  1. Looking at your display it shows an S in the top left, do you the DSG? Thought it was only available with the 1.4 TSI?
  2. Seems like the folk at Diesel Car and Motortorque both love the car, they seem to accept it for what it is rather than comparing to car costing 3 pr 4 times as much. If you compare any car to one costing so much more then you are bound to dislike it.
  3. Looks good. I have an old Passat Estate at present (new arrival forced the need for a larger car) however he Rapid is growing on me
  4. Ooo Iike that. Wasn't thinking if a new car but now? Especially with current 0% PCP deals I miss my yellow mk1 Fabia VRS, this could be an economical family oriented replacement. Hmm
  5. I got my Rainsport 2's from Kwik fit would you believe? They wanted abot £110 per tyre and I told them where to go as I could get them much cheaper than that. They price matched the £70 I found them for online - all they asked for was a print out of the on-line price as proof). So the price went from £110 down to £70 within 2 minutes - job done That £70 was including fitting, balancing and new valve and it only took them a couple of days to get them in.
  6. Hi, I was just wondering if you got to the bottom of this problem? I've just got a 06 plate VRS and have the exact same symptoms - spoke to the dealer who said they knew what I was talking about but could'nt do anythuing about it as it was a characteristic of the engine  So it would be good to know how you got on?
  7. Nope next tyre on the list is the correct "W" rated ones which are bizzarely £1 cheaper at the previously mentioned £70 http://tyremen.myshopify.com/products/205-45r16-83w-uniroyal-rainsport-2 I got 4 of the correct 205/45ZR16 83W Rainsport 2's fitted, balanced, new valve and old tyres disposed of all for £280! :p From Kwik-Fit
  8. It's a bit on the expensive side is it not. When I was thinking of a new VRS I'd managed to get a £1000 discount of the price and that was before I really started to haggle. Never found out how much I could have got off as decided to buy the 06 plate VRS they had instead and wait to see if they manage to squash the 2.0 CRtdi engine it as Seat have with the Ibiza
  9. I think it was tyremen £70 each + delivery. But I got them from my local Kwik-Fit branch who matched the £70 price (including fitting) so worked out even cheaper .
  10. After much debating, researching and head scratching I finally decided that I wanted the Rainsport 2's for my car, going with the standard spec 205/45R16 83W. The 2 rear ones were a bit perished (orginals i think) and the front 2 were different brands and 1 of them had chunks out of the sidewall (previous owner). It seems that this tyre is either a strange and uncommon tyre or either that Unyroyal has had a huge demand as they are like hens teeth to get hold of. Been trting all the usuall on-line places and even a few I have access to at work, but very few fold actually had them in stock. I finally found them for £70 a tyre which i thought was not too bad, but had to add delivery and even then I'd either have to pay someone to have them fitted or do it myself (not to keen on that one - too much of the canny be bothereds about me just now). I was looking around on here and someone reccomended to give Kwik-Fit a try as they sometime price match. As you can imagine I didn't hold out much hope, but I gave it go none the less. Again I was met with the not got them in stock, etc etc. Eventually he said to let him check with suppliers and he'd call me back. Eventually he called me back and said that they are on back order from Unyroal but one another branch was showing some in stock!! The price - wait for it - £99 per tyre + £10 fitting. Yes that's right £110 per tyre When I started laughing he asked what was so funny, I told him it was the price he'd quoted. I told him I could get them on-line for £70 each and he said he'd match it. So I ordered them and he called yesterday to say they had arrived and to bring the car in whenever suited me, so I took the car in to get done right away. 30mins the car was done and the cost was £280! RESULT I'd expected him to still charge for fitting, balancing and new valve but he'd included that in the pricematch So how happy am I? the car feels fabulous again much more planted and I got the tyres fitted for the same price as supply only on-line. So even though they are normally not 1st choice, do your homework and see if you can save a bit with them too. I'll certainly be trying them again next time I need tyres (which will hopefully be a long time off).
  11. Ive just bought an 06 plate VRS and paid £7000. It has 38500miles, 6 disc changer and Xenons I did get a years Skoda Warranty with recovery too.
  12. Yeah my sentiments exactly! I'd like to find out for sure before I take the plunge, I'd hate to be stuck in a finance deal for a car with a duff engine that the warranty won't fix 'cos I'd used the wrong fuel I'd like to think that as it has both on the cap then it must be possible to run it on either without damaging anything. Also when the old diesels used to carbon up all we did was give them a good thrashing to clear them out, would the new 1.4TSI not react in a similar way? How are you finding you new VRS Jammydodger?
  13. I've been for a test drive and I love the new VRS. Great fun to drive, will blow most things out of the way but also happy to just potter around if your in a can't be arsed sort of mood. The only downside is the price. I'm trying to find ways of justifying that sort of outlay for a fabia (and trying to come up with ways of finding the money too ). I've been reading lots of posts on here and in various other sources and one thing that concerns me is that that inside the fuel cap it says 98/95 RON? Does this mean it needs to be filled with uber expensive Super Unleaded and can only use Regular Unleaded in extreme cases i.e. when you can't get Super, or can you use either? Why does it have both? If it can only be run on Super Unleaded then I think it'll be too expensive to run for me :(
