a new diesel on October 4th. Initially given week 16, but then changed to week 3 and I thought yippee, but now it has no build week - frustrating isn't the word!!

Ordered a diesel L and K hatch on 4th October and got build week 16 on 2nd December, but by 13th December this had changed to build week 3. Dealer is checking this week for any more changes, if any.
Edit: Now there's no build week listed.

I've had two diesels with a third on order and I really love the DSG gearbox. I've never had any issues although it does hesitate for a second or two as you pull away on roundabouts, but I have read on here somewhere that it's confined to the diesels and the petrols should be OK.
At the lights I usually slip it into neutral to give the clutches a rest, although I believe the clutches disengage when stationary and foot on brake.
Reverse parking is a doddle - you can leave the car creep on it's own, keep your foot over (not on) the brake pedal and concentrate on being the perfect parker.
If you specify you want 'hill start' then pulling away on a hill is simple, but you must leave the drive in 'D' for this to operate. After taking the foot off the brake the car is held for about two seconds whilst you move to the hot pedal and away you go.
There is no sensation or noise at all when engaging 'D' or 'R', but you must have your foot on the brake to do either otherwise the lever won't move. Gear changes are smooth and almost imperceptible and the same applies when using the manual mode.
Hope that helps a bit

It certainly sounds like fuel starvation, is it petrol or diesel?

I think that in these days of rabid litigation, Skoda are covering their butts just in case 'something happens' even though it may have nothing to do with the 'space saver wheel'.

Exchanged my Octavia for the latest 'face lift' model and was dealt with throughout by Paul who kept me informed of the progress of the order from start to finish. He was very courteous and efficient and sorted out a small change to the order that I requested and although from ordering to picking up the motor was over five months due to Skoda's notorious backlog, I was very pleased with the overall service I received from the dealer.
