  1. 5x112 Lol usually I do but we’re gradually moving house
  2. Updated to-do list with items added from the invoice from Powerhaus. Amazing how much stuff you can get in a quattro.
  3. The alignment was done recently and was quite a way out before so the wear is likely from that. Will think about what to replace them with. That was fun! The screen was still leaking slightly at one corner so the Novus guy and I decided it was best to pull it out, clean up and re-seal. There was a little bit of surface rust under there which I cleaned up as best I could with a wire brush, rust converter and some black paint.
  4. Yes!! Warrant of Fitness passed with no issues!! Happy days! Road trip next week!
  5. That’s better! This rotor arm fits. Bought on EBay UK, made in Spain, delivered to New Zealand from Latvia.
  6. Lol of course!!!
  7. For the first time in over seven years of ownership I feel I've finally driven my urquattro properly. After repairing and changing so many parts, the final piece of the puzzle seems to have been the fuel pump and filters. It pulls hard to the red line, it doesn't stutter or miss, I can power around bends like a boss, it doesn't threaten to stall when manoeuvring at low revs, I can accelerate from low revs in the wrong gear and it just does it, no hiccups, and it sounds just ****ing epic. I don't know quite how to describe the thrill it has given me today but after so many frustrations and so much time and expense, to just get in my car and drive, and enjoy the drive with no problems, not only made me grin like an idiot but actually made me kinda emotional. It's finally time to enjoy my classic as a daily driver as much as I possibly can. Until the next challenge
  8. Not since Covid but apparently they’re coming back this year.
  9. Touring Wellington’s op shops! Rusty is running way better than it ever has since fitting the new fuel pump and filters. Not hesitating, not spluttering at low revs, warm starting quicker. Not threatening to stall when lifting off at low speed. Very happy!
  10. New paper air filter to replace the ancient K&N. That last clip is a bugger to get on! I ended up using two screwdrivers and a pry bar through the headlight hole. One skinned knuckle and only one dropped screw 😃
  11. Yes I think so
  12. Got the new filters and pump fitted this afternoon. As always things didn’t go totally smoothly. The filter connections were corroded and needed a bit of WD40 and effort to loosen. The filter was dated 2011! I reassembled everything, tested and fuel sprayed out of the pump. I realised I’d used the wrong crush washers so it was easily fixed.
  13. Cars and coffee today
  14. New fuel pump has arrived from Latvia, and filter from UK. This is a generic filter with 12mm connections that I bought to replace the plastic pre-pump filter. It's a bit bigger than I pictured, lol. I've been recommended a more appropriately sized one which is on the way. Out in the spring sun. Post pump fuel filter arrived. New rotor arm looked great until I compared to the old one. It has a smaller hole! It seems I have the 83 84 distributor. Cleaned my one up and I'll search for the Topran one same as I have.
  15. Quick clean after yesterday’s drive. Really impressed with Autoglym trim gel, it brought up the finish beautifully on the rear Coupe strip.
  16. Spring vibes. Great drive today over the Remutaka hill and back, the car performed mostly well with the odd hesitation. I think that relay has helped and the fuel pump will help more.
  17. Rad fan upgrade! I thought my fan was getting tired, turned out it was rubbing on something! But I found this from @ccc_motorsport and it looked cool so I ordered one. Much thinner and several kg lighter than the factory one. Of course Rusty fought me, one of the bolts snapped when I tried to remove it. Sigh.
  18. In my fuzzy memory I would have sworn there was an O2 sensor on the downpipe but there is not! I even went back and double checked all of the photos from when I pulled the head out. So that theory is out. Further things to check - CIS metering plate. Fuel filter on CIS head (haven't looked for that yet, cant be hard to find Makes sense to check that when I do the fuel filters and pump. Someone suggested it on FB and I've been thinking about it for a while - is to fit a wideband O2 sensor and AFR gauge. It means removing the downpipe again though to get a sensor bung welded in. Photoshoot pt. 2
  19. Amusing dashcam clip... https://i.imgur.com/TaTFfjN.mp4
  20. Loving the black plates! Little drive, just under two hours running. No serious boost issues but I get a hesitation/missing around 4000rpm. This seems to be an ongoing thing since I’ve had the car on the road. Hoping new fuel pump and filters will help! Wondering if it’s just not quite giving enough fuel pressure for full load.
  21. Australia's finest!!
  22. Saturday afternoon jobs. Removed the hardwired CB I’ve never used. Will wire it to a power plug so I can move it between cars. Reinstalled the original electric aerial. Need to find the other end of its power wiring and make it work. I had to take the back seat and passenger seatbelt mount out to get to the wire, turns out I hid it well Had a good spray around the boost pipes with engine start (best product name ever). No changes in engine note so that’s encouraging. Changed both fuel pump relay and starter relief relay for new ones. Finally removed the stickers and washed both cars.
  23. Time I peeled the vinyl off I think. Though it does make people smile. Have ordered new Bosch fuel pump, Bosch rotor arm, Meyle fuel filter. New fuel pump relay fitted. Will search and test for air leaks at the weekend.
