  1. I know the boot is massive but that takes up a lot of space.
  2. The reason I specced my MkIII VRS with Canton, was that my MkII VRS system sounded so weedy. My wife’s Daihatsu Sirion’s audio system sounded much better. Octavia Canton is not bad for the money. I paid £400 in 2015, it’s more now. Canton also gets criticised but to my ear it sounds best when used with Spotify, iTunes.
  3. Which us why I would trade it in and not bother with waiting for experts and timewasters.
  4. I did that with my first car, advertised on here and sold it very reasonably priced, reduced to allow for replacement of the air con comoressor. , not before I got some idiotic omments and frankly wished I hadn't bothered. The buyer test drove it and commented it was in better nick than other Mk2 VRS 2 years younger. Far easier to chop in at a dealership with no worries about payment
  5. Looks good, can't you use the massive armrest, glovebox?
  6. Last weekend as part of my campaign to help local business, I traded in my 2017 SX performance tourer (bottom photo) for its 2020 equivalent. Only now it’s a Ninja SX performance tourer (the name change seems to have increased the Insurance premium). They look the same and are the same weight but ride very differently, it even feels easier to push it it around in the garage. The LCD dash is very clear. Non-riders won’t immediately see (or care about) the differences, apart from the darker green and rather (to my eyes) unsightly single silencer, which will be replaced by an Akrapovic, when it comes in to stock off back order. Cruise control, quick shifter, fly by wire throttle giving an instant smooth response, a slight steering rake change, better confidence inspiring S22 tyres and most importantly lots more metallic flake made this worth trading up to...or perhaps the lighter green bike’s days were already sub-consciously numbered since I’d sold my ralleye green VRS. Shame the weather’s turning. Safe riding all.
  7. Given the increasing amount of congestion, speedcams and citizen dashcam police Shy sensibly treasures his licence and no doubt a hyper-miling thread is about to be born... black cars are also a right pain to keep looking clean
  8. I specced my new 2015 VRS petrol with 18s, front parking sensors, front Assist along with Canton, the for me best options ( in winter at least) of heated front screen and auto-dimming door mirrors. Having experienced it , I realise now that I should also have got ACC. Although when traded in the decent options didn't seem to make any difference in the price. Frankly I barely ever used the FPS and wouldn't ever pay for them as an option. Mind you my father, a HGV1 driver, hauling huge trailers around the narrow roads in Devon and Cornwall, howled with laughter when I paid to have rear parking sensors fitted to a Mondeo in 2004.
  9. Yep, David Coulthard got it right yesterday, asking aloud when Derek Warwick had last raced, after Albon chopped in front of Ghasly. He raced in a different era. I also cynically wondered if the stewards would have penalised Hamilton had he been in "F*$k you to my critics" Bottas's place at the first bend, following the start, where Bottas came from way off the track to push back in front of Hamilton, such is the F1 propensity to try to even the odds/spice up a predictable race. I loved Albon's comment " They race me so hard" err yes that's their job and his spectacular hard-nosed overtakes have resulted to a few incidents, such as Hamiltion being penalised in Austria.
  10. Hang out for a L&K with DCC. I was just lucky with my purchase timing. I have had 2 Octavia VRS and took a bit of self-convincing to look at the L&K Superb, the brilliant options convinced me. Mine is on 18x235x45 profile tyres and a bit floaty on gentle twisting A roads in Normal mode. Switching DCC to Sport mode transforms the handling on the same twisty A roads. If possible test drive one with DCC and one without and you'll see what I mean immediately.
  11. I am sure the MPG improvement will compensate for the increasingly shrinking amount of traffic and pothole-free open roads.
  12. I think coming from an S6 you will find the 280’s response a littke underwhelming. No doubt a DSG and engine map to stage 1 will make it feel a bit more peppy.
  13. Summer 32-36 Mpg rural shortish journeys. 40 Mpg motorways. If you get the L&K you get a fair few options as standard. The more I drive mine, DCC seems a brilliant option. In sport mode the handling and steering feel is very good on A and B roads in comparison to a more floaty understeering feeling in normal mode. If I was driving high mileage on a budget I'd obviously get a TDI.
  14. My friend is being told that the judder/hesitation is a characteristic of the car. Km issue still there, no fix yet. Headlights blinding oncoming driver can't be tested...until it's dark...
  15. Call me cynical, I have lost count of how many seasons the FIA or F1 authorities have intervened to try to extend interest in a season or counter a dominant team, by changing rules or spurious decisions. Verstappen said 'we managed to split the Mercs'Er no, the stewards managed that. All's fair in love and war until it's Ferrari, the team which obviously cheated terribly last year and a private deal was done to keep them in F1. No other team would have been allowed to cheat so openly. Watch Hamilton get a race ban for something else....
  16. I think the valved exhausts were discontinued with the introduction of the 272 GPF engined model, which has a slight burbke/waffle on tick over, but you need to stand behind it to hear it!
  17. Cynically and from previous experience, I wonder if the warranty would not cover this as it could be classed as wear and tear. I hope it does for your bank balance sake.
  18. Some TDI suffered from leaking water pumps after 2-3 years so perhaps it's the same fault.
  19. Additionally oncoming traffic is flashing my friend at night using the intelligent headlights. I.e. he suspects that the headlights are not automatically dipping/changing the beam pattern. My headlights are kept on main beam and I have never been flashed by oncoming traffic.
  20. There should be no judder! The Km display issue is still there. Very poor.
  21. I posted this same problem from my friend's 1.4 TSI Octavia. It's been in the dealers twice but no resolution. Very sloppy of Skoda to market without testing fully. It also judders when cold. Otherwise, it seems to be a very nice car, it should be as undiscounted it is significantly more expensive.
  22. If it's stage 1 with the same turbo, power will be around 300Bhp no matter if it was 220-245 stock. Rather than lots more boost being offered over standard, isn't it the way the boost and power is developed by the remap which makes the difference? If it's not showing a EML on the dash or a issue via VCDS, have you simply got used to the way it drives? I did after a similar period.
  23. I recently did the exact same thing and traded in a 68 plate 245 PP due to space constraints, although I bought a Superb. You may miss the ‘chuckability’, exhaust burble and digital dash of the 245 PP, if the VRS 245 hasn’t got it but packaging wise for a family, you can’t beat the Octy. I also found the Golf’s Infotainment heated screen button and lack of an audio mute button very irritating. If you want more space, toys, less road noise and get DCC, the 2.0 TSI Superb is a worthwhile shout. If you get the 272 you also get good traction.
  24. Gone back in tonight to be tested for the judderxwhen cold tomorrow am. The km issue is still there so should be looked at....probably waiting for the software update.
