in uk probably yes. in malta, don't think so unfortunately. i have actually never seen a 1.4tdi fab over here. in malta, people usually get an old car, such as an old mk1 golf, or a favorit, or lada or something similar, and put on an imported toyota 1.5td (the ones standard on the imported toyota corolla windy2 model - i don't know if they're imported into the uk too). -
CONVERT TO DIESEL - Fabia 1.4MPi Classic

Hi guys, I have a 3-year old Fabia 1.4MPi Classic, the old pushrod 8-valve engine. What with the steep increase in the price of petrol and all I am thinking of changing the engine to a diesel one. Do you know what engines are compatible with my car? Can I change the engine for a diesel engine designed for the Fabia itself? What are the odds that I'll manage to put a diesel engine successfully on this vehicle? Thanks -
To tell you the truth I'm not sure if it was set to demist. It could be that the know was set to half way between "windscreen" and "face vents" (i.e. pointing at 2 o'clock sort of) - so that could (hopefully) be the case...
-
thanks... i'll look it up as i need quite some help on it

what did you do exactly? did you just swap an instrument panel from a golf in place of the one your octavia had? do the plugs and everything fit? what about the dot matrix display at the centre? mine only has a number of warning lights in the centre part where you got the dot matrix display. i still have to go thoroughly through all the posts in this thread ax i've only skimmed them through to tell you the truth but i'd appreciate if you can give a small summary of what happened.... thanks

What have I been up to with the instrument cluster?

the pics are not showing for me :( i own a fabia classic 1.4mpi but i understand that the octavia and fabia dials are exactly the same am i right? now what i want to do is convert my dial backlights to VW Golf blue. from what i have been hearing and reading i am also assuming that these are surface mount leds? can you help in this regard please? i mean, do you know what type of leds i need to get, size, current, colour wavelength (such as 460nm? 400nm? 500nm?) another thing is that i have an a/c, but i don't have any intricate displays for my a/c, just three knobs, one for temperature (the one with blue and red scale), one for fan speed and one for outlet selection. the only two digital displays i have are under the speedo and under the rev counter. -
hi guys, i've been looking at this thread and the links you have posted. i couldn't find anything for the Fabia but it seems that dials for the polo mark 4 fit exactly onto the fabia or am I mistaken? thanks.

i'll look for it... will give you the results

Hi all, I have seen the pollen filter being mentioned here and there in this forum, but I still cannot get heads or tails where this is located in my Fabia CLASSIC 1.4MPI Can anybody kindly illustrate exactly where I can find this in my vehicle as my a/c is hardly cooling, besides that it makes a "moist" smell, and what's worse, air flow is very poor, even on fan speed 4!! If anyone could kindly post an image I'd be very grateful... Thanks guys.

guys excuse my ignorance... but what are the three flash indicators?
-
No you can rest assured the green of the instrument panel is nice. They're similar to the saxo's if you've ever seen one of them. The only difference is the white needle on the fabia as opposed to the red needle of the saxo - the latter of which, in my opinion, is better.
-
green calipers.... the brake calipers you mean ? I don't think mine are green.
-
nothing wrong with green actually. i guess it's just that us humans (i'm one of them :( ) are never happy with what we have! anyways... in reality, at least from my side, it's because i really like the VW lighting, it's really cool and looks technological with that really blue background. but in the long run, i think, it makes your eyes uneasy cos last time i got a ride in a golf of a friend of mine and after a few minutes i couldn't focus on the instrument panel anymore.

Does anybody know where I can get a servicing manual for the fabia, because my dealer won't provide it, and haynes haven't published it. By servicing manual i mean the instructions step by step that mechanics use to dismantle bits and pieces and sefvice the car (such as the haynes popular manuals). I'd appreciate had someone give me a link to such a manual or at least tell me where i can get it from if it's not possible to download it free from somewhere.

if you have a look at a saxo's instrument panel the needles are red over a green lighting if i'm not mistaken. a friend of mine had one and if i remember well they looked pretty good. however i have a feeling i'll give up at actually trying to convert the colours - it will be too risky having to interfere so much with the vehicle!

yes kind of. then i got an indica (indian too) and now i've decided to invest into something more worthwhile!!!
