    As its a bit of a rarity, I cannot find any for sale so that I would be able to ascertain what it might be worth.

    My thinking is if I had some idea how much it was new, I can roughly gauge how much it should be worth after some 15 months.

    Probably worth about 2/3rds of your purchase price. It will probably even out to around 40-50% after 3 years. 

  2. This seems to be a common issue on TSI engines. My old 272 started to lose water, dropping 2-3cm below the max line over 3000 miles. I pointed it out on two occasions  and mentioned the common issue, as it was on a fixed service / warranty plan. Expecting a fix I lost confidence in the dealership, who filled the expansion tank  to the full mark twice for 'observation' and patronisingly told me it's a TSI characteristic!!  I  often find the company responds slowly or negatively to common non-wear and tear problems, i.e. design or component faults, even when forums like this have multiple examples of similar failures. Good luck to @100andthirty getting it sorted.

    What a helpful post. It was simply a picture of the OEM screen fitted to my  last car to illustrate.  It was identical to the one fitted to my Golf GTI. They are a good safety benefit. By all means don't buy a VAG car with one if it offends your sensibilities. You stick to scraping ice and getting cold.

  5. My commute is 10 miles on A roads with one set of lights at mostly 50-55 mph, recently with around 43-46 mpg indicated,  which will improve slightly with warmer weather. On a 30 mile drive last weekend on A roads, keeping up with traffic, it was showing 51 mpg. After 30 years of manuals, my last 3 cars have been DSG and I am converted,  I can't fault their overall performance. Unlike my last Superb which had the oomph to sit in 7th unless urgent acceleration was required, the Karoq's DSG box  keeps it in 6th  on a light throttle at 50-55 and will drop down into 6th fairly easily on inclines. It's just an observation and is simply holding the car in the right gear, matching  economy/power requirement . When power is required urgently, i.e. kickdown,  my experience is that regardless of engine power, a DSG box hesitates and can go down too many gears. In the Karoq it's smoother and safer to pre-plan and flick down a gear or two using the paddles behind the steering wheel.  Finally beware the "smaller engines always equals better economy" mantra. My friend recently got a  23 plate 1.0 Fabia Monte Carlo DSG. It's very nice but its economy is definitely slightly worse than the 2020 Octavia 1.5 TSI which he traded in. I hope you get a reliable car and a good deal.

    Just map your car. Torque increase with the bhp will help. Otherwise just buy a 4x4 Superb that will put the power down with virtual cockpit and Columbus ICE

  7. There were a lot of 23 reg Karoqs with under 50 miles on the clock for around £29-30K when I bought mine in December. It had 8 miles on the clock, lots of decent kit but unfortunately no ACC and heated screen. I figured I could live without those extras and enjoy the savings.

Not happy with the compressor and can of gel, I bought a new space saver from eBay after some generous advoce from @Modders, along with a Karoq-specific 2WD space saver kit from Caffyns Spares online. I fitted the spare on Tuesday and was surprised to see the jack, fully extended, only just managed to raise the car about 5-10 mm off the ground. The label said Octavia, Rapid. I called Caffyns on Weds to question if it was the correct jack.  They called on Thursday to confirm the part number was wrong and would send a replacement. It arrived today. Dealers so called 'stealers' get a hard time from some on this site. I can only praise their customer service and quick response. Not sure if you can read the label on the photo but the difference in size is immediately apparent. I.e. the larger one is for the Karoq.

    Yes my alloy wheels are as in the photo so can only presume they are diamond cut. Don't know what the difference is once they are silver coated by the manufacture or how you can tell  not ever having played around with these wheels.

    Had a quote from a company called BA Wheels for £192.00 for the front pair finished as original.  

    Is this a reasonable charge as never had to send in motorbike rims or car rims before?

    Yes £105 per  wheel....or £175 if they discover a buckle, which I have just paid for my son's Audi 19" Turbine to be repaired. It was either but the kerb or hit  the oncoming bus! I thought £175 was a bit rich until I saw that a new set of wheel rims  was £ 3360 at 30% discount according to one website. Madness.

