  1. Congratulations, glad to hear it all went well. Give it a few weeks and you'll wonder what you did with all your time before he arrived. Thankfully ours now sleeps for 12 hours/night so at least we've got our evenings back. Just over 4 months old
  2. Fingers crossed he coughs up then. We'll know in a couple of weeks.
  3. At the end of the hearing the judge calculated the total figure and told him that he must pay the money to the courts within 14 days. The judge asked him if he had any problems paying it and he said "No" so I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. If he doesn't pay are you allowed to send the bailiffs around to collect?
  4. Well, more than 4 months after I'd paid for the item, we finally ended up, face to face in a small claims hearing yesterday. The judge was excellent and heard both lots of evidence, asked the defendant a few questions, I pointed out a couple of flaws in his answers and the judge found in my favour:D Unfortunately for him I'd had to travel over 400 miles in total to attend the hearing and so my travelling expenses at 40p/mile were huge. (I filled up when I got back and it cost less than £35 for the diesel). The judge stated that it would have been cheaper by train so we eventually settled on £75 for travelling and £50 for having to take a day's holiday from work so he ended up with a bill for over £200, when he could have settled before the hearing for less than £90. I wasn't really bothered about the money side of things but just wanted to teach him a lesson. I must say that after 4 months of arguing with the bloke I felt bl**dy elated when I won the case.
  5. Collected my Megane II set of wipers yesterday. Looks like they would be suitable for a MK I Octy as well as the Fabia. Fitted them to the Fabia and they fit great. Just got to wait for it to rain now in sunny Devon;)
  6. I'm collecting my set of Megane II on Saturday and before I fit them I'll try them on our MKI Octy vRS and see if they are suitable for this car as well.
  7. Just checked with our local Renault dealer and the price for the Megane II kit is
  8. Latest news is that he is now stable in hospital. Will hopefully pull through OK.
  9. I worry that this looks like another "Steve Irwin" tragedy. Trying to make dramatic TV and your luck runs out:(
  10. I put in a planning proposal to build a few houses and the letter we received back from the planning officer suggested we must pay a 4 figure sum, for each house, as a contribution to the local school and also there was talk of another sum to the highways agency.
  11. There's also one in Plymouth - was very suprised when it pulled up outside and the guy got out and placed his sign on the roof. He was teaching our next door neighbour's daughter. I did a double take as it was parked right next to our silver one.
  12. Our first child was two weeks late and the wife had to be induced as he was showing no signs of wanting to come out. On her due date we went out test driving a vRS estate and he still wasn't interested in coming out. My wife had a go behind the wheel and at one stage i thought I was going to give birth. We ended up buying it and collected it the day before she went into hospital. All I can say is don't panic. If baby is moving around normally then just wait for the midwife to give you a date to go in to hospital to be induced.
  13. Had my renewal notice from Tesco earlier this month for the vRS estate,
  14. I was 37 and my wife was 28 when our boy arrived in May of this year. We had been trying for 2 years and were also in the process of getting our visas to emigrate. A week before we were due to have our medicals done, my wife told me she was pregnant. It was mixed emotions for a while as we were prepared and ready to move to Oz for Christmas and suddenly we were going to be parents and have to put our move on hold. Don't regret it for one minute as our son is great, I'm now working from home so get to spend lots of time with him and we have delayed our move for a couple of years. When we realised how much stuff a baby needs when you go away for a weekend, we also went out and bought a vRS estate.
  15. Over two years ago some d!ck in a XR2 hit the back of my car on the way to work. We exchanged details after I refused his offer to settle in cash (I was driving a company car so couldn't agree to cash). The car was quickly repaired and I thought that was the end of it. Twelve months later I get a letter from our company's insurers stating that the other driver is claiming he wasn't involved. Sent back a statement with all the details I could remember. Six months later I get another letter asking for more details - pretty difficult to remember after 18 months. Three months later I get a letter from a firm of solicitors who have now taken on the case and I've had to provide all the info again. That was five months ago and now it looks like I'm going to have to go to court over this:mad: These sort of idiots are also probably helping to drive up the cost of premiums.
  16. Talked to a traffic cop friend a while back who told me that he believes that mobile safety camera vans are set to 85mph which would explain why SWMBO was caught doing 86mph last year by a van. When he's on patrol he normally allows people to drive upto 95mph and will stop them above this or at lower speeds if they're driving dangerously or road conditions are poor. Got pulled over last year after being followed for about 8 miles and got away with a warning. He wouldn't say how fast he'd clocked me but I do remember travelling a tad over 90mph on the speedo which, according to TomTom, the speedo is about +5mph at that speed.
  17. The ironic thing is I never bought the daddy top - it was a present from one of our friends. Since they grow so fast it's pointless buying too many clothes of a particular size and so he ends up wearing this once or twice a week - another month and it'll probably be too small for him.
  18. I'd glad to report that it doesn't seem to have caused him any harm
  19. Here's a couple of pics of our little boy, Oliver whose 3 1/2 months old. As you can see he's already got his work clothes sorted out. The last picture is of my latest baby that was born on Monday.
  20. Firstly congratulations on the new arrival - she's very cute. Having our first baby was just the excuse I needed to buy a 2nd hand vRS estate. Picked it up the day before the wife went in to be induced. Just got back from a weeks holiday in Ireland with our baby son, Oliver and his 6 year old cousin. The car was jammed packed with all sorts of baby gear:O There was no way we could fly over with all the gear we needed.
  21. Another baby to add to the list - Oliver Layton 14 weeks old and sleeping through the night for the past six weeks:thumbup: . Hang on in there guys, it does get better. Do what we did and grab yourself a copy of 'The Contented Baby' book off ebay - it's a life saver!!!
  22. I'd never signed up to any until the start of this year, and working from home, I have a bit more time to spend on the net, much to the annoyance of SWMBO!! We've used the links from quidco to buy baby things from kiddicare, wine from tesco, dvds from play and dvd.co.uk, etc, etc, and we earn cashback for these purchases. There is no catch, the only thing is that the cashback is not guaranteed although you can submit queries to quidco if something doesn't track. A few months ago I wanted to get TomTom900. I brought it through the comet website but because I'd gone through the quidco link to comet I earned £10.85. I could have gone direct to the comet site but wouldn't have earned the cashback. If you regularly buy anything through the net, including car insurance, it's worth going through a cashback site to earn some of your money back.
  23. While you're at it, it's also worth checking out the discussion forums on www.moneysavingexpert.com
  24. To be fair most of my earnings have been gained from signing up to gambling sites which offer up to £50 cashback/site. These normally ask you to deposit say £25 and wager about £50. Playing blackjack I've normally ending up winning a few pounds, withdraw all the money and wait for the cashback to pay out in a couple of months. Also mobile phone contracts at £35 each, software purchases, and daily earnings from price comparison sites such as Kelkoo at 10p/day.
