  1. A few recent random pics
  2. Excellent thanks for sharing!
  3. I think it’s pretty clear the seatbelt was chewed by a rodent, and it also found this empty popcorn packet and tried to drag it into the boot. Better have a word with my daughter about leaving food in cars!! It also ate some of my parcel shelf which fortunately doesn’t show New belt is fitted, just need to sort out the headlight and get a WoF re-check. Those &$@ing headlight adjuster clips! Took Rusty for a WoF re-check, we got the headlight adjusted just right then “ping!” The clip flew off. At the back of headlight that has to come out to get to the clips. At 4:58pm. So I had to come home again with no warrant of fitness. Third time lucky! Success! It took another 45 min of taking the headlight out and re fitting to finally get it right. Running issue also sorted it was cylinder 2 plug lead. Will tidy later but it no longer sounds like a Subaru. OMG what a revelation! I have decent headlights now! Last 2 wofs they must have ignored it.
  4. WoF failed on headlight alignment and a cut in my rear seatbelt! Maybe rodent related? Also my drive shaft bushing is worn so I’ll replace that soon. Since sitting outside for a week Rusty isn’t running properly - missing and down on power. Not sure what it is yet, maybe electrical, maybe air or vac leak. I suspected spark plugs so did a quick 10 minute new plug install in @repcoauto car park Smoother running but still not right. Hmm not sure that looks right. New cap and rotor coming from @qualitat_european New seatbelt arrived from Hawkeswood Classic in Auckland.
  5. Rusty had a visit from a descendent, The RS5 belongs to Steve who I bought Rusty from.
  6. Power steering pump rebuild kit arrived from @pelicanparts, hopefully I got the correct one. Pump is out, had to break out the big bar, the banjo bolts were done up to FT. I’m going to take the pump to a specialist after reading how it’s done Power steering pump is back in, my car did not appreciate being outside for a week in the rain. Pond in the boot, rodent droppings in the engine bay and the start of a mouse nest in the boot!! Sigh countryside living things!
  7. Yep I'm really happy with it. It was originally owned by a Bridgestone tyre shop then another tyre shop owned it for 21 years! Someone has recently done some tarting up - red calipers, new head unit etc. The wheels are 17s compared to original 14s, but it still rides nicely. I bought all new tyres cos the budget ones on there were cracking on the side walls.
  8. I did! I thought it's probably best not to keep using the urq as a ute Especially after the new 6-figure insurance valuation. And it's good to have another vehicle. It's a 1992 Ford Courier (also sold as a Mazda Bounty) with 404,000km on its 2.2-litre petrol engine and manual transmission. I've already done a few things to it - oil, filter, air filter (carby!!), rear speakers (back windows out to get the trims off!), removed 8m of dead wiring, dash apart to fix the charger port, a bit of cleaning up.
  9. Power steering pump rebuild kit arrived from Pelican Parts, hopefully I got the correct one. Pump is out, had to break out the big bar, the banjo bolts were done up to FT. I’m going to take the pump to a specialist after reading how it’s done At least I now have my new sensible daily driver to use.
  10. Investigating where the oil leak was coming from. It’s not oil it’s power steering fluid leaking from the pump. Also adjusted the right headlight as it wasn’t sitting right.
  11. #gumbootrally round the mountain charity run.
  12. Some recent pics Gear shifter bushing finally arrived, and what a difference! It had got so bad that third and first were about in the same place.
  13. Surely it’s possible to do an oil change without wearing half of the oil.
  14. Recent challenges - broken door handle. And a clamp was scraping on the gravel, easily rotated
  15. Time for a massive photo flood from recent adventures along the Forgotten World Highway to Ohakune for Wookies in the Wild. 180 m long one-lane tunnel, gravel roads, rainforest, volcanoes.
  16. Always a new thing to fix! Now I have petrol leaking out of the cap. New filler cap seal on order. Also called into the local Audi dealer to see what they can find me as a replacement as on close inspection it seems to be leaking though the lock! Ahh clean at last.
  17. Too much acceleration! Or schoolboy error in lid placement.
  18. The Mini is a 320bhp tuned manual so likely a handful of fun. Travels! Clocked over 140,000 miles. I suspect the trigger part of the door handle has cracked, everything else looks good but it’s not quite pulling enough so the door is tricky to open. I have spares. Road trip things. About 900km covered this weekend. And around 10l/100km which is impressive for an old turbo nugget. Hoping the crack can be repaired it’s about 1cm across. The ride is so much nicer, bridge joins no longer loosen fillings and cause buttock clenching. Noticeably more body roll which is great fun in roundabouts. Less road noise. So hot in 33 degree summer heat! Removing the sun roof panel made a huge difference to comfort levels.
  19. I like both but I can confirm 3 inches makes the ride quite different.