    We tried OBD Pro on mine and there was no expensive hidden option that came up. It allowed us to disable the annoying seat belt warning bong and fill up fuel quantity. Traffic Sign recognition wasn't an option. I wonder if what I think is a  camera  in the front screen mirror, is a rain or headlight sensor. I can't see lane assist as an option and am happy not to have it. 

  11. Unless you can pay outright then there will be a premium for driving a new car. PCH was fairly cheap but those cheap deals are  now scarce. As for trade-in values, the dealers have to provide facilities, pay staff, taxes etc.  The 2nd hand market is apparently weakening. We all expect cheap deals and max trade-in value. The best deals are in my experience pre-registered or almost new with low mileage. I.e. you aren't paying the initial lump of depreciation.

    @HappySam Yes stop overthinking  it. I have had a mapped 300 bhp Octavia and a GTI 245 PP. Both would be easily  beaten from the lights by my  272 4x4 Superb L&K. The 2WD cars just can't put the traction down effectively.  However once rolling the Octavia had awesome torque and could possibly catch the Superb. MPG in summer keeping up with most traffic  will be 32-35 MPG on short A road trips and up to 40-ish on longer trips. It will feel a bit 'boaty' after the VRS, so on the test drive try out it the DCC Sport mode if it has DCC and you'll realise how you can really push it along twisting roads despite its size. The equipment and comfort was fantastic and overall it's the best car I have had, particularly since it only cost me £26K at 6 months old with 2500 miles on the clock and £155 road tax. You get one life so if you can afford it, spend the money and enjoy.

  13. The digital dash has lots of options.Sunroof doesn't rattle...yet. Performance is ok, I wouldn't bother trying to race anybody. MPG is  very good....44 MPG on my usual A road commute  road. I say very good MPG against the background of having had 2.0 petrol VAG cars for 16 years

  14. That mirrors my impressions. It is a quiet car,until you stamp on the accelerator for kickdown. Very economical. Occasional wheelspin during fairly gentle pull away in slightly cold or damp conditions. Unlike my previous 2.0 TSI DSG cars, it definitely does jerk at low speeds when you lift off and let the DSG box slow the car down. Well equipped, comfortable and a big plus....a sunroof that doesn't rattle....yet.

    My driving requirements have changed. Most trips are mostly under 10 miles. Even where I live the traffic as grown to where it presents few opportunities for overtaking and making ground.  If I want some fun I can take my Kawasaki 1000 out for a ride. 

  16. After 46 months of pleasant luxury with the 272 L&K Superb I have gone mad and bought a 1.5 TSI Karoq Sportline. The L& K was great, very quick off the mark when required and fairly economical usually 32 Mpg and 40-ish on a run and carried any load easily. The Karoq took 2 x builders bags in one trip to the tip today.

     

    Plus points - 44 Mpg without trying on my 10 mile commute and 52 Mpg on A road 30 + Mile trips. Sat higher up, the view is improved further at night by very good beam-shaping headlights, brighter and faster to change than the 272's beam-shapers. Nice sun roof, seats and comfy ride on 18" 50 profile tyres. 

     

    Minus points. Rather less oomph than I have had for the first time since I my first Skoda in 2008.   No heated front screen, sound system is ok but the much slated Canton in the 272 sounded much better. The DSG box is not quite as smooth when decelerating, ie you sometimes feel it changing down.

     

    The Karoq is well equipped and I have checked for hidden goodies using the latest OBD 11 App.  The only extra gizmo that I could have and wanted to activate was refuel quantity. The 272 has a hidden VRS speedo and lots more things to activate.

    Maybe if you can get them to admit it is the problem? I was told today after pressure testing and no fault found with a 1-2cm drop in water coolant bottle level after it was topped up 2500 miles ago,  that "these types of engines use water! " having owned petrol TSI since 2015, that is not my experience. I explained to the technician and he agreed it was a common fault. 'Customer to monitor' so I will monitor..... and then will probably have to go back again.
