  1. I have the following: 9853 stock fabia fronts Infinity's 4002i rears Kenwood 10" sub with amp The 9853 can be a real pig to set up if you are not used to graphic equalisers and i am not i would rather the base and treble but for a car audiophile then it is a nice piece of kit. Anyway after three weeks of playing around with it and nearly throwing it out the window on several occasions I have found the following setup good for me but would strongly suggest that you get a sub it really give depth Using the parametric EQ I have got the following settings: Band 1 +5 Band 2 +5 Band 3 +4 Band 4 -1 Band 5 -1 Tcorr FL 0.7 FR 1.5 RL 1.3 RR 0.6 SL and SR 0 Bass +5 CD playback on full MX However, remember that this is set up for CD playback and you will have to do this for tuner and MP3. regards wol
  2. The way to do it is to act as though you cannot do it and ask him in the doleful pleading eyes that he would be a big hero if he could do such and such a job for you. You have to make him feel important so don't nag him or your become 'her in doors' men like to feel important in the household but really woman can, if done properly, get a man to do most anything if it's caged right. One thing is sure to get most men doing anything is if he thinks he is on to a promise.
  3. I have just fitted a sony FX5550 to my fathers car it took me about 15 minutes and it sounds very nice but he did not have any sat nav or stering controls. The size of the unit was a normal din size.
  4. I have had an auto 2.0t se petrol for three years. Very nice car to drive very much of a cruiser not as much fun to drive as the furby. Watch out for the fuel mine does 25 to 29 mpg on a run and also the insurance can be expensive. Very good security and safety features. However, uses the same frame as a cavalier/vectra so it can drive a little like them. Wol
  5. Many thanks for the infor i will have a look regards wol
  6. I am about to install a new head unit in the old man's Superb but there Doesn't seem to be a facia plate for them (dealer or autoleads). Any ideas on a suitable alternative? regards Wol
  7. Try Ulead version 8 you can do all sorts of things with it. Or, if you really want to go professional try Adobe pro 6.5 Wol
  8. I have just fitted an amp and sub base in my fabia the best route is the upper gromit on the passenger side (not the ones with wires going through that just goes behinfd the wheel arch) which on a black car was a bit difficult to find but it goes straight into the car and you can then fit the cable throgh it. On looking at the fabia I get the impression they expected you to fit cables and things in it as i have found holes in carpet (under the seat) and a hole in the glove box where i fitted the changer. Once I discovered the upper gromit and using a wire hanger it wasn't too bad. However, many thanks to Doer1 for the pics and the e-mail it was a great help. Wol
  9. They are a good idea but like all other ideas for the freedom loving type the government is making them illegal. Wol
  10. Tried several fuses all blown it may be a trip to Skoda to have a look. Wol
  11. Sorry I didn't reply earlier been out for the day down to Maidstone. Thanx people for the advice had a look at the fuses and it was a fuse ( very small 10 amp) but I am now worried why it blew, is it a bigger problem? I will change the fuse and see what happens. regards Wol
  12. If the water companies wanted too they could use the canels to send water from north to south(they would have to clean them up) but they would rather put the price up and cut the pressure so people in high rise flate would have to have a water pump. Wol
  13. Can anyone tell me where the fuses are located on a fabia VRS before i start rooting through the car. I think the interior light one has gone as all the interior lights have stopped working. I have been messing around the car installing a head unit and other items and I think I may have tripped something so before looking elswhere i want to check the fuses. regards Wol
  14. Many thanks for the reply but i don't really want to drill through car. However, I think i may have found the answer regards Wol
  15. It's another one of those questions. Fabia VRS I have read through the articles on the installation of the power wiring from the battery to the cabin and though it sounds okay I have had great trouble. I have found the gromit by the bonnet hinge (passenger side) where some threads suggest running the cable. however, there is a cable going through it already and I cannot see any other gromit going into the main cabin mainly because the wiring is obstructing the view, I have considered taking the wheel arch protector off to see if I can see the firewall gromit but it does seem a bit drastic. I know there were pictures on the Ice site where someone used a wire coat hanger to thread through but I cannot find them now. Can anyone help? very frustrated Wol
  16. My wife thought I was going through a mid life crises (i'm 45) in downsizing after using a Saab 9-3 for a couple of years. Then I took her for a ride in it and she understood. still thinks i'm a boy racer though. Wol
  17. There is very little difference in the cost of building your own PC compared to buying one. However, if you build a PC you will know how it works and gradually when things go wrong you begin to know where to look rather than taking it down to PC World and getting ripped off with their usually wrong information. Be aware that when buying a mobo, buy a good one and match the ram to the board, i.e. look on the mobo website and see the ram that has been tested with the board. Todays mobo's are engineered quite tightly and non tested ram can cause you problems. Also, be careful of the size of the hard drive as some bios's do not like HD's over about 160gig. And one last thing READ THE MOBO INSTRUCTIONS! regards WOL
  18. The socket is for the CD changer bus lead so you can connect a Sony CDXT70 and use the symphony control to control it. Beware if you use the Sony TX70 (or maybe another capatible Sony unit with the VAGS1) you may have to switch the radio side on first before the changer. It may be something about the signal to the changer but I had the unit working but no sound. Switched to the radio then back and it worked. Wol
  19. Have you tried a 'smart box' add it to your car get the boost, come MOT take it off and the car is back to normal.
  20. What about Uniroyal rainsports? They get a good write up and supposed to be good in the wet.
  21. Many thanks for for the info I looked at the pictures of your car - nice one! Read an article on tyres looks as though using 17" rims on 205/40 tyres instead of the 205/45's on at present looks as though it will do the job and not rub the wheel arch. Any idea if the Skoda Octavia VRS ones will fit, it would keep the Skoda look? regards
  22. My Michelins have worn out in the front so do need to replace thinking about Pirellis' anyone used them on a 'normal' VRS Fabia? Also, what's the benefit of using 17" wheels over the standard? Surely this would affect the accelaration. Any info appreciated.
