  1. It will reset after you reconnect it an turn the ignition on for about 1 minute.
  2. I have fitted the michelin ones about 4 months ago and they're begging for a replace. I dont know if it's the wheather here (22-36 *C all year) or just low quality product.
  3. Todo bien hasta ahora. Things are fine around here. Como dije antes, es mejor esperar hasta que deje de tirar pedazos de esponja a desarmar el tablero.
  4. It has happened to me, but i just waited until it stopped (like a month or 2). The sponge is behind the dash in the foot air duct, in order to get there yo will have to take off the dashboard, glove box and the center console. To me it was easier to wait until it stopped than taking apart half car.
  5. Nope. It's old model venturi type. The oil was in the intake port, also the intake manifold (plastic one) was damaged because of backfires. I just replaced it with the aluminum one from a 2.0 engine and it's running like charm now. I think the next step is to take the head off and see what i find. By the way, thank you all for the reply.
  6. I'd check the fuel pump housing (under the rear seat), i've had replaced 2 in the last few months.
  7. I don't know about the Fabia, but in the Octavia you're capable of making it lock after 20KM/H and unlock when you get the key off the switch.
  8. I took off the intake manifold today and found out the No. 2 Cylinder has a LOT of oil burnt deposits. It makes me think, could it may be that cylinder not having a good seal at the intake valve and that is causing the smoke, or i'm barking at the wrong tree. Of course, assuming that the valve seals are blown. Oh, i forgot to mention, i'm running on propane for almost 6 months now.
  9. As said before you need 5X100 (Octavia MK1) instead of 5X112 (Golf MK5). If i was you i wouldn't be messing up with the offset, as it'll f**k up your handling.
  10. Will do that and let you know the results. Thanks.
  11. Hi, It's an Octavia 2000 1.6 AEH Engine with 118,000 KM on the clock, I have been experiencing some strange problems lately. When i first start the car in the morning it runs fine, but when it gets warm it starts so smoke slightly, when it's idling smokes a lot, specially when the engine is loaded (A/C on, lights, etc.), also there is a lot of oil in the intake manifold, behind the throttle body. I'm using 15-w40 oil which is appropriate for my country. (Dominican Republic) I did a compression test today and all the cylinders read between 140-150 PSI. Looks fine to me. I'm thinking maybe the valve seals are gone. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks. Jonathan.
  12. I bought mine from ebay and had no problems, and if you can get it working with the shareware version of VAG-COM you can buy a license from ross tech for US$99.
  13. Thanks man. I crashed it in January, an it took 6 months to be ready plus another month to get the rims (real PITA to get those rims) .
  14. Finally got my car after 6 months of waiting, here are the pics. So, what do you think ?
  15. Yes, i know. here we have both (bora and jetta), by the way, what are the differences between them ? I know the later models are different , or at least here. The left one is sold as Jetta and the right one is sold as Bora.
  16. Thanks for the reply, well, i'll just have to find some rims that fit my car and look good (a bit hard in here).:( I will appreciate some suggestions.
  17. Hi to all, Does anyone have the 17" jetta wheels on a mk1 octavia ? i'm just about to buy these for my octy, but don't know if they're going to look fine in the car. PS: the vrs wheels are almost impossible to find in my country and i don't want to fit any other than VAG rims. Sorry for my english, i know its not to good.
  18. Hi to all from Dominican Republic, I have a MK1 Octavia and i just love the car. I'm making it a facelift after a crash. BTW this site is VERY useful. Regards, Jonathan
